I picked up mine for $139 prior to a 4000 mile coast to coast road trip. It was indispensable. I very much liked the low intrusion lights and relatively muted chirping. Starts off loud, then goes quiet. I found it to be Very Good on X, meaning hardly ever beeps at all unless you're right on a store's electric door. No cops on X so you want it to NEVER chirp. I only heard the x chirp once in 4000 miles. It chirped constantly for me on the freeway on K band. All those falses from car-based lane changing systems. Audi's, Lexuses, Buicks and hi end Toyotas make it go nuts. But you can turn K band completely off, which is what I did. It is SUPERB on Ka band, which is where you need it to be good. Never once falsed, picked up all threats before they are in visual range. Very easy to tell by the pattern of the beeps if the threat is in front, to the side, or in back of you. It picked them all up before the threat ever got close. Like the OP mentioned, the GPS speedometer read 2 mph faster than what my car read (with a police calibrated speedo) and what my Android head unit gps speedo calculated. So I believe he is correct... the speedo on these units reads a little fast. GPS muting has so far been a non issue for me. With K band turned off, it simply never beeps false. I didn't test the laser, no one does. If the cops are using laser on your street you're gonna get caught if they target you. Chances of catching a stray beam before they aim at you are low.
I found my DRF7 on ebay also for $139. Which I have to say was some of the best dollars invested about my car ever. Within a week I had most of the stationary false alerts set. Now I rarely get a false blip, I love it.
Thx
@@xhafts and I'm still using a 3 years later
Gave my DFR7 to my girlfriend. She still using it. I now use a DFR9 which has more bells and whistles. Great detectors 👍
I work at an Electronic store up in British Columbia, Canada. We carry the DFR5 DFR7 R1 and R3. Now with that being said I'm on a budget and I'm a student. I purchased the DFR5 and I have to say EVEN for Entry level, with non GPS, Uniden is amazing. If you can push your budget make the jump to the R1 and R3 for even better results.
Auto-lockouts on my Escort Max 360c MK ll can be done manually when it falses which isn't often, rather manually lock it out than wait for the radar detector to do it.
Thanks, I'll be getting one of these soon. Now I gotta look into a jammer.
ALP, if your going to buy a jammer...
How come these jammers aren't sold everywhere
shahid abid
Maybe because they are expensive? Seem to be from around $1k to $2k, I plan on getting one for my M3 but I'm putting it off for now, hoping the come down in price some, perhaps transmitters/receivers become smaller. Also waiting for more "wireless" options as they are something of a project to install.
Froggey what's alp
Jammers don’t work in America.
The reason it shows 1 MPH faster than your car does is because the speedos in cars are not very accurate. GPS based speed read outs are generally the most accurate you will get
Or he has after market rim / tires
yes you are correct about 10 percent for most cars
I just got the DFR7 and am switching from the Beltronics GX65 Pro. The GX65 has been amazing for several years now but as of recent I have been getting quite a few blindspots alerts. I'm hoping the Uniden works as well but without those blindspot alerts. Fingers crossed. If anyone has already switched from the GX65 I'd love to learn your opinions...
Hey question. Which is better. The DFR7 or the DFR8. And how do you set up the GPS or is the GPS automatic?
Hey can someone help me out. I wanna buy this product but i don’t want the cables in the middle. Im good with my hands, so if anyone can tell me what i need to buy to installed would be of great help.
Not many use X band any more. Most of X band are alarms or automatic door sensors for store. Zero cops in the state of washington use X band. One county in Oregon uses it still, only 1. And soon zero in the state of Oregon. So No real need for X band, its 99% of the time, not a cop when it goes off. But great review video.
I like my DFR7 also. The only thing I don't like is it is sometimes hard to see in bright sun light.
You should be able to turn off the initial testing to get it to stop with the startup voice prompts..
skyline you can turn it off. I just bought one and it let me turn off the voice prompts in the beginning.
The x band is rare these days its K or KA and Laser
X Band is still used In Ohio and New Jersey. There might be some smaller poor towns around the country that still uses X band.
Ka band mainly
1:37 Why didn't you show us the cop?
how accurate is the speedometer on the detector? also how to you know if theres a false alert
so I just want to know when cops are around can I just leave it with Ka band on?
On a scale with this radar how would you rate this? Like is it better than the DFR5?? Also is it true you need to download a software for the DFR7 to work??
I just purchased this model today
How do you set the date and time?
620 Stamm Rapids
The Uniden DRF6 was on clearance for $79.31 at my local Sam's Club store. It is a good deal?
