  • Here are some of my RC Boats with Running videos to follow. I am showing the TFL outboards, TFL P1 stern drives and others. The White traxxas M-41 is waiting on a paint job. I ran it once and it was perfect. I had to cut off the entire overhang on the rear and make a new transom to mount the 2 outboards. That took quite a while to do. I also had to remove the cable exit pod on the bottom and fill it in perfectly smooth. The Red Traxxas M-41 is very quick and needs some trimming. Also had to remove the cable pod and fill in as well. The White 30.5 tunnel now needs paint since it runs great now. The Abu Dhabi boat has all custom paint and even ALL the Decals were custom drawn and made. The Shockwave 36 had a crappy "Nitro" motor and we know that sucks! So I went twin brushless TFL sterndrives and it is plenty fast on 3s. Looks sooooo much better too with the transoms all scale and such.
    I Will be posting videos of each boat soon. Just need to get to the water and film a bit! I hope you enjoy!

    How do you keep the TFLs running. I have 2, ran 2xs and and destroyed one. Primarily the lower unit gear drives. Do you fill the lower unit with grease? I see after running, the lower units have water in them. The gears get stripped.

    • @stevenfileccia2694
      @stevenfileccia2694 Před 4 lety

      The drives require grease after a few runs. Are top gears stripped or lower set? It could be a loose set screw. These unit ALL have loose screws from factory. It sucks. Only use 3S lipos too. The alignment of the top gears has to be reset evertime you take off the lower unit. There is a small set screw you need to remove to get Grease down a little hole rear most on the lower units. It gets grease between bearings....pain in the butt.

    • @stevenfileccia2694
      @stevenfileccia2694 Před 4 lety

      A
      Yes there is a secret set screw that gets grease to the lower. Unit. I is only accessable when the lower is removed. Then the pain is re meshing the gears each time you take it apart. Maintenance is a pain. I like the tfl outboards better. Way easier to grease. Only run on 3s max. 4s is too much for either drive unit

    • @vigilanterc
      @vigilanterc  Před 4 lety

      That is a great question. For the big cut out like the bottom of the hull I used a larger piece (bigger than cut hole) of .093" sheet styrene on the inside larger than the new hole. then cut out a close to perfect of sheet styrene and epoxied it to the inner first piece from the outside of the hull and then filled in with small gaps with squadron putty, sand, and paint. looks like the holes were never there. For all smaller round holes i just used epoxy/filler combo and taped one side of hole then back fill with the epoxy. Again sand and paint. Hope this helps. I think I have pictures of the process on Facebook if you want to scroll through them. let me know and I will give you my facebook name to look for.

      Do you think that the TFL outboard would be able to fit and work on a Pro Boat miss Geico 24? Thanks

    • @vigilanterc
      @vigilanterc  Před 4 lety

      @@Liam-ju5xt That hull is a bit too small for that outboard. The TFL is a heavy unit, and a 24 inch, low profile hull may cause horrible cornering and handling. You could try it and if it does not work you will still have a SUPER outboard unit.
      I have so many different drive units the TFL is my favorite, and you could possibly get a larger hull for the motor if you buy one.. OffshoreElectrics has them at great prices. I tried a smaller outboard on a Blackjack 29 Catamaran hull.........and it ran terrible. it's up to you but I would not do it. the biggest problem is you would have to get the battery and ESC as far forward to preserve proper balance of the hull. 24" is pretty short to balance out.

Any help is appreciated

    • @sf.5895
      @sf.5895 Před 4 lety

      BWWGL9 don't forget the KV of the motor is very important.. Look for a no load rpm of around 25,000. Low kV allows more voltage and high KV may need less volts.... A 6s boat will very fast...

    • @stevenfileccia2694
      @stevenfileccia2694 Před 4 lety

      Volts x kv = rpm unloaded. Volts x amps = watts. 750 watts is 1 Hp. The motor can handle a max amps that should be stated. Big props makes motors pull more amps. Shoot for unloaded rpm of 25,000 to 30,000 for sport running...watch temps.

    • @vigilanterc
      @vigilanterc  Před rokem

      Your going to need an adapter for each motor. I made mine from CNC cut Delrin, however my buddy used a 3D printer to make 13 degree ( if I remember correctly) the angle of the transit is too much to mount the drives directly to the transom without. If I can find my stl file incen send it to you in an email so that you can have them made or I might be able to at a reasonable price. Let see if I can find the file in my CAD system. If you need I can post a video on CZcams only showing the details on the adapter if that would help. Also, placement of the drives is very important. You don't want to have the motor on the inside run into the grey plastic liner. But you need to be right next to it.

    • @vigilanterc
      @vigilanterc  Před rokem +1

      Well that length hull makes it really only good with the 1/5 scale ones like I used on my 53 inch central marine skater. The problem is balance point. For a 49 inch hull, you would need to mount the batteries and escs very forward on the hull. The next size down outboard is too small. If you go sterndrive, you could go single drive with a monster motor (5690) like I did in my 47 inch lightning cat. That boat runs great.
