BRAND NEW VIDEO! 20 MORE TIPS: czcams.com/video/4C2f_plOdOE/video.html
Timestamps in the description, hope you enjoy :D
Sorry for the delay in this video. Busy week and weekend, accompanied with some technical difficulties and unsure-ness of what new video to make. (if you have any ideas related to Warband/Bannerlord, let me know)
what is the best place to start your own kingdom timby ?
it really depends as every game is different, however I generally find attacking a Sarranid castle is usually the easiest. But it's apples and apples because it depends on what units you currently have and what you want to go for in the long run. But in general I take a Sarranid castle, but may take whatever I can find that is easy to take. When starting a kingdom just try to find an easily defendable location, both on the campaign map and in the battle screen as when you first start many factions will almost undoubtedly declare war on you.
>Jeremus knocked unconscious by Looter
Name the things that CANNOT knock Jeremus unconcious.
@@JimmyRaven grass.
Hmm....I don't know, the grass in the Kingdoms of Vaegirs and Nords looks kinda mean.
Hmm, yeah, that is some mean grass
as in weed? pretty sure it can knock him out
You shouldn't be embarrassed about not seing the "show on map button" untill 80 hours into the game. I have almost 3000 hours, and learned about it just now through this video...
Hah wow, glad I'm not the only one who didn't think it was obvious XD
I figured it out in my first hour XD
ya me too Aidan
I never realized I could do that I could hold the number keys to move the banner for movement orders, though.
Or at least, I didn't until I was 300 hours in.
I laughed at things this guy didn't know but then when i saw that there is show on map feature i wanted to cry.
Comedy Guy Your comment stands by your name. I like it
i just started to play this game i learn about it within the hour or else i would go mad from frustration looking for lords to deliver messages
What does this mean?
I spent hours looking for the locations.. I feel like a noob 😫😂
Yo for reals. I got sent to a town and I was like, "Well based on the name, it doesn't sound like a Nord town... Must be Swadian.... Wait that's not it either" lmao
A bit of trading advice:
1) Alt + LMB is useful to quickly sell a lot of loot/goods in one clicks instead of clicking and dragging.
Another useful trading tip - you can sell merchandise to all vendors (arms, horse, armor) for the same price, there is no price penalty.
2) If you happen to have more loot/goods than all money the vendors have, just wait 1 day and they all get around +500-1000 denars. Don't need to ride to another town.
3) If you see a huge amount of 1 particular product in the shop (for example, loads of iron) - always buy it first and then press the option to access the market to find out where to sell it. If you do the other way around, chances are all arriving caravans and villagers will buy out all this stock while you were waiting and the price will be high again and few products will remain.
4) Have 1-2 sumpter horses in your inventory if you are moving loads of goods around. It will spread the weigh and you'll be able to move on a world map faster instead of crawling like a turtle overloaded with merchandise. It doesn't affect your speed if you don't have goods in your inventory though.
5) When you access the local market only pay attention to the potential income starting from 80 denars/item and higher or so.
Lower than that is not even worth your troubles. Buying a bunch of high cost items with low equity could lead to zero income or even a loss.
6) If you can't sell everything at once, sell all the goods first and items last. Items don't hinder your world map speed, and goods do!
7) It's a good idea to ride solo in the beginning and moving goods from town to town saving your wealth for the future, avoiding the tough fights. That way you will fly like a wind, you won't have to worry about the hunger or wages or army losses.
Actually I was so carried away playing solo, I found myself fighting 40 forest bandits all alone and feeling confident.
Underrated comment
But... But how? Wouldnt you just get arrow spammed?
Ride a horse. The AI sucks at leading targets, so if you ride in large circles around the bandits, they rarely score a hit on you. They'll eventually run out, leaving you to pick them off.
Plus their bows usually suck, so higher tier armor shrugs off their damage entirely.
4) It's actually capped at 6 horses. Having mostly mounted units increases your overland speed as well.
