Definitely one of the vids to add for Meshilicious custom loop references. You made it look easy and the case definitely helps towards building to that goal. But your attention to detail also helps future builders/modders make those personal choices to optimize for their needs. Especially on the radiator side of things.
I'm so happy I found this video! I am two months into my Ghost S1 build with basically the same components. I got a 3090ti and am currently waiting on the 7950x3d preorder, if it sells for above Msrp I will just go with the 7950X. I tried to use all EK fittings and the quality on them as second to non, I did have to use some bitspower fittings for impossible joints . I would suggest looking at getting the, Modultra LOBO DDC CPU Pump Block they make it in brass and acetal. The water block (with pump) has a maximum height of 45mm and has an adjustable cold plate which allows you to adjust the concavity. I only have a 240mm radiator but it is raw copper with above average FPI and 6 double pass copper tubes. Every major radiator on the market uses three copper pipes out to a manifold and thee return. I am hoping that this in combination with industrial Noctua fans will be enough. I also got Go Chiller coolant to help squeeze every bit of cooling out of the system. I also have had to 3D print quite a few parts which has allowed me to fit a 50x150mm reservoir, fan controller, (4) 30mm fans, and a cable shroud/gpu support. I have been putting off making custom cables, waterjet cutting a new high flow grill and mount plate. It is so nice having reassurance that my system might be possible.

An alternative to the Barrow pump/block/res is the Alphacool Eisbaer Solo LT which is similar, but much lower profile, and without a translucent version. The advantages it has is that it can be oriented in any direction on an AM4 socket, whereas the Barrow has an issue that the ports cannot cover the screw mounts for the block. It also has superior mounting hardware. The disadvantage is that it uses the Alphacool DC-LT pump which is far weaker, and likely more like an AIO pump. I replaced the 6-32 mounting bolts on the Barrow block with slightly shorter shoulder bolts with wider screw heads. As an alternative to the Koolance low-profile 90 degree fittings, EK has the Torque Micro in black (SKU 3831109849682), low profile fittings with an Allen key/hex head. As someone who has been WC PCs since mid 2013, I have to say this is an excellent first build, and you've done an excellent job explaining the decisions and challenges of building a small water cooled, ITX PCs.

10/10 this would heatsoak under 5 mins without undervolting. I have exact blocks and pump with SE280 and had to add another SE240 for cpu and gpu to reach max frequencies with PBO and 2100 Auto OC on GPU.
I have this case with same pump/block/res, I found it easier to fill by getting a radiator that had an extra port on the other end. I used extenders on the extra port to fill it and slow bleeding air bubbles out.

I've watched these two Meshlicious vids of yours more times than I can count. They really are fantastic! I'm about to build one myself in the Meshroom, because it is about damn time I go WC. I'm running 3 rads, 2x 360's and a 280. With my 12900k overclocked to 51./4.0 and 3090 at 120/460 I am getting gaming temps of 61 GPU and 12900k at 70-86 playing PUBG on 144hz. Unless you're playing on 60hz, those temps you have mentioned are impossible at 27C room temp. Love the design and build by the way
Really really good video, the camera work and detailed explenations. Also had same issues filling up that Barrow block, res, pump combo :S Even that "genious" idea to add see through hose to inlet port when filling up :D Great minds think alike! 😂
Right off the bat I see you went with Innovatek Protect, one of the absolute best coolants. You can run aluminum with copper even when using that stuff, I did it for 5yrs and not a speck of corrosion. Best coolant I ever used, it's just hard to get in the US.
For me the solution to this filling problem is a compression fitting with a 30cm piece of clear tube. Don't know why it didn't work for you. For me it was fine. Need to turn the pump on and it forces fluid around and air back out of the tube. You need to lay the pc down so the mobo is facing up. Probably why it didn't work for you.
I cooled a ryzen 1700 and 1080 ti on a 240mm radiator. no issues. 280 mm will be fine. but your cpu is high power. you may have to lower its power draw. but i think 280 is fine.
At 8:40 you mention that 2 holes share the same chamber and that you can disregard the designated inlet and outlet markings. However that is incorrect, water blocks have an inlet and an outlet that are designed to channel water in a specific way and pushing water through it backwards can effect thermals.
Love the build! Just had a few questions so hopefully you see this! I have a 3090 TUF as well and will be getting the same block as you're using. - How much space (in width) do you have if you don't run the tubing like you did? - I am looking at the FLT120 to mount infront/top of the GPU and mount it to those 3 PCI slots at the top; Do you see that as something possible with this GPU/Block? - How wide is the card with the block on? is it still 1 slot? or does it creep into 1.5-2slot width Thanks and beautiful build, really a huge inspiration for me going to do mine
Hi, really like the build. I think i've watched this video together with the build one for at least 5 times over the last 4 months, and really love it. I found it because i searched for Meshlicious high end builds and i definitely wasn't disappointed. I want to make a 7800X, 7900XT build in the Meshroom S case, and i've heard the same as you did, that this wouldn't work because 1x 280 radiator just isn't enough. So that's why i want to use the Meshroom S which comes with a bracket for another radiator in the GPU side, which should fit from my research. But another thing that i keep hearing is, that it would be a problem over time for some reason, and i wouldn't be happy with it over the long term. So, now that the video is 2 days away from being 1 year old i wanted to ask how it is holding up? As far as i can see you never made an update video, so i guess everything went well. Hope you enjoy it and it didn't get hairy after a few months of use. Thanks again for both of these great videos, that kept my motivation for doing such a build too up over the last few months.
Beautiful video! Do you know you can delete the molex completely by wiring everything through the fan connector of the pump? I did it and it works great, just check your motherboard manual for the maximum wattage of the fan port you plug in, if it's more than 17W you're fine! Cheers!

