I really enjoy your content for its variety, its nice to hear all of the analysis with the SoS detachment, but its also really nice to hear about non-meta options and other detachments
Don't let the haters get you down. By the blood.
It’s a question, but sanguinary priest can be attached to assault intercessors with a captain’ surely you would do this for the extra damage output as well as the free red rampage strat and the priests 5++ also the ap+1
The captain is really good for making them s7 in the charge. Getting those 3+ to wound on s6 or even +2 with Red rampage just deletes enemy heavy infantey units
The key to Assault Termies is to run LC's with the Librarian Term, popping Red Rampage strat, you'll get 30 strength 7 attacks, Lethals (wounding any vehicle/monster on 4's twin linked with Lance) and sustained hits 1. I think in all my games I've played with them so far, I've been able to land at least 16 or 17, -2AP wounds on a big scary before the librarian does his attacks so they're def no slouch if you can get them in melee
but their ability of useless
ANd you still need to deliver them
@@DrAculushka easy enough to deliver to a corner turn one and be a pest they can't ignore with Wings of Sanguinis, or put them in deep strike with the Teleport Homer to rapid ingress them. Or hell, people like rocking Land Raiders and Repulsors now, those will deliver those guys easy enough
I was already using terminators and the DC dread so I'm happy. DC intercessors for the price is good on the backfield with a free overwatch and built in reroll hits.
Potentially…to make up for the Terminator Assault Squad WS4 hammers you take an Ancient in Terminator Armour, but you need to lose a model for the +1 to hit. This lends itself to a 10 model squad and at the point you may as well go all in with Terminator Captain for it too and give the characters Icon of the Angel and Visage of Death! Quarter of the army in points, but it’ll hit hard out of Deep Strike so long as you can make multi- charges on a free reroll…!

On the show tonight!
The brutalis should be mentioned here too
Something worth noting with the death company dreadnaught is that the UKTC ruling is it's ability doesn't let it attack again in the fight phase. Different events rule differently on whether this overrides the core rule regarding only one activation per unit in the fight phase, so check the ruling before considering it for a tournament list.
Glad I don’t play there then, if you can only fight once a phase then there is no point in bringing it
Considering the up on SP, i think Corbulo may be a good and cheap choice for Assault Intercessors. What do you think about it ? I totally agree with you about Lemartes and a 10 men DC squad and i think i ll run only DC on foot + Rhino now. Great job on your channel. Thanks (from France)
I guess they forgot corbulo basically does the same thing. His rules are kinda terrible for a named character though!
Battleslates absolutely are better than the alternative. It's not perfect and every 3 months gives the opportunity to adjust slowly and not make it worse over correcting. I'm not happy with the state of BA but we don't have our codex yet. But so many different armies are winning tournaments. Be patient...especially if you don't play on gw terrain....I've never seen the ones you play in America.
Jump intercessors are good because gw wants to move them lol
They do but they're such a bad value....compared to 3d printing jump packs or even using the heresy assault squad.
@@alms07 I myself converted foot intercessors, spikey bits has some pretty sweet jumppacks
I can't see "fight on death" for the Death Company Marines. Or are you referring to the "ONLY IN DEATH DOES DUTY END" stratagem?
Yes it’s the strat
Yeah….. a lot of vehicles may see a hike unless GW decide to address the culprit.
It’s popular in Dark Angel circles to run vehicles with Darkshrouds. I’m not sure that 260 will shut that down, but stormravens with -1 hit and cover out in the open has apparently become the dream.
I am surprised more unforgiven haven’t taken to running whirlwinds with DSs. The redemptors see a lot of play, may not see a drop for them anytime soon….
We are not to blame for eliminator thing though. It’s just a thing a number of players did/do because they can. Las Fusil spam. Hear it’s quite handy too.
Love your content I'm learning alot on how to run the Sons of the Angel in 10th.... For me the Dataslate is good but I don't think it is utilised very well by GW
120 points for a T4, 4 Wound, and 3+ save model is nuts!
This is cynical of me, but I believe balance data slates are working exactly as intended, John. Moving models.
definitely feels applicable to vindicators, jeez
Don’t chase the meta and you’ll be fine. The only “tanks” I’ve ever run are land raiders and rhinos. I’ve only played SOS detachment and play a jump pack heavy, melee heavy army the same I always have.