Very nice advices but i don`t agree with potential income starting from 80 dennars especially at the beggining of the game where it is a good idea to start trading with ... grain which can be bought very cheap at Swadia (villages near Dhirim wants sth like 10 denars) and can be sold at price of 30 - 40 dennars which gives you income of x3-4.
And I would add tip that it is nice to give companions points in training because they do stack.
And if sieging cities/castles think about brining mainly archer/footmen force, prepare 2 row`s first footmen to make shield-wall and second with archers it can sometimes win battle even without fighting for wall.
One piece of invaluable advice is to ensure that during times of peace you gain do quests for villages. Having a high affinity with a village makes recruiting troops much easier. When having 20+ affinity there are changes you can get 10-20 troops looking to join at a single time.
735 hours never noticed show on map. Goddammit.
2,500 hours and didn't learn anything
Solanum Caput i noticed it yesterday I've been playing for years
Lol
not a truck where is it?
Another 2 things I missed during my first 100 hours:
1) Clicking Ctrl (or Shift) + LMB will assign an item from either left or right to the other side in the Trade interface. (Not too sure its ctrl or shift but it definitely works)
2) You can issue commands like 'Hold this position' from afar by holding F1 button. I used to personally travel to such location and issue the command -_-
Ahh yes I remember learning those too xD wish I included those.
something like holding ctrl while upgrading troops would also be helpfull to know for newcomers
2) lmao what?! I have easily over 100 hours into this game and I was always climbing mountains myself just to tell my archers to go there fml hahaha
me too :D
Hahahahahhaha
Almost 500 hours And there Is company option? All the time clicking And following lords for nothing?
Vilém Zahradník yeah same.

Life is harsh
I wish there was a player faction troop designer and that when you managed to found your own kingdom and have a certain amount of right to rule you will be visited by a legendary smith who will commission a special armour and weapon set of your choosing, complete with a crowned helmet.
Check out Prophecy of Pendor mod, it features something similar to what you described (Custom knight order, crowned helmet when founding a kingdom) as well as lots and lots of other amazing stuff, it's a really good mod, albeit pretty hard from the beginning
Adam Baker many mods have managing features from the diplomacy mod. They allow you have a better feel of your kingdom. Check out Perisno it’s my personal favorite mod
@@lordsothii5617 the latest Perisno 0.99 is awesome !
Something I just found after thousands of hours in this game: you can use shift + numbers to give orders to multiple groups in combat. So you can e.g. tell only your infantry and archers to advance while keeping the cavalry following you, or order infantry and cavalry to charge while archers hold position, without having to issue orders to each group individually
Omg
Tip for sieges: Do not charge in in the beginning. Position your infantry in a line outside the castle and archers right behind them and snipe all the crossbowmen/archers. Then charge infantry first and have archers follow you to a good vantage point while your infantry does the heavy fighting.
I'm 300hours into the game and didnt knew the control + space would speed up my game.. I remember clicking to a certain spot somewhere across the whole map and then getting myself food out of the kitchen, while my party's still marching xD You summed it up pretty well, I dont know what you could have done any better possibly (:
hah wow XD Thank you :D
Now that is just torture
Yupp took about 40 hours for me before I realized how to speed up travel. I’d build my army up and travel across the map meanwhile making a sandwich for the 5+ minute journey
@@PBnJTACO Facts I have almost 60 hours and thank heavens for this video man
Also you can reduce morale loss by having all your troops be from the same faction
but viraty is always better. Just dont get troops from 2 warring factions. Like nord infantry and rohdok crossbowmen.
I assume mercenaries don't affect this?
they dont
@@williamhammann3170 Pretty sure mercenaries don't have more thing altogether
Rhodoks specialise in spearmen, glaivemen and heavy crossbowmen.
Nords specialise in strong infantry with high damage short weapons.
Swadians specialise mostly in knights, but also have a good infantry.
Vaegirs have quick archers and strong infantry. Also mediocore cavalry.
Kheregits specialise in horse archers, but they also have strong lancers.