13:43 You actually shouldn't pump it into the green because that's way more pressure than your loop will ever experience and it could damage parts or move o-rings out of position. rtfm
Really cool build, RBG is way overrated. My first custom loop was a hardline build in a Phanteks evolv shift. 2x120mm EK radiators and custom grill to the front panel. Really fun and big learning curve.

It depend room temperature, and air condition, 22С and air condition on its OK, if in room 25-26 and air condition off, you need addition 2 fan on rad, double side. i say it, because for me target water temp 40C, 47 is to math for water
Witzig, dass ich das Video jetzt angezeigt bekomme, kurz nachdem ich meinen eigenen Meshlicious Custom Loop fertiggestellt habe. Bei mir laufen momentan ein 12700KF und eine Fury X (ich warte noch auf preislich bessere Tage) mit GTS 280 Radiator von HardwareLabs, Velocity² Plexi CPU Block + EK Plexi Block für die Fury X sowie D5 Pumpe und EK Res X3 110. Für die Pumpe habe ich ein custom bracket designed und 3D drucken lassen. Obwohl ich mich vorher extensiv informiert habe war der Build selber eine ziemlich Herausforderung und ich musste mein Design mehrmals während des Bauvorgangs ändern damit alles passt. Dadurch, dass die Pumpe über der Grafikkarte hängt brauchte ich zum Beispiel zwei Fill Ports: Einen direkt bei der Pumpe und einen am Reservoir neben dem Netzteil. Außerdem läuft momentan der Radiator nur mit einem Lüfter weil der zweite unglücklicherweise DoA war und ich auf einen Ersatz warte. Insofern fühle ich den Schmerz den du sicher auch bei deinem Build hattest :D Zusätzlich plane ich gerade tatsächlich noch einen XSPC TX120 Slim Radiator vor die GPU zu hängen um die Temperaturen der Kühlflüssigkeit etwas weiter runterzubekommen. Die GPU-Seite ist nämlich im Vier-Slot-Modus und hat Platz übrig den ich unbedingt nutzen möchte. Alles in allem ein ziemlich aufwendiges und teures Abenteuer, was mich aber auch einiges gelehrt hat. Quasi ein Mini-Ingenieursprojekt.

