I picked up mine for $139 prior to a 4000 mile coast to coast road trip. It was indispensable. I very much liked the low intrusion lights and relatively muted chirping. Starts off loud, then goes quiet. I found it to be Very Good on X, meaning hardly ever beeps at all unless you're right on a store's electric door. No cops on X so you want it to NEVER chirp. I only heard the x chirp once in 4000 miles. It chirped constantly for me on the freeway on K band. All those falses from car-based lane changing systems. Audi's, Lexuses, Buicks and hi end Toyotas make it go nuts. But you can turn K band completely off, which is what I did. It is SUPERB on Ka band, which is where you need it to be good. Never once falsed, picked up all threats before they are in visual range. Very easy to tell by the pattern of the beeps if the threat is in front, to the side, or in back of you. It picked them all up before the threat ever got close. Like the OP mentioned, the GPS speedometer read 2 mph faster than what my car read (with a police calibrated speedo) and what my Android head unit gps speedo calculated. So I believe he is correct... the speedo on these units reads a little fast. GPS muting has so far been a non issue for me. With K band turned off, it simply never beeps false. I didn't test the laser, no one does. If the cops are using laser on your street you're gonna get caught if they target you. Chances of catching a stray beam before they aim at you are low.

I found my DRF7 on ebay also for $139. Which I have to say was some of the best dollars invested about my car ever. Within a week I had most of the stationary false alerts set. Now I rarely get a false blip, I love it.

I work at an Electronic store up in British Columbia, Canada. We carry the DFR5 DFR7 R1 and R3. Now with that being said I'm on a budget and I'm a student. I purchased the DFR5 and I have to say EVEN for Entry level, with non GPS, Uniden is amazing. If you can push your budget make the jump to the R1 and R3 for even better results.

Maybe because they are expensive? Seem to be from around $1k to $2k, I plan on getting one for my M3 but I'm putting it off for now, hoping the come down in price some, perhaps transmitters/receivers become smaller. Also waiting for more "wireless" options as they are something of a project to install.

Not many use X band any more. Most of X band are alarms or automatic door sensors for store. Zero cops in the state of washington use X band. One county in Oregon uses it still, only 1. And soon zero in the state of Oregon. So No real need for X band, its 99% of the time, not a cop when it goes off. But great review video.

I haven't used a bunch of detectors to compare the range but I would say it is 2 miles or so on the open road. The detection is much faster than other detectors i have used though.

SAM GH I found the K and Ka bands were good. Very good range (of course depending on surroundings such as built up area vs flat open areas) but Uniden has one of the best ranges across the board. Laser is excellent it saved me a few days back with a cop with a speed gun on the side of the road. Plenty of time with the warnings. False alarms are minimal. Having the GPS built in makes it easy to programme false alarms from shop doors etc. I'd recommend it