Only 7 games in 10th (busy with work and school), but undefeated so far. (Orks, Tsons, CSM, Necrons, and Greyknights)
Everyone complains how disconnected departments of gw are and that's the cause of disfunction....then says that rules and sales are coordinated. It's one or the other. I don't think this is it. Otherwise the boxsets they sell would be the meta units.
@@BloodBuffalo I mean... It's not particularly hard to extrapolate inceptors are selling well based on how many are showing up to events, and then nerf them. Or how badly sang guard are doing sales wise by the same metric, and then keep lowering the points, hoping the community bites. You don't need particularly intense communication do you?
@@BloodBuffalo also assault intercessors with jump packs was the last space marine box set lol
Can you make a video covering Blood angles in Combat patrol? Many new players like myself have purchased combat patrol boxes and enjoy playing combat patrol.
DeathCompany Dreads are really great now with the point reduction, it is a missile in the enemy backfield that just kills everything it touches. With the 6inch consolidation it can just chew during the enemy lines until it is dead
How would you get it to the backfield?
Strategie Reserve
@felixmichael2904 ok. Thank you. I thought the same but was hoping there might be a better method.
Or you can take the Legends Dreadnought Droppod but i dont think that it is worth it
Yea. I considered the storm raven in inron strom detachment initially. The 1cp strat to explode the stromraven in the heart of the enemy lines and then drop the drednaught and other units in the backlines seemed pretty good. But with the points hike im not sure its worth it.
I think thunder hammer should do 3 dmg keeping there hit 4+ making them a lot more deadly and making it more different for a power fist since all you get is dev wounds & -1 hit compared to a powerfist
Keep doing what you’re doing! SOS is soo much fun but being brutalised by games workshop. I keep jumping over to a ironstorm list because I love dreadnaughts. Actually won 3 friendly games with my ironstorm list you viewed in Sunday. But trying to switch up back to SOS because it just wasn’t fun! Love your streams. Keep going! For the Blood of Sanguinous!
To me the nerfs look like they are targeted at the things that are getting rumoured refreshed.
Odd how it seems to match up.
Sang Priest, Lemartes, DC Jump Ints, I think the Sang Guard points is going to stay as is to match the new Sang guard data sheet we get, and hopefully they are as good as that points cost
There is a new astorath.
Happy about the terminators
Noneplused about the death comp Intercessors no real reason to take them over the regular ones
Sang guard is a move in the right direction but but they don’t really excel at a roll in significant enough way to make taking them a priority
The dc dred is a really cool move so taking one for testing is somthing I would consider.
Tactical squads aren’t good enough to replace any unit at a list.
I think Space Marines will forever be under 50% because all of the kids and their dads play the game, and their overwhelming popularity means every meta list will have at least some anti-MEQ.
Clearly the solution is Scout Horde 😮
Don't feel bad for playing gladius John. I've said it before but I feel it's the strongest by design so that GW has less factions to balance. But ultimately it doesn't matter WHY it's the strongest, only whether or not it IS :)
I started buying and painting Aeldari, so if they mess up with rules I have my BA and a Xenos army.
Seems smart!
Nothing annoys me more than people trying to "No True Scotsman" an army list. I've played the TCG Yu-Gi-Oh a lot, and there's a lot of that there too; a lot of "that's not a PROPER [whatever] deck!" because you didn't use whatever pretend threshold of cards they decide makes it proper. I like that 10th has made it so much easier to play the army you like by divorcing rules from lore. I like that now instead of having the one Blood Angels army rule, I have the whole span of the Space Marine detachments to pick and choose from based on what I'm interested in running. If I want to play a bunch of tanks, I play Ironstorm. If I want to play mechanized marines, I play Firestorm. If I want to play a balanced, option-rich game, I pick Gladius. If I want to lose, I pick Anvil Siege Force. But the _important_ part is that I _don't have to buy new models or repaint_ just because the armored tank detachment is indelibly tied to the black-armored Iron Hands. I can just play the Marines I like, the Blood Angels, because I like their lore and aesthetic! I get to use their unique models but I have so many different rules to choose from! And if people think I'm not playing a "proper" Blood Angels list because I'm not using Sons of Sanguinius (which I do enjoy using but is a much more niche detachment) or I'm not using enough Blood Angels-specific units (which is, again, entirely up to them and something I can never live up to because they can just move the goalposts), fuck them. It's my army. Build your own. Maybe I want to play gunline Marines with tanks. I'm still gonna paint them red and say they're Blood Angels because they're my favorites and I can just do that now.
