In 1997 I was living with my relatives in Melbourne and went for opening day of Australian Open in Melbourne. I remember it being a a very hot day in the mid to late 30s centigrade, I was walking around in the heat and really feeling it on the plus side it was a brilliant sunny summers day in Melbourne I thought if I am feeling it and tired just walking around and I was quite fit and young then in my early 20s how are the stars feeling it? at about mid day I saw the stars of the day at close range. I spotted a tired Thomas Muster walking past after a grueling match in the heat against an opening round opponent. Then suddenly saw a laughing Martina Hingis Practicing on a court close range. Great thing about tennis at least back then a sports fan can get really close to a player almost within talking distance. Anyway saw Martina Hingis. I thought this is a good looking lady I hope she wins this grandslam tournament and two weeks later she did win the Australian Open back in January 1997. Good memories of my time in that sports mad city called Melbourne with my relatives. I miss those days. This video brings back memories from 26 years ago of my time in Melbourne in the 1990s.
That’s a great memory from the 90s! I have a fine memory of seeing Martina and AK playing doubles on the teeny tiny grandstand court at the U.S. Open back then. that was a fun match. Great to see them in person!
The teenage QUEEN. Undisputed. I was there watching all of it, and she let me know that there was NO HOPE for any other teenagers trying to break through in their 20s.
I like how she frames that FO loss in 97, saying maybe she wouldn't have been so hungry to win WO if she had won the FO. Most people frame that year as Hingis was one match away from the calendar slam. She definitely has more gratitude than regret and that's great to see.

A good doc would be "HINGIS 97"... with flashbacks here and there of early life or a quick early life bit at the start and maybe some quick bits 95 96. It's a good story in sport and theyre good at making these zoomed in time frame docs these days i reckon this could be a good one.... Edit.. Would it be a bit odd to put the FO loss at the end??.. ha..artistic licence