Thank you for the numbers. I've been having this debate where I want to stick the Ekwb Evolv X quantum reflection pump and res combo inside the case. The only problem is that it eliminates front radiator support and it limits my top 360 radiator mounting. Or I can stick a 280 rad on top and run both my gpu and cpu from it. That fits just fine but I was worried about temps. I was also looking at the exact same radiator you put in. Pretty much everything is the same except for the Barrow pump.
Very welcome! 🙂 If I can recommend one thing, don't get the acrylic Barrow pump in case you were thinking about it. I had people notifying me about quality and tightening issues with that one.
I am staggered at your temps. With my 3080ti and 5900x with two tx240s I struggle to get sub 70 for the gpu and sub 80 for the cpu on eco mode. Not sure what's happening.
Have you tried undervolting? You have to try how low you can go but it shaves up a couple of degrees on my end. I used the guide from Optimum Tech: czcams.com/video/zUkPAVcb9Xc/video.html
@@CheeseTurbulence hi. I have yes. I found out I was being too Conservative with my fan speeds. This annoyed me so I have ordered a 40mm ek bottom rad and will mount 25mm fans under the case with raised feet. That should do the trick. Thanks :)
You mentioned that you are planing to use one of the active backplates for the 3090. I've been looking into moving my current system into the Meshlicious, but since I already have an active waterblock for my 3090 strix I've been worried about the clearance issues that the added thicknes of the block to the card would add. Do you happen have insights into this clearance issue?
Would you say cooling of this caliber is required to get a sandwich-style case to tolerate the weird cooling form of a founders edition card? I didn't do that research before camping out overnight at best buy this week and now I have a FE 3070 ti I'm no longer certain will play nice with the ssupd case.
I think you "should" be fine, at least according to Optimum Techs video where he tested it with a 3080 FE: czcams.com/video/EUSDCyqv8OQ/video.html (share is at timecode: 3:39). He did move it to the 4 slot config for more airflow on the GPU side tho, depending on your CPU cooling this might or might not be possible.
I’ve seen quite a few independent reports of the best configuration being a push configuration, expelling hot air outside of the case via the front and cool air being pulled in from the mesh sides/top.
@@TheMolok80 In saying that there are quite a few factors which may affect outcomes for some people. I’d suggest trying it a couple of ways personally.

I have 3900x undervolted (3800mhz max/manual) and i get 42c on idle with kraken x63/noctua nf-a12x25 fans on 50% 1160 RPM (exhaust) and evga 3080 about 38c. Is there some trick to lover that CPU temps down without sounding like airplane? Tnx.

I'm only doing CPU cooling and would love to know where you think I might be able to fit something like that? Does it need to be at the highest point of the loop? I'm looking into the Alphacool Eisstation 40 Res / Pump Combo which would free me up to use a different cpu block but was originally set on the barrow pump combo. Any thoughts?
@@oopsie2827 Hmm, if you're just cooling the CPU I'm assuming that the GPU air cooler is taking up all the space, right? Because that would otherwise be the most spacious area. Thank you! 🙇 Regarding your question, maybe, but unfortunately Barrow doesn't have it on their website anymore so I don't know how tall the OLED version is. But there really is only a fraction of space left (around 5mm I would say) between the top of the regular Barrow and the side panel.
@@CheeseTurbulence I believe the fill ports are the same just the height of the block has increased to 73.5mm (watercoolingUK has it in stock and more info). So if the block is 73.5mm and the fill ports are the same position, it should mean that with low profile fittings (although zero are to be found these days) - then it should work :shrug: Also am considering the 3080ti FTW for about 350£ extra ontop of the 3080 10/12gb - did you ever consider it?
@@qalih Never considered the 3080ti FTW, I had the 3090 in my old case (Evolve Shift Air) where it got too hot, which is why I started to look for a new case. For the low profile fittings, have you tried to get them from Koolance themselves: koolance.com/fitting-single-black-swiveling-elbow-low-profile ? The shipping to Europe is ridiculous though, I used a forwarding address which was way less but sadly not very economical.
I had the translucent barrow block and it got an air bubble so trapped in there it killed the pump. And the springs kept popping over the bolts. Not a fan of the product honestly.
You're not the first who mentions this regarding the translucent version of the barrow pump. I think those are a bit dodgy, I'm not sure about the black one I have. Have yet to hear from anybody who picked it and had no issues. I hope it didn't permanently damage any of your components 😔

For Meshlicious cases, an alternative I found (As my 3080ti ftw3 is MASSIVE and I can't fit a traditional res or pump inside of the case) was to mount the ddc pump/res from EK to the back of the case. It's not the most secure, but with enough elbow grease it works. I'm hoping to go external with my radiator and pump soon.. Any chance you could look into that? I'd love to especially see how people power their pumps and fans!
Your temps are very different to your prvious video. When will they be correct? You are obviously reading something wrong. Maybe because you're new? 46deg water temp does not yield 60deg CPU\GPU temps. You should also show wattage for both CPU and GPU as well. I have a feeling they are serverly underpowered and not running as they should
It's not completely silent, you can make it out even on the lowest setting but for me and my ears I have to "listen" for it to notice it, hope this helps.