Thanks John :)
I'm sure that Blood Angels will get a major buff this summer when they get their refresh.
I just hope they don't give us "simplified" DC with Jump Packs, like they did with DC Intercessors. I love having a big selection of weapons, especially running 10 Power Fists with hand flamers. Being forced to run (for example) chainswords and bolt pistol with only 1 out of 5 models getting a better melee weapon, would be a huge let-down.
Are you sure? Almost every codex release seems to make their respective armies worse and not better
@@jamesd.980 Maybe the move is to make everything bad so it all evens out. 😅
You sir, are not kidding. My big pet peeve is Desolators going up to 150 then 200 because one detachment (Gladius) could do its Dev doc on them, and have an Apothecary with 10 of them at the time use the Fire disp artifact plus the pre nerfed Oath of moment. the only good fix was just not allow that artifact in the unit plus the 5 man unit only.
How do the DC on foot fight on death? Sorry if its a well known one, but I don't know it.
the Only in Death Does Duty End strategem
@@adamcharman8726 Of course - thanks
2 CP Strat.
I think Terminators with S10 Powerfists are great, they dont need lethal hits or lance to wound good and are still decently cheap because you dont need a character at all. That beeing said, a big Unit with a Librarian might be really good vs TS and they have Sustained so you can even fish for sixes with oath if you really need something dead. I guess the extra wounds on the Assault variant would be worth it, missing out in the +1 hit thou.
Two Vindicators will make the cut in a lot of lists for the price, especially if you dont take the Eradicators/Biologus in Gladius.
JPIntercessors with Priest are a solid stat check for the enemy army. Your army cant kill 30 of them quickly? GG
Edit: If anyone is playing Blood Angels it is you! There is no point to not consider all options. I wish someone would be as passionate about my Space Wolves. Here take my subscription and a thumbs up.
I thought dataslate (balance and rules changed) and Munitorum Field Manual (points changes) were two different things I got so hyped seeing Sang Guard in thumbnail thinking their rules changed.
Yeah, it’s hard to know, It seems sometimes it’s called the dataslate, sometimes it’s just called the field manual. Sorry, if the thumbnail or title was misleading, it wasn’t my intention.
I noticed furiosa stayed 150, very interesting
It should have dropped... right?
Are dataslates a good thing - yes I would like some attempt to balance its better than the old days of no attempt
However they are trying to balance factions competatively not all units within a codex.
Also in GW defence if they made radical changes everywhere there is a likelihood they make something broken - I would love fortifications and the Servo turret back
Love the content ... missleading title though
Sorry :(
how long have you been seeing me trying to make the stormraven, OUR MAIN FLYER work? and they go and nerf it AGAIN the dam thing should have assault ramp for how much it costs. GW dosnt know how to make a balanced tapletop at the moment
I've been using lightning claw terminators and a captain to be dropped off by a stormraven with a brutalis.
They good?
@@ba_commander the raw melee output is fantastic. I dont bother with thunder hammers because of the 4+ ws. Twin linked melee weapons and mobility helps me milk the advantages of sons of sanguinius. They can be a great spearhead for the army if you have good ranged units to follow them as they take objectives or wipe out targets.
I also don’t know why JAI are so cheap for what they do - but they kill a lot of things in the game just by weight of dice! Especially with AP-2 and Red Rampage for lethals and Lance!
Because you need 10 to use them properly. And it is 2 boxes.
@@BloodyArchangelus oh, I’m not going to give GW money for those ugly models. I’m putting on my eyepatch, mascara eyeliner and sing songs about sugarcane-based liquor!
@@BloodyArchangelus hm, my other reply sort of vanished?
