Wow I'm 30 and I have had adhd all my life. I consider myself to be fairly intelligent but could never remember where the states where located and would always forget one a few.. You just put me in awe
0:46~ cant : california, arizona, new mexico, texas
1:09 ~ nuck : nevada, utah, colorado, kansas
2:04 ~ at the top it goes : north dakota, south dakota, nebraska
2:15 ~ oklahoma : is shaped like a knife and the handle is made of oak
2:28 ~ next to north dakota is montana ( the edges look like mountains )
2:44 ~ idaho : next to montana and looks like a lower case i
2:55 ~ washington : is next to the water, you think ‘Woah’ because you don’t want to go in the water
2:58 ~ oregon : below washington
3:08 ~ mimal ( shaped like a chef ) : Minnesota , iowa, missouri
3:32 ~ minnesota ~ mini mouse ( minnesota )
3:39 ~ iowa ~ where the chefs eye is
3:47 ~missouri ~ where his heart is ( if he gets hit we need it to ‘miss’ his heart )
4:04 ~ arkansas and louisiana , louisiana is shaped like an L
4:20 ~ at the chest there is a straight area : the square is tennesee, on top of that is kentucky
4:40 ~ the chef is holding a ten plates, tennessee + on the plate is ‘kentucky’ fried chicken
5:05 ~ wisconsin ( top ), illinois ( underneath wisconsin ), indiana ( next to illinois ), ohio, ( next to the two I’s ), michigan (above io), and pennsylvania
5:35 ~ maine, on the top ( the “main” point of the mao )
5:45 ~ new hampshire ( it’s shaped like a backwards h )
5:48 ~ vermont, shaped like a V
5:50 ~ ‘massive’ hook shape - massachusetts

Great memory hints, but PLEASE include the each state, correct spelling of each state and it’s capital, as part of the recap. It would help leave those details as a lasting long term memory, then, I would rate it perfectly done.
Just went into my sophomore year of highschool, got a test on the 4th day that I’m studying for and it’s memorizing all 50 states first thing 😭😭😭😭

This is so useful! Back in the B.C. days I often went to pub quizzes in Germany, and there were quite frequently questions about which state is which. Thank you! Also I have the weirdest ways to remember Korean vocab. Here we call those ways donkey bridges (Eselsbrücken).

Here are 2 series of statements that may help you learn and memorize the names and 2 letter postal abbreviations of the 50 states as well.
There are 4 states that begin with the letter A: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, and Arkansas
There are 3 states that begin with the letter C: California, Colorado, and Connecticut
There is 1 state that begins with the letter D: Delaware
There is 1 state that begins with the letter F: Florida
There is 1 state that begins with the letter G: Georgia
There is 1 state that begins with the letter H: Hawaii
There are 4 states that begin with the letter I: Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, and Iowa
There are 2 states that begin with the letter K: Kansas and Kentucky
There is 1 state that begins with the letter L: Louisiana
There are 8 states that begin with the letter M: Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, and Montana
There are 8 states that begin with the letter N: Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, and North Dakota.
There are 3 states that begin with the letter O: Ohio, Oklahoma, and Oregon
There is 1 state that begins with the letter P: Pennsylvania
There is 1 state that begins with the letter R: Rhode Island
There are 2 states that begin with the letter S: South Carolina and South Dakota
There are 2 states that begin with the letter T: Tennessee and Texas
There is 1 state that begins with the letter U: Utah
There are 2 states that begin with the letter V: Vermont and Virginia
There are 4 states that begin with the letter W: Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
The 2 letter postal codes for the 50 U.S. states are as follows.
1) The first letter of each states 2 letter postal code is the first letter in the name of that state. This is true for all 50 states.
2) There are 10 states that have a 2 word state name. For each of these 10 states the 2 letter postal code is the first letter of both words.
New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, and West Virginia
3) The 2 letter postal code for each of the following states is the 1st and 2nd letter in that states name
Alabama, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin, and Wyoming
4) The 2 letter postal code for each of the following states is the 1st and 3rd letters in that states name.
Minnesota, Mississippi, Nevada, Tennessee, and Texas
5) The 2 letter postal code for each of the following states is the 1st and LAST letter in that states name
Connecticut, Georgia, Hawaii, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Vermont, and Virginia
6) These 4 states do not follow rules 2, 3, 4, or 5 at all.
Alaska, Arizona, Missouri, and Montana.
Hopefully these 2 series of statements can help you learn this whole video a little easier as well.
Here are a few other facts that may help you learn parts of this video as well.
Hawaii and Alaska do not not border any other U.S. states.
Maine borders only 1 other U.S. state (New Hampshire)
Florida, Rhode Island, and Washington border only 2 other U.S. states. All other states border at least 3 other states.
Missouri and Tennessee each border 8 other states.
(Missouri borders Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Illinois)
(Tennessee borders Kentucky, Missouri, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, and Virginia)
The 5 great lakes touch 8 U.S. states. They are Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York.
4 U.S. states border Mexico. Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California.
13 U.S. states border Canada. They are Alaska, Washington, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine.

I’m studying for a job interview in logistics AND THIS HELPED ME SOOOO MUCH!!!!!!! I feel so much for confident to take the state abbreviation test now!!!! My little brain cheat sheet
I did not think that it was possible for me, as a Brit, to be able to memorise not just all fifty US States, but to be able to label them on a map! After watching Miss Alexander's video about five times, I probably had 80% memorised. With practice, I can now label a blank map with ease. This comes in very handy when watching UK game shows like 'Tenable' where they might ask, for £25,000 to list the first ten States that have some particular feature, eg start and end in a vowel or maybe have more than so many letters in the name or whatever. Great being able to pause the recording, rattle them off by mentally wandering across the USA!
I look forward to seeing you come up with a video like this to be able to remember Best Picture Oscar winners from 1970 to date, or possibly up to 1970.

I am 54 almost and I still can't tell you where all of the states are, though I can name many of them. I am visual and I think I will learn this for sure. I will study it. As a graduate I applied for the PO and I had to take a test to get it, I scored 100 percent because I learned streets and numbers as stories, got hired and worked for 15 years. I will try this now, I didn't think of it before. Thanks, it was funny and that is why I will remember it

Update: She knew maybe 25% of the States on Saturday night when we found your video, by Monday night she was at 100%. We combined this with the US Online Quiz at world-geography-games. She aced her test (50/50) on Tuesday, and has been asked to be a "Coach" for other students on their retest! Thank you again!
first time I took my state test I got a 43% then a 38% I watched this video it helped so much thank you. Now I'm at 54% and my classmates make fun of me for saying duck out loud. guess I'll be home schooled here in rhode isalnds. peace out losing wifi

These mnemonics are really good. But also, Id like to point that if you learn cultural and random things about each state, that really gives a lot of context, a lot of personality, and the mind starts to kind of know the states as a person, with a face, expressions, emotions.. and then it really becomes an entity of its own. Just like you think of the US for example: its flag, shape and position in the map are stuck with you because it's like a person, your remember that whole "face", that whole "figure" as a single entity, instead of a hundred separate small things.
Better than all the rest!!! U have never been able to remember them all. Helped a lot! I dont know why Massachusetts is so hard for me to place.

I knew all 48 states in my 6th grade back in 1944. I just had the picture of the US map in my mind, and could name them all by starting with Maine. Capitals took a little memorizing, but they roll of my tongue real easy.
