You didn't become Barry Bonds, but you did become a CZcams legend. Holler!
Giants Fan haha!
I mean think about it, IF Barry Bonds had a channel exactly like Matt’s and just shared his similar stories can you imagine! I mean, Matt’s channel is amazing, I love it more than any other! I’ve learned so much and throughly enjoyed every second of it! Like to hear old stories directly from Hall of Famers, there’s nothing better! Matt is definitely a CZcams Hall of Famer first round!!! For the most part these stories will be lost forever, so I’m thrilled there will be a record of his experiences!
I gotta say it’s pretty awesome of you to give us average joes a look into the life of the select few. I really do love the videos you put out and hearing how everything works
You should make a video about how the players union works. And what it’s like to be apart of the players union.
Philip Lavery will do!
Antonelli Baseball can’t wait!!
You probably dont care but does any of you know of a way to get back into an Instagram account??
I was stupid lost the account password. I love any tricks you can give me!
Shit I didn’t know that was a green screen for the longest time
Camilo Paez haha yup!
Whatre you talking about, hes got his camera setup in the hallway at Head Office.
@@DClean I was wondering why the sound was so good. No hallway echo. Very entertaining stories
"When I was with the Nationals, the food was horrendous."
Go to Nationals Park, the food selection is still horrendous...
Go to Angel Stadium and spend $9.50 for a tall can.
@@mikes7446 Rogers Centre's got you beat, 2015-2017 when the Jays were hot, they were charging $12.00 a tallcan. I think the price has slumped a bit, but not as much as the team has in the last 3 years.
What! $9.50 for a tall can? I'd love to know where in the park your getting those prices! Or maybe more to my point WHEN did you pay that price? A tall can is more like $14.00 to $16.00!
Great story young man, keep them coming!!!. You frigging made it, not to many can say that.
This is my favorite baseball source, Matt has a POV that’s very unique to CZcams and he is very linear in discussion . Sorry I been chippy , Dodger Fan processing the Astros stealing and cheating . Thanks man ⚾️🇺🇸⚓️
I went to see the Rockies, Angels, and White Sox spring training in 2019 in Arizona! I had so much fun.
RE: Food. I've seen a video where a MLB team has nutritionists who prepare meals and diet plans individually tailored to each player, based on their position. It was pretty cool. Saves you wondering about what you're going to eat for lunch when someone can just hand it to you and say: "Here's what you need."
I love how honest you address things man. Kudos to you for that. Even the less desirable parts of your career in baseball leagues.
Matt, it’s awesome to see you doing these videos. I remember watching you play in Lake Elsinore and the few games in San Diego. It looks like you’re doing pretty okay for yourself. Love the videos.
3:24, Hey Matt, I think you meant to say 2007 & 2008.
Crayfish 27 haha! Yes correct
We know more about his life than he does. :\
I caught that as well
I came here to make this comment. Keeping Matt on his toes lol
Tyler Bruce Glad to hear you never make mistakes
Enjoyed the video and the the stories you experienced 👍
Love these insider videos! Keep up the great work.
Very interesting stuff. It’s nice to hear about things first hand. Thanks for your videos.
I know life in the minors is tough, but I didn't realize the meal money was that low! Hell, when I was playing in college in the early 00's we got $85/day when on road trips. Crazy to think that college kids are getting more than Pro players.
Could watch all day. Just Awesome.. Keep it up. Thnx Matt
Matt love the stories and insight, keep them coming!
Great stories and insight. Thank you.
I love all the stories. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for starting this channel it’s very interesting!like most boys I dreamed of playing in the big leagues .for me the cardinals .thanks again!!
Go Cardinals
such great insight. thanks for sharing!
Great video, thanks for posting!
Thank You...Excellent job...
Hey Matt, can you do a video on what a regular season game day is like? What time would you normally wake up? What time did you go to the field...etc. What was the difference between night and day games? That would be a very interesting video.
Like these vids alot man. Thanks for the inside info
Hey Matt! Love the vids
Just found your channel great content. I remember you with the Missions with Loboton, Macias, and Inman lol
Great insight Matt!
Every time I watch these videos, I am hoping you make the MLB roster. It’s amazing hearing your humility.
Love the longer question and answer videos
Hey Matt love the videos! I have noticed in spring training guys get there between 6:30-7:30 for a 1:00pm game and if they’re not playing they get to leave before around 12:30, usually the major leaguers. If you were already done for the day what did you end doing out in Arizona?
