Tip for ya take a metal spatula for cooking remove the handle bend and fit to a Sawzall put a edge on and makes removing the windshield a breeze most the time you can do it with braking the windshield good windshields get good money.

Your old school fuse is an old school vacuum tube. You do amazing things with amazing things.

I like it better than any other ones you have done.
I have an idea for future builds. When widening a body to keep your shell from losing all its shape and collapsing . Get some 30mm x 30mm tube cut to just under desired size cut 25mm x 25mm tube the same size. Cut 30mm sq in 1/2 and slide 25mm sq inside now you have an adjustable brace to well to the shell. This will help keep the shape and let you widen as required
I've never done that, but that seems very reasonable!

I've been watching your channel for a couple, maybe 3 years now and I think this 50 Chev is the coolest-looking build you have had since I have been watching. I can't wait to see it when the body is permanently mounted and you start bolting it all in place.

Great video for your car jig, you could use square tubing and sleeve a smaller piece inside in the middle to fine tune your body

I have done quite a few "cut and shuts" in my day. A carbide blade in a circular saw is a million times better than a sawzall, for cutting pillars, body panels, etc. The cuts are straight and square and the end of the blade doesn't wander all over the place.

I'd have figuured you could cut off the full roof canopy, remove the bonnet and rear, cutting the full legnth sides off the body and widening them rather than the roof and general car, making a so say wide arch type shall modification to fit the width
That doesn’t fix my wide firewall, if the roof wasn’t widened you wouldn’t be able to sit in the car without your head outside the driverside door lol

Way to go with another project, this is going to be so cool Casey. Guess you need to remove the wheel wells from the 50 Chevy and the behind the rear seat area on the donor car.
Look at the Morris Minor for inspiration on how to handle the hood. That car was widened 4" just before production started and rather than recalculate all the angles for the domed hood they styled a flat lengthwise strip into it down the middle. (They also put a painted filler panel in the bumpers for the first model year since the widening was so last-minute the supplier order for bumpers had already been placed!)
Casey you should use a square tube that slide inside of one another ,drill hole through bigger piece ,weld nuts on it make inside tube long ,then you could slide it apart, tighten bolts ,and you have them ever time you wide a car ,infinite adjustment

Hmmm your braver then me! I think I might’ve cut the roof skin on the sides and add there instead of welding down the middle of a low crown panel.. that being said I’v never widened a body and you have done a bunch and it’s always turns out great… very excited for this one

That sunroof is (was) worth a couple of hundred dollars. People graft them into other cars using the original frame. If it's still good, it might look good on the 54 chevy as well
Why not keep the roof the same size n just widen the body from the bottom of the windows down? U can even keep the hood n trunk the same size too. Just widen the fenders n doors.
Those "fuses"are actually called tubes. All radios and TV's used them till like the 70s.
Not true, transistor radios came out in the 50's by the 60's transistor radios were very plentiful and common place. but yes many cheaper electronics did still use vacuum tubes.

If not I hope I’m wrong but my buddy built a 12’ ppv with a bored/stoked 6.0 basically made it a G8 and didn’t shim the pump and it killed his motor

i would absolutely cut out the whole hole for the trunk and widen it between the back fender line and trunk hole

We need to put together a Go Fund Me and get you a plasma cutter...! p.s. I was thinking if you fabbed up some telescoping sleeves out of square tubing, big middle and sliding outers, with tapped bolts to hold it together, you could take the braced body superwide, drop it and squish and trim and squish until you got it as tight as possible. And the sleeves would work from project to project.

I would have used a S10 frame. Would fit the body way better and there is a ton of parts available to stuff a V8 in it.
