    Nice to see more material. The nimzo is one of the few openings that I dislike from both sides...on the few occasions that I end up with the white side I open in a similar fashion to your opponent, so this was pretty eye opening to see.

    thanks for the tips. just played a great game with it. took their Nc3 with B and knowing to blockade/target doubled pawns... also thinking about how to counter his Bishop pair - he played Bb2 and spent the rest of the game effectively without that piece...
    Your clear instructions really made me feel like I had total control as soon as I had the classic NI on my 3rd move.
    Brilliant stuff.

    Dereque, could you do a video on the Nimzo-Larsen Attack? I've been playing it as an opening for white. In some lines, it can be very alike a turbo-charged Nimzo-Indian, which in your opinion is the best reply to d4.

      @unlightenment Před 7 lety +1

      no problem! You can also mention that it can easily transpose into the Colle-Zukertort system, a very solid positional opening!

    Great video. Where is Part 2?

  • @unlightenment
    @unlightenment Před 7 lety +1

    I would, as white, play knight to f4, followed by bishop takes knight on f6, then pawn to c5, exchanging both bishops, but saving the pawn and moving it forward.

    Very nice! The Nimzo is one of my favorite openings. However, in my experience white often avoids it by not playing an early Nc3 but rather Nf3 instead.

      NisseHult101 You are right, I am one of those.

    • @daniyalhameed5509
      @daniyalhameed5509 Před 7 lety

      NisseHult101 But even after Nc3 and Bb4 white can get an edge, instead of queen c2 knight f3 is more concrete, which is known as the kasparov variation, I don't know the exact idea behind that as I am an intermediate player but this is also no 1 move of the engine, perhaps it boosts development and has influence in the centre, doubled pawns does not matter here because eventually the c4 pawn would be exchanged and pawn structure will become correct. in the game what white player did, I don't like it, moving the queen 2 times in the opening, this is what I say 'no' to.

    My "problem" in trying the Nimzoindian as black, is that in all my games, white NEVER plays 2. c4 T__T

    • @sircobalt5099
      @sircobalt5099 Před 7 lety

      Try the Horwitz Defense if you're ok with the french. d4 players usually avoid the french or sicilian so the line goes 1.d4 e6 2. c4 nf3

    • @ubiergo1978
      @ubiergo1978 Před 7 lety

      I mean that almost everytime, white player don't follow d4 - c4, my lines have been:
      1.- d4 g6 2.- anything but c4.
      2.- d4 Nf6 2.- anything but c4.
      3.- d4 d5 2.- anything but c4.
      4.- d4 Nc6 2.- anything but c4.
      5.- d4.....
      and so on. So my problem is "white not playing c4".
