Liam Kelly on referee Craig Napier: "I asked him politely if if I could speak to him to explain his decision. I disagree with his decision completely um on the red? On the red card yes. In my opinion he never gave himself one second to even think about it. Just to have control of the situation just to maybe take a minute analyze situation and give a I think if he gives a yellow card there then VAR definitely would to get involved you know what I mean so um and I don't mind I don't mind the referee make a mistake I don't mind referees make mistakes like I think VAR definitely has benefited us. I don't know of anyone's opinion different to that. But I just didn't enjoy the way he was speaking to people today just as like a guy I don't care about his position just as a guy just just be sound to people don't be so arrogant with people that's what I said to him I don't care whether youve made a mistake or not but just be a sound person I mean don't don't be um some of the stuff he was saying was just so arrogant um like I said I don't mind he makes mistakes we all make loads of mistakes and I know line of work um referees, players, coaches, even fans we all like to shout shout and make mistakes but you can never get away for just being a decent person and the way I spoke to some people just pure arrogant and I didn't like it at all. But like for me the best refs in the league for me speak to you just like a normal person. Just a normal guy. Yes they might have got it wrong, they might have got it right in the sound way but I didn't enjoy the way he spoke to people today. I didn't enjoy it"
Amidst the intensity of football matches, emotions often run high, decisions are scrutinized, and opinions clash. Such was the case during the recent clash between Motherwell and Aberdeen, where a controversial red card decision sparked a heated exchange of words.
Motherwell found themselves on the wrong end of the referee's decision when a player received a red card during the match against Aberdeen. The decision prompted a reaction from Motherwell's camp, with one of their representatives expressing vehement disagreement with the referee's call.
In a candid post-match interview, the Motherwell representative detailed the encounter with the referee, highlighting their dissatisfaction with the handling of the situation. The representative emphasized that the player in question was not afforded the opportunity for a moment's contemplation or a chance to assess the situation, which they believed was necessary for fair judgment.
While acknowledging that referees, like everyone else, are prone to mistakes, the Motherwell representative stressed the importance of maintaining respectful conduct, regardless of the circumstances. They criticized what they perceived as arrogance in the referee's demeanour and emphasized the need for basic decency in interactions, irrespective of one's position.
The representative's remarks shed light on the broader issue of sportsmanship and conduct on the field. They underscored the significance of treating others with respect and dignity, even in the midst of disagreements or contentious moments.
Ultimately, the incident serves as a reminder of the passion and intensity inherent in football, where emotions often run high. However, it also highlights the importance of maintaining composure and mutual respect, both on and off the pitch, for the integrity of the game and the well-being of all involved.

The only ball the Motherwell player won was both of Jack McKenzies. Red all day long.

Did he make a mistake? Just because he doesn’t want to get into a debate with a player doesn’t make him arrogant, he’s in charge, he’s made his decision and doesn’t want to debate it. Your guy puts his studs into another guys knackers. Your argument is he shouldn’t have challenged for the ball. Once your feet get as high as your guys gets if you whack someone you’re at fault all day long.
