Marlins are worst franchise in sports history. - Even worse, the pathetic Marlins traded Yelich for 4 scrubs who never became anything (Lewis Brinson, Isan Diaz, Monte Harrison and Jordan Yamamoto similar to the way they traded Luis Arráez (likely 3x in a row batting champ) for 4 scrubs this year who will never become anything. Yelich went on to be MVP the next year and almost win the triple crown. PLUS, the Marlins traded the last REAL triple crown winner, as well, Miguel Cabrera PLUS a top starting pitcher, Dontrelle Willis to Detroit for 6 scrubs: Andrew Miller, Dallas Trahern, Eulogio De La Cruz and Burke Badenhop, outfielder Cameron Maybin and catcher Mike Rabelo. Maybin is the only one who was relatively decent. Marlins need to be banned from baseball.

This is Catcher's Interference, because the catcher interfered with the batters opportunity to swing at the pitch. The rule is written to include the Balk call because with a base open as in this instance, the catcher could interfere, and the batter gets first, but R3 would have to return to 3rd, (remember interference is a dead ball), so the Balk is included, to score R3, and keep the defense from exploiting a loophole in the rules. Remember the catcher is not allowed to leave the catchers box before the pitcher releases the ball. He clearly left forward, because he was partly OVER the plate while the ball was still in the pitchers hand! Correct call!!!!

Over the shoulder catches while running full out are extremely difficult. You have to rely on peripheral vision to track the ball. If you focus too much on the ball you risk losing your balance.

The rule is, you must appeal within 15 seconds after the play is dead. The manager should have known that, and or at least someone should have known that. He had plenty of time to do so. That’s inexcusable.

Just appeal by stepping off, telling the first base umpire you are going to appeal, and walking over and tagging the runner. The base is only one way to appeal.

Bad play by catcher AND pitcher. You always check to make sure the call is made, Ump definitely screwed up and it's on him, but the catcher could have avoided all of this by making sure that the ump makes the call.

On the appeal attempt at first base, WHY did the first baseman STRETCH for the throw? Just come off the base and catch the ball and then touch first base.

As a high school umpire, your comments on protecting the umpire are spot on. The thing I hated most was when a kid says to me, “I’ve never caught before.” I knew I was going home that night with a couple of bruises. And my strike zone suffered that game.

That is a super smart play. I'm surprised that you don't see it more. The worst thing that can happen is the offense gets one out, but they have a chance of scoring a run. That's a good trade off.

I think the bat flip culture in high school and college is getting a bit ridiculous. I don't have an issue with bat flips in general if you're running down the path and you flip the bat. The stand there, watch the shot, stare down the opponent, launch the bat stuff is getting out of hand. If you want to spike your $500 bat off the ground go for it. But on the other side, if you are going to be a tool when you hit a bomb, I would expect, at the very least, the other team is going to plunk you when they have the opportunity.

As someone who has been playing OOTP since 2015 and has done several multi-decade franchise runs, allow me to throw out some tips, for whatever they are worth..... More info is better, switch from stars to number ratings (1-100, 20-80) Potential is considerably more fickle than IRL Your 80 potential stud in the minors can be a 45 potential by next March, keep a close eye on your prospects, and be willing to trade them for a guy with a little less, but closer to being ML ready (My recent franchise as the Dodgers I traded a bunch of prospects that were years off and a couple of ok players, and threw in some later draft picks and stole Coby Mayo. 6 Years later he is the cornerstone of my offense and only 1 of the guys I traded even made it to the majors) Target players who are in AAA or young bench players in the majors and snatch them. Arbitration eligible for years. Draft picks below 3rd round rarely have any value (in OOTP) be willing to throw in 4th or later draft picks to get players through trade. There are some years where late 1st round picks are meh, but the computer GMS value them. You need more than 5 starters, unless you lower the injury rate. Your 6th and 7th starter (usually in AAA) need to be decent enough to fill in to at least a 0 WAR level. You will need them if you are a contender. I had a season once where I had 3 starters out for the season by May. By June if all of your starters are healthy, you've been lucky. It is immeasurably better to give a free agent more pure year for less years. Dont Chris Davis your franchise. A guy who is MVP caliber today (Ohtani, Soto, etc) can be back-up questionable in 3 years (it happens more frequently than IRL, IMO). First thing I did when I took over the Dodgers was trade Ohtani. Im not paying a 37 year old 40 million to be a back-up DH in 2029. I have noticed that newly acquired players during the season tend to slump for a few weeks. Sometimes they will start on an uptick but rarely in the game. Other than the first season, try not to turn over your roster too much (a mid season bullpen addition for a contender, good. Swapping 12 of your 26 players between April and June, bad. Chemistry hits, and the typical "new uniform? How do I hit again?" game mechanic. All of these are tips on the game, not statements about the real MLB. If you notice, they all revolve around the players consistency being less reliable than IRL.