Sarranids have strong heavy and light cavalry, but are also sufficient as infantry.
Btw, today I have reached 777 hours of gameplay(this is my favorite game!)
Erlend Stang I would say Vaegirs have mediocre infantry
Sarranids have the 2nd best archer unit. their infantry is poop.
What about the Sarranid guard?
Meep Meep Any top tier unit can kill a looter. What you want is for them to reliably kill everything.
Unfortunately, friend, I have learned these tips and tricks through experience, but if I seen the video before I learned, I would have been so damn appreciative. Good job nonetheless.
Persuasion 3 is generally enough to convince all 16 companions to stay with you, despite their quarrels. I bumped it up to Persuasion 4 just for good measure. We 17 slaughter all.

Fuck the cattle man, I lost 8 early on and had to buy another 8
My tips:
If you can't defeat deserters, pay them! They only want a portion of the money you have. If you hhve little, they'll request even less.
Don't use companions as your main combat medics. Use yourself and have a backup medic at most. Companions stop being wounded at 2x as much HP as you do and whoever is wounded, deactivates his party skills till they have enough hp to become unwounded. So not only companions are more prone to getting wounded, they're wounded for longer too. Also, from some level onwards you receive bonuses to company stats that you have the highest. At 4 it's +1, 6 +2, 8 +3 and 10 +4. Very useful for the most important party skills. In fact, wound treatment, first aid and path-finding should be your three party skills.
I don't recommend you to spend points on surgery though. It may sound nice that your soldiers get wounded instead of dying, but too high surgery means you're going to have a lot of wounded soldiers. The problem with wounded soldiers is, they take a long time before they're usable again. Until then they waste a slot in your army. Nobody is going to be afraid of an army of 160, of which only 30 are combat capable. Not to mention, they'll still slow you down and eat your food just as if they were well. So it's much better for them to die. Nobody is going to be afraid of an army of 30 either, but this army of 30 can at least have more speed to run away from enemy campaign.
Tactics are terrible for the player. Even with 10 tactics you're going to suffer ridiculous casualties if you order your troops to attack without you.
Get a long weapon asap. Preferably lance. Even a bad lance is better than an one-handed sword.
Don't start as Rhodoks. They're the most difficult nation to play offensively. You need to master combat in various terrains and especially difficult terrain before you can use Rhodoks well. Don't start as Khergits or Sarranids either - the bandits have horses and even a lance. With flat terrain that's a bad combination. Swadians are a good choice, although Vaegirs are the easiest starter nation:
1. They have Rivacheg. Dyeworks in Rivacheg produce 1000 denars a week, profits no other enterprise can match. 10 grand aren't the easiest to gather, but once you buy the dyeworks, it makes money management much easier.
2. Their troops are easy to train. With training skill 5 you can promote all vaegir recruits after midnight. This makes training vaegir knights so easy they're pretty much disposable, although disposing of them is harder than it looks as they're quite strong too. The only other race that has this are Khergits and khergit lancers are so easy to train it's ridiculous. Swadia has powerful knights, but not only they are rather expensive, they're also difficult to train.
3. They have easy access to sea raiders, the best bandits for training units and for farming cash (as well as the most accessible way of getting a decent beginning armor). They take some practice and favorable terrain to defeat, but in flat terrain and with a lance they soon become a joke. Just make sure to keep your distance in youe initial combats with them, they have bows and throwing arrows. Keep your distance and circle around them to make them deplete their ammo.
Do not underestimate board shields and shields on back. My first successful run's inventory consisted of morningstar, great lance, board shield and huscarl shield. You can't use board shield from horseback, but it will still keep you safe from archery fire into your back. And if you have it above your smaller shield, the board shield gets picked when on foot, the small shield gets picked on horseback. No need to switch the shields in combat.
Troops get chosen into battle from top to bottom. If you need to train or get rid of troops (Hello, sword sisters in army of Nords), put them at the top. If you need to conserve a companion's health, put them to the bottom.
