When my son started crawling around I covered all the lower part of our IKEA's BILLY bookcase glass doors with thin sheets of plywood. In this way I avoided any dangerous shattering in case of bumps or intensive play sessions with wood bricks.

I simply dont use the outlet covers bc they made both of my kids want to pick at them. Their little finger nails pulled them right out the outlet!! Once i took them off they left them alone. Thanks for the great list!!!!! Great video 😊

I've found that by either finding the colony OR simply the entry point into the house, and place a small amount of dry grits directly in their path. The worker ants find the grits, take them back to the colony for the queen ant to eat, until she gets full. Once full, she'll get thirsty and drink water, which will make the grits expand inside of her, causing her to explode. Without the queen, the ants will abandon the colony and move elsewhere. Very cheap fix as grits are about $2 for a five pound bag and quite tasty with breakfast, shrimp and cheese.

Also remember straps for cupboards to anchor them to the wall. That's a good list.

We need this…we have ants pop up and don’t know where they are coming from. My cats always find them and watch them walk around lol but I don’t like seeing them near my cat’s water bowl…I already clean it before I leave the house. But I will try the out door defense and see if hat works.

It's amazing how something that can't even walk yet is the fastest thing known to man, second only to light itself, and even then which comes first is still hotly debated

DIY idea: making a gate or barrier that will keep your child with you when you're working out in the garage. I want to turn our garage into a crafting area but it's sooo stuffy and hot. If I could find a DIY on what kinds of barriers I could make at home to keep my 2 and 3 year old within the garage with me and be able to work on painting activities with them (instead of stopping every few minutes to grab them away from the open garage door)WHILE being able to have my garage door open at the same time that would be great. I have tried using the play yard but alas... They're agile and can climb it without a problem. Any suggestions or ideas from other commenters greatly appreciated!

Remember to shorten blind pulls so babies don't get tangled in them and hang themselves.

Which ones exactly? The outlet plugs? Peel and stick cabinet latches? I'd say most of these are about as DIY friendly as it gets.

I agree.. none of this is DIY. Everything mentioned is ready made to install. Except for the strips.