Good deal imo
How about the short range laser cameras, Does it get the signal from a fare distance? Thanks
I don't have any experience with those.
I just purchased mine 2 weeks ago and I love it but It stopped working 😣 can you help me on this please
johnny johnson did you expose it to extreme temperatures?
Defeat the "auto mute" feature. Makes you feel safe when you're not.
Excellent video....
I love mine!
Can u use Ka and K band together?
You really don't have to worry about X Band police radar. Only a couple of states allow use of X Band. In Florida, where I live, K and Ka are legal to use, X Band is not. I have X Band turned off on my DFR 7
+joeleiter They use it quite a bit in SC.
leno vogh good one
leno vogh absolutely junk!
Buy it if you WANT a speeding ticket.
MikesCarInfo Do you live in SC? I live there and am thinking about buying one of these. Is it still working good for you?
@@easports195 no He threw it in the garbage
How's the range on it compared to other detectors? Also can't you turn off X and K band entirely to have less false alarms?
I haven't used a bunch of detectors to compare the range but I would say it is 2 miles or so on the open road. The detection is much faster than other detectors i have used though.
Yes you can turn off X and K if you want. This detector does a poor job of picking up x band anyway.
@@MikesCarInfowait actually? I only had it for one day and saw one cop but I only noticed him like 1/8 a mile before. Idk if he was point radar forward or what because it was a construction zone with traffic
Where can I we get the mount?
is this one better then the Escort X80??
Can you hear it over music if your playing some ?
Yes it starts off quite loud.
Thankss!!!
Where did you get the wiring harness?
Would you prefer this one or the cobra 480i?
All day long yes! I have had my DFR7 for 2 years now and it has outperformed my Cobra 480i. I ran both for 6 months just to see the difference. You can not go wrong with the DFR7 it is head and shoulders above.
Hey Mike, what mirror mount is that? Do you have a link to it?
It is just some cheapo I got off ebay
it's a blend mount available on eBay and amazon they have them for a lot of different models and manufactures
Radar mount mounts are made in the US also their design is a little different you buy them from their eBay or amazon store or directly from their website thier uniden mount does not fit the rd1 or the rd3 but the included windshield mount can be screwed into their mount without the suction cups and works well still a little more money then the cheap chinese counterfeit ones I have one on my uniden rd 3 and love it it is very stable hopefully they will come out with one for the rd1 and rd3 soon like blendmount did
Cobra 450 works well
Hey there, Does these devices don't work in UAE? cause I bought DFR7 and I didn't get any result !!
Any recommendations?
Mine randomly just goes off for no reason at all
Could be blind spot monitor systems on cars around you.
Or automatic doors at nearby stores.
Mikie! You got some nice looking thumbs, boy!
Does this work in the UK ???
No
What about false alarms ( blind spot sensors etc ) also does it pick up speed cameras?
SAM GH yes it should
Did you watch the video? He covers both things. It filters blind spot radars on cars and it verbally tells you a speed camera is ahead and tells you if you are going over the speed limit. I own this model too
nice i was looking for someone acutelly owns it i have few questions since you used it ..
how well does it detect k band and whats the range ?
doesn't give you alot of false alarms ?
finally here its mostly laser cameras is the detection range good for it ?
i'm lost between that one and v1 but v1 is really expensive
thank you
SAM GH I found the K and Ka bands were good. Very good range (of course depending on surroundings such as built up area vs flat open areas) but Uniden has one of the best ranges across the board. Laser is excellent it saved me a few days back with a cop with a speed gun on the side of the road. Plenty of time with the warnings. False alarms are minimal. Having the GPS built in makes it easy to programme false alarms from shop doors etc. I'd recommend it
That would be nice but to bad
what’s state do u live in
NC
MikesCarInfo oh ok i was wondering since i live in va and detectors are illegal here, i’ve heard it’s undetectable but how stealth it is?
I wouldn't take a chance
How's your Challenger running ?
+Iceman R Perfect, quick, with great mpg as well :)
Thanks Mike, im looking to get the GT challenger in September
@@MrTerrific you mean RT challenger
I don't give a fuck about first try silent alerts whatever

STOP SAYING "SO"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why should he? You can easily click off the video if it bothers you that much... but apparently you’re so bothered by someone you don’t even know saying “so” you have to take time out of your life to come and leave a ignorant comment lol. Why don’t you go make some CZcams videos of your own if it bothers you that much. No ones forcing you to watch it lol