Leadership helps a lot with morale, I recommend getting it to 3 asap.
Have a couple of villages that are happy with you. The happier they are, the better troops you can recruit.
Do NOT become a marshal! Marshal gains controversy everytime the kingdom loses. If you reach enough controversy, nobody is going to grant you a fief even if you have enough renown. Also, you're going to have to defend every castle you conquer, because nobody is going to do that... and the enemy will gladly lay siege to it. It's much better to pick a vassal or two and conquer a castle together. You'll still have to defend it, but you won't gain any controversy if you lose it. Or if your villages get looted, because nobody is defending your homelands (which happens quite easily, when everyone is your friend due to you having 90 honor).
Reading this 3 years later is great, thanks bro
I’ve been playing for a little while. I love the game but find myself constantly restarting. These tips proved so helpful! Thanks man :)
Also dont start a faction if you dont have enough right to rule, as everyone will declare war on you
Right To Rule actually doesn't affect how many people declare war on you.
if you have very little right to rule, factions will declare war on you very early on. i've tried it and nearly all factions declared war on me stimultaniously
Actually it doesn't affect it. It's a common mistake that people think it does affect it, but it actually doesn't.
"Note that Right to Rule has no impact on whether or not other factions declare war on you in Warband. It is a common mistaken belief that it does. However the internal script that decides to declare war does not check this variable."
Not Important How, whenever they attack my castle, they have shield or swords to block my attack or their archers kill me
If you don't have enough right to rule they consider you a rebel not a kingdom and they will attack you, so I don't know where did you get that Hej Hej
My first village has an 88 loyalty to me. I've hired 40 tribesmen at once, and another time I got 20 rhodok crossbowman at 10 denars each. So get your village loyalty up ASAP
Ben The Ghost Writer yeah it’s awesome to have high relationship with villages but it’s annoying as shot to raise them that high
lol wtf, i have a village at 41 loyalty and honestly they barely give me anything (then again i check like less than once per month).
My 99 villages usually give me middle fingers regardless
How to increase loyalty?
Wait is this for real? What in the damn hell??
When I discovered the Backspace key in this game I went from Scrubbicus McMassacre to Alexander and Hannibal's lovechild.
Holy crap that changed everything.
I have something like 300 hours in this game. This video taught me about both the Accompany option and the Show on Map button. Thanks for helping me not be so stupid.
Fief is pronounced “feef”.
Trololol, it really isn't
Joshua Wakeley I bet you never read a dictionary in your life. Get one, and probably learn to read International Phonetic Alphabet before you look up the word.
@@joshuawakeley217 It really is, Josh. It's a medieval French word brought over to England by the Normans after 1066 a.d. 'To pay a fee' is an abbreviation in modern usage, and we don't say to pay a fye, or fie, do we? Fife is a county in Scotland, also called Fifeshire, pronounced Fifesher.
I think us Brits have half a clue about how to say our own words. Just like Leicester is 'Lester' and Worcester is 'Wooster'. The problem is that the US uses phonetic spelling, which is why they always fuck up Shakespeare and old English so badly in general, they pronounce words as they're spelled, not said. It's only a matter of time until the US spells 'mother tongue' 'mutha tung'.
In classic pronunciations yes, the same way 'pristine' is pronounced like 'wine', but language changes and for hundreds of years in England it has been pronounced 'fife', probably by popular misinformation.
@@felisasininus1784 You're right I have never read a dictionary, I had a friend who did from cover to cover he was kind of weird though...
This is really great for beginners. I also have a couple hundred hours on M&B and yet I still found this very helpful, Great video.
thank you :D
The same thing happened to me with the "show on map" option. Than you, Timby, many of your tips have been useful to me!
Here's another tip that might help in the long run:
When you get mounts that you don't use, don't sell them. Keep up to 6 in your inventory.
This increases your speed on the map slightly.