Hey Matt- How about a video on autograph-seeking techniques/etiquette for fans at Spring Training? I'm headed there in a couple of weeks.
I luv your stories Matt I would like to see the video when you hit your first MLB HR rounding the bases thinking you are Barry Bonds 😂
Love hearing your stories.🤗
I'm a fan, here to learn why what happens on the ball field happens.
I grew up in San Diego, moved to Mariners' territory when I became a prepper. So, when I go to watch spring training (as I did in 2021, from Sunday 28th February to Sunday 28th March), I headquarter at the La Quinta on P83 across the street from Peoria Sports Complex and PF Chang's, but I also travel to watch games in Glendale, Tempe, and Scottsdale. (Gotta admit: Best thing about Tempe is Rustler's Rooste). Then, I come home and watch the opening 4 games of my local American Legion Baseball Team, the Missoula Mavericks AA's, and I said, "These kids played better than any of the ---holes I just spent a ton of money watching during spring training!!"
Hey Matt. Great longer video!
How does it work for hotels on Spring Training? Do each team stay at a specific hotel near their complex for major leaguers and minor leaguers?
When players are transferred from spring training to their respective teams do they sometimes travel together?
Also, when you played when the team photo was done?
Man.. I've been watching your videos from the beginning. Before you even had an intro & only a couple thousand subscribers. Not to flex, but I knew way back then you had a place on this platform & the potential for your content to blow up - I actually emailed you asking about working with you on your channel & doing some editing, you asked me to send you some of my work, but I was so busy at the time, by the time I got caught up, I'd sort of missed my chance. Nevertheless, I'm super happy for you.. as a fan of your content & the way you deliver it, you deserve all the growth you've had & have coming!
Would love to hear what tricks you learned about how to keep weight on during the season. During my short college career I always struggled with keeping weight on & would lose 10-15lbs over the season. I can only imagine trying to keep weight on during a big league season...
Hey Matt I just wanted to say I love the videos
Denver Aviation24 thanks!!
Matt, love the content. It’s so entertaining to hear your stories! Quick question....when you make the video about clubhouse dues can you talk about how income taxes work as a professional ball player? I heard it can be very complicated based on working in so many different states (or even a different country).
It's not complicated. What you make in X state is what matters. Where you're physically located at the time you worked.
Matt, I'm not a huge baseball fan. However, you ROCK and are hilarious! Your story telling ability is awesome! Keep it up!!
Thanks so much!!
Another super video.
You’ve gotta write a book on this stuff Matt! It’d be a money maker for sure
Love the stories. Very interesting your a great story teller….
How does sleeping arrangements work? Do they pay for your hotel stay if you don’t have a house there?
It depends on the organization and playing level... For example, the Dodgers provide their players with a long-term hotel stay for the Spring Training period
You're awesome for making a long video
I live in Arizona and have been going to Spring training for 38 years. Interesting to hear about from player's point of view.
“I didn’t become Barry Bonds” lol
not even Larry Bonds
I don;t really even watch baseball but your videos are so interesting.
I'm buying some of your cards tonight. Love your blogs and so do my grandsons.
William Mariner thanks!!!
Good dude right there
Great stories man
Love the stories.
Dang I don't why but this just made think of playing in high school and how much I miss it. What I wouldn't give to go back to one of those cold early spring mornings. Walking in a line picking rocks out of our infield and then taking BP inside our metal building with a batting cage in it. No insulation huddled around a space heater when you weren't hitting. talking about girls with a giant dip in.
Great stories. Sounds like heaven.
Great video. Do you bunk with other players in either MLB or Minors? Or do you get a room or apartment to yourself.
Matt, you are infinitely interesting. Thank you for the insights! Sorry my Nats treated you so poorly.
Hey Matt what are the living arrangements travel etc during spring training like both major and minor
I'm curious to know exactly how split squad games work? Does the team basically divide in two and they go that way to that game while the rest go this way to another game? Are they divided completely at random or in another way?
one of my questions has always been, how do hitters and pitchers prepare for each other at the amateur level, high school, means senior baseball league, etc where even if you are lucky enough to get some film of your next opponents, you are unlikely to get enough of a sample size to even be able to get their tendencies down. so what do you simply rely on your instincts? on the science of pitching and hitting and on knowing your situation in general? like on a 3-2 count you should be looking for a fastball which can apply to any pitcher in any at bat and isn't really specific, like i am somebody that would enjoy studying and preparing for games, for pitchers and i think it would frustrate me to never really have any idea who i am actually facing and who they are.
