Another super video! Excellent info.
I’m trying to figure out why the mlb teams used to expand their rosters in September, but that didn’t happen this year
Hey Matt, Question: I went to high school with and played baseball with Shane Robinson so I have followed his MLB career pretty closely after FSU. Past 4-5 years he’s “claimed free agency”, can you explain how that works with him claiming it? Lastly, in 2018 after claiming free agency from the LA Angels, he signed a “minor-league contract with the NY Yankees with a $950,000 salary at the major league league level and an invite to spring training.” He did the same with the Phillies and Braves after the Yankees. Im sure after his years at the MLB level his contracts may be kinda complex but if you can vaguely explain how all that worked I would appreciate. Thanks.
If you could go back in time and put yourself on any baseball team in HISTORY… what team would you play for and why? Love the channel!!!
Dude what happened to the road to 90mph vids you were doing??
Anto, this is fantastic, not confusing at all. You explained the 40 Man Roster in a clear and succinct manner.
Being a season ticket holder to a AAA team (Buffalo), I am glad to hear that players get a good salary after being up in the show. Otto Lopez and Kevin Smith made their major league debuts this season with Toronto and are back with the Bisons. I'm sure they would rather be with Toronto, but it's nice that they are now earning decent pay.
A Rule V video would be outstanding. Some teams have had success in finding rare gems in this draft.
In the old days, players were subject to the Rule V draft if they only had three years in the pro ranks. Short Season leagues were considered as a full year. Due to this, in 1988 the Blue Jays had Jimy Kelly, a 17 year old shortstop, on the 40 man. He was signed at thirteen out of Santo Domingo and began his career in the GCL at fourteen.
Luckily, the MLB enacted an age minimum of sixteen shortly thereafter.
Thanks again, for these videos. Time for some peanut butter and jelly!
Always know what your contract says and understand every part. That way when your agent comes to you with a problem, you understand what the issue is, how it impacts you, and what your options are. Yes, your agent runs the details, but it is ultimately up to you to know YOUR contract.
I think the players are too busy playing to keep up on those details.
Too many things for the player to learn and understand. Literally 1000s of details. That’s why they have agents and lawyers that study all of this stuff and have experience dealing with it all. An 18-22 year old kid has no idea
The hurly burly way my Yankees are playing, I hope some combo of players from The 40-Man Roster can get it done. Honestly, Matt, at this point, I'd happily take a $46-$93k salary. If I had received that in my 20s, I certainly would've felt "rich". Nice analysis, Matt.
Matt you are #1
whoa
Playing ootp last night makes me wish I could lure the best coaches from around the league like in real life
Please do a video on the Rule 5 draft
How can I get an Antonelli hat?
My head hurts. Thanks
Matt, with a DFA, a player can either accept his minor league assignment or choose free agency, correct? And I think I read somewhere the window of time for him to decide is 3 days. Is that also correct or have things changed?
you already made a video about this
You sure?
OK, starting to see where GMs earn their money.
So can we hear about your nerf hoop skills?