I'm about 70 hours into the the game and should I give some armour and weapons to my companions or sell them if they are valuable
@@jaydenraleigh9347 I always make sure my companions have the next best gear after my own. Everything else I sell. That's usually because they all have the group skills and I don't want them to lose too much health. I think there's a percentage where you stop receiving the group skill benefits

I died so many times and suffered humiliating defeats to mud covered troglodytes, but this game teaches that total failure is a chance for a new beginning.
Thanks for the video. The 'show on map' and 'right click to accompany' features were missed/unknown by me and will now be very useful (I've played about 200 hours).
Thank you so much for this video, it really helped a lot. I had been getting pretty frustrated before when I accepted a quest and then realized I had to go to a place on the opposite side of the map to complete which takes a very long time. The speeding up time function will definitely come in handy.
I think most of these are true for Native.
If you do quests for villages, especially the "Train peasants" one, they will provide better soldiers when recruiting volunteers. This is very useful later on, if your army gets destroyed - you can recruit decent units to start off again, instead of going through peasants.
If you ever want to play multiplayer, set the blocking settings to "Mouse movement". Nearly all multiplayer servers for all mods use this kind of blocking, referred to as "manual blocking." Plus, it's far more satisfying.
Arguably, the three most important kinds of companions you need in Native (the base game) are the medic (to prevent high unit losses in battles), the trainer (to train units faster in order to avoid leading peasants and militias in the first battles), and the engineer (to make sieges much faster, because they often take too long otherwise). These are respectively Jeremus, Firentis and Artimenner.
Mercenaries recruitable from taverns may seem to be a very good investment at first, due to the fact that they instantly come with decent equipment and training. However, don't be fooled. They are far more expensive to maintain than regular units of the same level and often perform worse than comparable faction units.
Only major problem here is Jeremiah and artimenner hate each other, so it may be wise to recruit a different companion and train them up to be a engineer.
Well spoken and concise; very helpful video. I've been chugging along on console and just got my first castle(Jelbegi), I'm ~120 hours in and I'm starting to get a little overwhelmed. As a newbie I have a question for veterans. Isn't it more indicated to play until you can conquer a weaker castle and only after that to swear allegiance to a king?
You know, to have a castle to store prisioners and stuff while serving that king....
Focus should be on spotting and tracking while building a charecter. It helps you spot bandits and lords from afar and choose your battles.

Thank you! And currently I don't play any multiplayer M&B, as my internet is currently crap. I'll be getting an upgrade by July and will be playing on various servers for sure :)
Ah , great :) hope to test your martial skills someday.
The ending was so wholesome
This was very helpful, thank you so much Timby!!
Fief is pronounced "Feef" but good video non the less, +1 sub :D.
Like beef? I still prefer fIef :(
I've also seen people saying bief
Ah I get it yes it's not "Faife" as he said but I don't think it is feef either
if you say it that way it's like you're talking about Phife Dog
JonatasAdoM It is pronounced "feef". I'm a Medieval Studies major. This youtuber pronounces several words wrong on his videos.
Yes, it is pronounced "feef" @jonatas
You deserve more subs boi
THANK YOU SO MUCH LMAO I was always scrolling around the map not knowing about the show on map button
Thank you so much. I've been looking for any video that explains honer! good video!
I don't normally do this but i'm currently making a Mount & Blade Warband Native gameplay on my channel, I would be really appreciated if you check it out :)
I used to stare over my dads shoulder and watch this game so I kinda knew most of this, but it was still a really entertaining video!
This game is so good and addictive but it's sooooooo fucking hard
OG Chicago to each their own but its not really that hard. what is it you're struggling with?
@@tom02061997 It isn't hard mechanicly, but conquering all the map is a challenge, specialy cause all enemy lords go against my property like hungry hounds all the time, so laying siege is risky.
@@tom02061997 I struggle with basically existing in this game without dying
New player, accrued about 30 hours back in 2011 and I'm revisiting it now a la Diplomacy.litdum! Very enjoyable thusfar and thank you for putting these tips together, bro.
