    I'm Singaporean, I suggest you try out these foods:
    Laksa ( Thick Rice Noodles in Curry like soup)
    Chicken Rice ( The rice tastes like chicken, I'm sure you'll be amazed by what it tastes like)
    Chili Crab ( the holy grail, this is sooo good, can't get enough of this!)
    This few are quite popular in SG, Singaporeans, I want you to comment below the best Laksa/Chicken Rice/ Chili Crab you can find!

      I think you mean "multi-racial" or "multi-ethnicity," multi-rational doesn't really mean anything. But you're right, your part of the World has many different rich cultures and heritages that all provide their own flavor.Plus, I don't know if I've ever had ANY Asian food I didn't like. Then again, I hit the Asian grocery at least once a month and I snack on dried cuttlefish. I'm a weird American.

    malaysia and singapore basically share the same foods. malaysian go to singapore to eat hainan chicken rice and they often come here to eat nasi lemak and laksa. other than that, singlish and manglish are basically the same Rojak language. we speak the same language anyway. we're the same country until the separation. and this both country share alot of similarities to indonesian cuisine when it comes to savoury. instead of just mentioning 'Singapore', you could mention Malaysia too.

    For all those saying that the foods originated from their country, I'm pretty sure the countries use different spices and stuff to make the dishes different or more unique. Just like how there's Singaporean curry, and Indian curry, and Thai curry. They don't sure don't taste the same, but they're sort of the same dish. There's also the Singaporean Laksa, and laksa from other countries, yes? So stfu and stop trying to take ownership of a dish that other countries perfected when yours couldn't.

      instead of the notion that drives them to thinking that "just because the food originates from their country: it's theirs', I believe it may innately be more of a political connotation that drives them to such arguments. Like the whole thing with satay, where the Indonesian street food culture is actually highly politicised (obviously, for tourism revenue) and satay happens to be one of the main attraction - and seeing this video indirectly claim it as Singaporean - no surprise over the apparent backlash.

    • @faithlim3158
      @faithlim3158 Před 7 lety

      Yeah, and Singapore is made up from people from all over the world, so of course, the main idea of the food will originate from some where else.

      melon seeds are mostly consumed by the older generation (pioneer batch). Its meant as a past time snack plus it gives the person something to do with their hands and mouth. Remember in the olden times, there was only 2 tv channels that broadcast for like 6-8hrs a day and 4 radio stations (a station for each major language). Most people don't have much to entertain themselves with, so eating melon seeds kills time plus its inexpensive.

    I get that but if that was the case there'd be like nothing to be under Singapore's name.
    If the recipe was brought over from the original country and in Singapore so long, it would have changed bit by bit. I'd like to call what is in Singapore here and now Singaporean food, unless it's those shops that are like "Imported from [insert country here]"

    Satay is not from Singapore... Duhhh... Satay marinated with spices and herbs, served with peanut gravy, that's Malaysian satay.
    Indonesian satay like satay padang is different. The meat is not marinated and the gravy is so delicious and spicy. Its not peanut gravy.
    Singapore claims they own satay, that's absurd.