I have a 5900x and a RX 6800 with a single 280 radiator. Temps are no where nears yours! Great job dude! Maybe I'll upgrade my fans to the Noctuas!

Yes that's true, the GPU side is in the 3 slot config. With the Barrow block and the Koolance 90° fittings you have just enough space for it 🙂

And on top of that the worst performing slim rad which is the ek se and claiming 1000rpm lmao maybe with the 2100rpm hwinfo reported on cpu fan
Flow indicator, will help, alpha cool flow indicator will do the job. And it will catch air and from their release the air.

Holy shit! Water cooling is really the future. You have a RTX 3090 and 5950x running below 70 degrees in a small case.
I'm really surprised a 280 radiator with a smaller integrated barrow pump managed to cool 5950+3090. It was an eye-opener 👍

So that's why i want to use the Meshroom S which comes with a bracket for another radiator in the GPU side, which should fit from my research.
But another thing that i keep hearing is, that it would be a problem over time for some reason, and i wouldn't be happy with it over the long term. So, now that the video is 2 days away from being 1 year old i wanted to ask how it is holding up? As far as i can see you never made an update video, so i guess everything went well. Hope you enjoy it and it didn't get hairy after a few months of use.

Beautiful video! Do you know you can delete the molex completely by wiring everything through the fan connector of the pump? I did it and it works great, just check your motherboard manual for the maximum wattage of the fan port you plug in, if it's more than 17W you're fine! Cheers!

Really cool build, RBG is way overrated. My first custom loop was a hardline build in a Phanteks evolv shift. 2x120mm EK radiators and custom grill to the front panel. Really fun and big learning curve.

It depend room temperature, and air condition, 22С and air condition on its OK, if in room 25-26 and air condition off, you need addition 2 fan on rad, double side. i say it, because for me target water temp 40C, 47 is to math for water
Witzig, dass ich das Video jetzt angezeigt bekomme, kurz nachdem ich meinen eigenen Meshlicious Custom Loop fertiggestellt habe. Bei mir laufen momentan ein 12700KF und eine Fury X (ich warte noch auf preislich bessere Tage) mit GTS 280 Radiator von HardwareLabs, Velocity² Plexi CPU Block + EK Plexi Block für die Fury X sowie D5 Pumpe und EK Res X3 110. Für die Pumpe habe ich ein custom bracket designed und 3D drucken lassen.
Obwohl ich mich vorher extensiv informiert habe war der Build selber eine ziemlich Herausforderung und ich musste mein Design mehrmals während des Bauvorgangs ändern damit alles passt. Dadurch, dass die Pumpe über der Grafikkarte hängt brauchte ich zum Beispiel zwei Fill Ports: Einen direkt bei der Pumpe und einen am Reservoir neben dem Netzteil. Außerdem läuft momentan der Radiator nur mit einem Lüfter weil der zweite unglücklicherweise DoA war und ich auf einen Ersatz warte. Insofern fühle ich den Schmerz den du sicher auch bei deinem Build hattest :D
Zusätzlich plane ich gerade tatsächlich noch einen XSPC TX120 Slim Radiator vor die GPU zu hängen um die Temperaturen der Kühlflüssigkeit etwas weiter runterzubekommen. Die GPU-Seite ist nämlich im Vier-Slot-Modus und hat Platz übrig den ich unbedingt nutzen möchte.
Alles in allem ein ziemlich aufwendiges und teures Abenteuer, was mich aber auch einiges gelehrt hat. Quasi ein Mini-Ingenieursprojekt.

I think 60 celsius for GPU is kinda high for watercooled GPU? my 3090 peaks at 45c, never go pass that. GPU is Aorus Waterforce 3090
Thank you for the numbers. I've been having this debate where I want to stick the Ekwb Evolv X quantum reflection pump and res combo inside the case. The only problem is that it eliminates front radiator support and it limits my top 360 radiator mounting. Or I can stick a 280 rad on top and run both my gpu and cpu from it. That fits just fine but I was worried about temps. I was also looking at the exact same radiator you put in. Pretty much everything is the same except for the Barrow pump.
Very welcome! 🙂 If I can recommend one thing, don't get the acrylic Barrow pump in case you were thinking about it. I had people notifying me about quality and tightening issues with that one.
I am staggered at your temps. With my 3080ti and 5900x with two tx240s I struggle to get sub 70 for the gpu and sub 80 for the cpu on eco mode. Not sure what's happening.
Have you tried undervolting? You have to try how low you can go but it shaves up a couple of degrees on my end. I used the guide from Optimum Tech: czcams.com/video/zUkPAVcb9Xc/video.html