You showed the things that I didn't even knew warband had. Keep it up!
Thanks! Have you seen my newer tips video? It might have some more things you didn't know about czcams.com/video/4C2f_plOdOE/video.html
Here is a tip. If you find a Feast Stey there and fight in tournaments win Eesy money. After you have won go back to castle. Speak to lady and give the honor of the fight. What will give you friend ship whit this lady and you can keep going whit that until the Feast ends. here is the total of money what you can get until Feast ends. 24,000 or more.
yea, thats true, avoid joining faction at all, do not start as noble, just drive from town to town fighting in tournaments to gain money, i was so rich that i had 20 swadian knights before i joined faction, i didnt had to worry about money or wars because i was rich with skilled bodyguards and was a pretty good warrior
@Elie S. G. how? Please teach me how
That's dumb, just raid villages and sell whatever you can gain in the cities, you'll get rich af very quickly and grow in size with the money you make
SoleNero21 bro I play normal level and I have 7 towns 100 swadian knights, 100 swadian sergeant and 100 swadian sharpshooter in each town. 1909 renown in 1000 days is that good enough or trash?
DD 01 And your point is?
I've got over 700hours+ and only just realised there is a take me to button...
ADudeNamed Will wait what's that lol I feel like I know what it is but I don't recognize it lol plz halp

I have played this game for a while and i didn't know you could accompany lords. I also didn't know that you have the "show on map" button so, thanks :)

One time i searched one Village for half and hour and just in and out until i found the nervous Man that also took half an hour just to get my ass handed back to me by him. I immediately alt f4d
Great video man! Very helpful
Wow really did not know about accompanying, thank you very much.
Mount and blade tips and tricks
Me: huh? I'm just raising 100 swadian knights and thats just work for me
2:55 Haha, Vaegirs get lots more sea raiders than the nords do!
Very good video man, thanks for all the tips they are very useful for a begginer like me,even if i knew half the stuff already.Keep up the good work!

500 hours. Coulda done a lot more if i'd have known about ctrl space
Just subscribed
Thank you for the tips! Stay safe and God bless!
Just picked this up and am loving it. what a great game!
7:15 This is wrong. Skills in M&B are the highest in the party + your own skill. So if Jeremus has 8 trainer, and you have 1, your party gets 9 effectively.
Edit: Only trainer stacks at 100% the rate. I did not realize this and thought everything stacked perfectly, like trainer. Taking party skills on YOUR character (but not on other characters) gives the following bonuses at these levels:
1 : +0
2-4: +1
5-7: +2
8-9: +3
10: +4
I replied to your other comment about this, you're partly right and thanks for pointing that out!
You are wrong too. Skills in M&B are the highest in the party + 1/2 of your own skill. So if Firentis has 4 trade, and you have 2, your party gets 5 effectively.
@@maplesyrup8070 You are correct that I am wrong but it's not 1/2 either. I made a mistake because I was basing this on my experience with Trainer. Trainer as it turns out stacks at 100% the value, but - for some reason - it's the only skill to do so.
The actual rates for (most) party stacking bonus are worse than 1/2 and are quite arbitrary:
1 : +0
2-4: +1
5-7: +2
8-9: +3
10: +4
I didn't actually know it was that poor of a return on stacking until now, thanks for making me look it up. Correcting my post now.
7:43 Am I the only one hearing the kid screaming in the background ? X)
That's a horse maying
he is trying to get out of the basement
Great video man! loved the last part
250+ hours and i still didn't know there was a "find on map" tool. Even for people who've played a LOT these can be helpful! Thanks!
Glad to help! Isn't it crazy how that button should be so obvious, but it's not? xD
9:33 how does this dude reload so fast with the crossbow
could you make a vid about managing your kingdom?
Like preventing Lords to cause treason.
I know this video was like 5 years ago but I remember playing this game around 2019 or 2020 and I just started playing again and your tips have greatly help this returning player thanks so much I'll definitely be watching your other guide videos