But yeah, I’m not buying those intercessors when there’s upscaled MkVII models around
Isn’t it 160 for 10 Jump Intercessors?
Yes correct! I recommend you run 30 of them!
@@ba_commander ohhhhh
Try the worse unit, Reivers
(10 man) With Phobos LT for 3d6 charge out of deep strike or any time really. They are good at removing soft targets
If Reivers had -2AP for their guns and knives they'd be much better for 'Precision' character assassinations...and perhaps be taken in some lists... The Reiver Lt needs to be re-imagined to also have a Grav-chute option to actually Deep Strike with the Reiver unit. This has always been one of GW biggest fails! He also needs more Damage on his knife to be more of a character assassin similarly to the Judiciar's weapon. Perhaps when his Reiver unit is destroyed he then becomes a 'Lone Op' (at the end of the phase) that would also be a great rule addition for him.
@@HighlandPhoenix that's why I'd take the Phobos Lt. over the Reiver Lt. every time.
I'm still using the easy build Reivers from 8th edition because I wasn't spending more money on them.
15:30
I disagree when DC on foot die they get stronger if only one model out of 10 is dead
In any other cases statistically they just maintain their full power(if you roll bunch of 6s ofc they are OP)
If you fight on death with a whole unit dead, every model gets a sustained 2. This is why I think they’re broken overpowered.
@@ba_commander overpowered dead unit
💀💀💀💀💀
Stay strong!
Let’s goooooo
I thoroughly enjoy my death company painted Stormraven dropping my DC dredd and 10 marines plus chaplain on my enemy 😂
Gravis is cool.
I just think 10th is a wet fart. They have no idea how to balance the detachments and space marines as a whole is suffering. I’m not sure I’ve even enjoyed a game in 10th. In 9th me and my group were playing every Saturday and now it’s maybe once a month or every other month now.
I’m insanely worried for our codex and that it’ll kill a lot of firstborn units that aren’t sanguinary guard and dc and after looking at how awful the codex’s have been I don’t know how I feel anymore.
Just feels bland now.
Anyone else have the 10th Ed blues?
I don’t but I know a lot of people that do😓
try 10 man van vets with priest, its really annoying. hitting someone with like 30 plus vv and dc at the same time is devestating
I did like the 10vv with priest but now maybe just thinking of doing 20 jump ints
@@ba_commander or maybe just 5man jump ints? They punsh up really well with nade and and impacts if they need to help out somewhere and bully all the trash around the board
Great video…. come back to Gladius, the haters gonna hate! Blood Angels are more than just SoS, you’re blood angels not Flesh tearers!
John really sleeping on tactical potential
I don’t think so lol.
@@ba_commander 😴
Its so disappointing to be bottom of the meta for so long and have a nerf in every dataslate. The explanation offered on meta watch was a joke. I am not buying more and more models every time GW remove our viable units, I have committed to working only on my pile of shame until GW get a grip and give BA some help.
More power to you my friend!
I rejoined 40k at the transition from 8th (didnt play it though) to 9th. Deathwatch has always been my favourite loyalist subfaction but halfway through 9th I just felt like playing Blood Angels was more fun (and is / was better supported by GW). The thing is that Death Guard is the only faction I've continued playing since I came back, Space Marines are just all over the place (unless you play Black Templars)
EDIT: all that to say "being a Deathwatch player (when playing SMs) has been such a sad journey" I dont mind getting folded into another (sub)faction if that means I'd be able to field them without feeling,.. neglected or dare I even say forgotten.
The time between some armies updates and releases is too long imo. 40k isn't that friendly to someone who plays only 1 army.
Honestly sucks that jump death company went up imo. I see literally 0 reason to use them over the on foot ones now. That being said foot death company are still incredibly strong and I'll be fielding two 10 mans in Rhinos for the foreseeable future. Did a number crunch and they basically 1 shot everything fielded in the meta with over a 90% odds. I think it's definitely our strongest combo.
Sons of Sanguinius BA are currently sitting on a 51% WR for what it's worth! 🫡
I couldn't find the metawatch win rates? Do you have a link?
@@ba_commander Sent you a pm. You won't find detachment specific Win Rates on GW's Metawatch(unless you're an army still using just your index detachment of course!)