You mentioned that you are planing to use one of the active backplates for the 3090. I've been looking into moving my current system into the Meshlicious, but since I already have an active waterblock for my 3090 strix I've been worried about the clearance issues that the added thicknes of the block to the card would add. Do you happen have insights into this clearance issue?
In plumbing you want to avoid 90deg bends and go for flexible bend. 90deg bend restrict flow. That same principle should apply here as well.
I'm desperate to get my 3090 underwater, including the backplate, but it's just so expensive. Or I need to find some form of active backplate cooler
Would you say cooling of this caliber is required to get a sandwich-style case to tolerate the weird cooling form of a founders edition card? I didn't do that research before camping out overnight at best buy this week and now I have a FE 3070 ti I'm no longer certain will play nice with the ssupd case.
I think you "should" be fine, at least according to Optimum Techs video where he tested it with a 3080 FE: czcams.com/video/EUSDCyqv8OQ/video.html (share is at timecode: 3:39).
He did move it to the 4 slot config for more airflow on the GPU side tho, depending on your CPU cooling this might or might not be possible.

Hello, did you try another fan setup like fans pushing or pulling out through the rad?
I’ve seen quite a few independent reports of the best configuration being a push configuration, expelling hot air outside of the case via the front and cool air being pulled in from the mesh sides/top.

I have 3900x undervolted (3800mhz max/manual) and i get 42c on idle with kraken x63/noctua nf-a12x25 fans on 50% 1160 RPM (exhaust) and evga 3080 about 38c. Is there some trick to lover that CPU temps down without sounding like airplane? Tnx.

Regarding your question, maybe, but unfortunately Barrow doesn't have it on their website anymore so I don't know how tall the OLED version is.
But there really is only a fraction of space left (around 5mm I would say) between the top of the regular Barrow and the side panel.
@@CheeseTurbulence I believe the fill ports are the same just the height of the block has increased to 73.5mm (watercoolingUK has it in stock and more info). So if the block is 73.5mm and the fill ports are the same position, it should mean that with low profile fittings (although zero are to be found these days) - then it should work :shrug:
Also am considering the 3080ti FTW for about 350£ extra ontop of the 3080 10/12gb - did you ever consider it?
@@qalih Never considered the 3080ti FTW, I had the 3090 in my old case (Evolve Shift Air) where it got too hot, which is why I started to look for a new case.
For the low profile fittings, have you tried to get them from Koolance themselves: koolance.com/fitting-single-black-swiveling-elbow-low-profile ?

I had the translucent barrow block and it got an air bubble so trapped in there it killed the pump. And the springs kept popping over the bolts. Not a fan of the product honestly.
You're not the first who mentions this regarding the translucent version of the barrow pump. I think those are a bit dodgy, I'm not sure about the black one I have. Have yet to hear from anybody who picked it and had no issues.

For Meshlicious cases, an alternative I found (As my 3080ti ftw3 is MASSIVE and I can't fit a traditional res or pump inside of the case) was to mount the ddc pump/res from EK to the back of the case. It's not the most secure, but with enough elbow grease it works. I'm hoping to go external with my radiator and pump soon.. Any chance you could look into that? I'd love to especially see how people power their pumps and fans!
for just gaming that processor is a waste & if you load it up properly alongside the gpu it will probably run too hot.
Your temps are very different to your prvious video. When will they be correct? You are obviously reading something wrong. Maybe because you're new? 46deg water temp does not yield 60deg CPU\GPU temps. You should also show wattage for both CPU and GPU as well. I have a feeling they are serverly underpowered and not running as they should
Does the Barrow pump block limit the RAM height?
Not at all, I don't think taller RAM would be a problem, you will hit the ceiling of the case at some point though.

It's not completely silent, you can make it out even on the lowest setting but for me and my ears I have to "listen" for it to notice it, hope this helps.
question what fans did u use?
I got the Noctua NF-A14 iPPC-3000 PWM, but they are overkill the regular ones will do just fine. You wouldn't want to run these at 3000rpm anyway.
What size EK tubing did you use?
I used EK-Tube ZMT 16/11 mm, hope that helps. Sometimes the measurements depend a little bit on the shop, like here on newegg: www.newegg.com/p/37B-000B-003D1?item=9SIAD2TBZW4552 (but I think this is the same)
