    I have a pair of TCX Hero boots and I love them, the Blends should perform similarly except without the zip. I've run them through incredibly heavy rain (like, huge torrential thunderstorm with tornadoes nearby with trees falling on the road sorta rain we get here in Ontario, Canada) and the only thing I will say is like all other waterproof boots, if you're in heavy rain and not wearing waterproof pants, rain's gonna flow down your legs and waterlog them.
    So get a waterproof pant layer too, if waterproofing is important to you.

    I have the x-blend v1 and the Merlin bandit. Both are great. Bandit is more rugged - d30 in the ankle is unobtrusive - I wear them even as normal boots. Wearing them right now!

    I didn't want boots that were too chunky so went for the Alpinestar J-6's. Cracking boots, bit tight to start with but now I've spent some time in them they are really comfortable. I only ride vintage scooters so don't need mega chunky boots but wanted something that would offer me a level of protection.

    I had the earlier RevIt Rodeo boot. I loved the style but will never buy a RevIt boot again due to faux heel inserts and a glued on sole rather than welt so they couldn’t be resoled. For the price that seemed ridiculous. I’ll buy something with a welt sole next time. Lesson learned.

    The TCX Blends (1 and 2) always felt a bit off to me, they don't seem like real leather somehow? The Merlins actually come off better in this video but I haven't actually handled them to verify this!

    I don't like laced boots if the laces are not covered. Stopped at traffic lights went to put my feet down and one lace hooked onto the gear lever nearly ended up on the road.

    Tried the Blend 2's... ended up returning them. They're nice overall but my biggest issue with some of these boots is they are not flexible enough around the ankle for me. It makes it very difficult to pull the shift lever upwards when going through the gears. Also the toe area is so devoid of feeling, I can hardly tell if I'm making contact with the gear level or not.

    • @LifestylerAUT
      @LifestylerAUT Před 2 lety +3

      "not flexible enough around the ankle" Are they not AIMING exactly to archive that?!? No flexibility no broken ankles. ANYWAY maybe you ll try to check out the TCX Dartwood GTX, extremely comfortable shoes, even for walking :)

    I wish I could still buy the x-blend, look way nicer than the blend 2; I have the TCX Fuel, and although nice, they’re a bit too big and bulky for my levers and can occasionally get my foot stuck under the gear lever (but I am still a noob 😂)

    • @chorseundgrd
      @chorseundgrd Před rokem +1

      You can adjust your gear lever up and down. Most bikes it just requires loosening a nut on the shifter and twisting the shaft (ha).

    Are these that much different from a good pair of sturdy leather work boots like Blundstones or Rock Roosters?
    I find those work boots to be supremely comfortable, great for touring when you need to walk around for hours in between rides.
    Cheaper too.

    • @chorseundgrd
      @chorseundgrd Před rokem

      The ankle and toe armor is the biggest difference. The moto boots might have stiffer soles too, even tho some work boots do have really stiff soles.

      The main thing you want if you are going for a construction boot/safety boot is one that has a stiff shank.
      The sole should not flex or twist too much.

      I’m hunting for a pair of boots that are going to hold up for a long time and break in before falling apart. $200 would be a bargain. I’m a poor person so every so often I will buy something expensive that I expect to last a really long time. And you have to spend some money for things like that.

      It is actually affordable compared to the rest, but hear me out brother I just looked at amzn and there are quite a few from 80 to a 100£ range which is quite decent, I think they were Richa, RST, but if you get an Alpinestar that will be above that price.