Matt you have to look at the Robinson chrinos video of the buzzer
Did you play along with Dirk Hayhurst? Or ever read any of his books?
When back in minor league camp after having regular season Major League time and sent to a major league spring training game, do you still have a high number and two flap batting helmet? or do they give guys who have MLB time some respect with a MLB helmet or lower jersey number?
Good job #107! The Chanel is blowing up
One question I have is on housing. When I was in FL for spring training a couple years ago I noticed a lot of the guys were staying at the hotel I was at. Who is responsible for paying for that? Team or player?
Can you make episode about pros and cons of weight training in baseball?
Hey Matt, if you see this, what's up with the 2 squads during Spring Training? Do all clubs have 2 squads?
How different do you think the Minors and spring training will be with the reorganization that is happening?
I went to Spring Training three years ago. As a fan, I would say that it is underwhelming. Most of the players play 3-4 innings and then evacuate the field completely.. It is more fun to skip the Cactus League and head to March Madness.
I'm doing both in Tampa this year
Awesome
Matt, it seems like with that many guys competing for a limited amount of spots, that there could be some conflicts at times during spring training. Was it common for teammates to get irritated with one another, or even fight during spring training?
When you were batting in the major league spring training game with your double flap helmet couldn't you just tell the hecklers you were a switch hitter? :)
Looking forward to the video on paying club dues, just out of curiosity.
how are non-roster invitees treated? i am sue you have stories about players being cut in ST, including being the last one or two guys cut...
Where do you sleep when at camps? Minor and major?
I'm heading to Spring Training in AZ for the 1st time. Started umpiring last year so trying to get to know the game better that I played as a kid. This was good stuff to get my arms wrapped around the daily events of a player. Appreciate you posting this.
Sounds a lot like military basic training. Except you do it every year.
where’s the best place to submit a question?
Curious how you got that background. I imagine you know where that is and that its not there anymore?
the background is in the hall of fame when you are walking towards the gallery, they block it off though because you need clearance
How is the Grapefruit League and the Cactus League different?
Sounds the a class organization those nationals
27:55 - I'm awesome!
Richard Dougherty thanks!
If you're a guy called up from the minor league camp for that day wearing jersey #97 with no name on the back (so the TV announcers don't know who you are) and looks two sizes too large, is that a matter of the player just taking whatever jersey appears to fit?
Another element of spring training you forgot to mention are split-squad games and games against non-major league teams
Do you practice Monday - Friday or is it Sunday- Saturday
You over threw home plate!!! 🤦🏻♂️. That must’ve been a gut wrenching experience. Thanks for the transparency.
the heckling cuz of your no name jersey with a high number printed on it lol oh jocks will be jocks
Watching this as a guy who has never sniffed competitive baseball in my life and I love these stories
Awesome! Thank you!!!
Early in the video you said a guy would talk about goals for the year. What does the manager say are the goals for the year when you are on a team in the middle of a full rebuild and nobody expects you to win more than 60 games?
You should do a season prediction video
Matthew H will do!
7:28 - So this was your first rodeo? :-)
I noticed the RTTS vids have slowed down and you've gone towards more reaction to current baseball events. Do you see your channel headed more in that direction?
CalVeteran they will pick back up soon. Just haven’t had the time to sit down and dedicate 30-40 minutes to them
Just out of curiosity...what rodeo did you go to? Lol.
Watch you live feed but never got my question answered. How old were you before you liked baseball and wanted to play the game.
Shawn Sattler I started playing young, like 5 probably
how can you get onto a minor league team if you didn't play in college? Do they ever have open tryouts?
Wade LeBlanc, Chad Huffman, Matt Antonelli...Portland Beavers represent!
Boy, MLB offices are really slow this time of year huh? Not a single soul walking across! 😆 I love your green screens bro!
greg the groove :: drum covers haha they know to stay away when I’m filming lol
Antonelli Baseball Hey man. There’s something to say about rookies being called up to the majors that has some sort of super focused almost superhuman stuff they do. You had a nice showing. Heyward, Starlin Castro, Javy Baez, come to mind for me (cubs fan). What’s your thoughts on this mental like superhuman focus in an MLB debut?
19:49 that's me!!!
11:25 - Your accent is wicked pissah. :-)
Yeah every once in a while your Boston accent comes out Matt
I want a Antonelli jersey
