Today we do something stupid. We install a 6s power system into a XL-5 rustler. Check out our Instagram: / rc_maniacbz And If You Would Like To Support The Channel: / rc_maniac
Haha yea although I believe it would more affect the acceleration which fine cause 6s would demolish those drive shafts, I usually just tighten it all the way to the point it doesn't slip, basically just locked up
Put my old erevo 2.0 system in my slash 4x4 and on 6s it blew a tire and completely smashed into a pole at full throttle. Both batteries flew 2 houses down the street and the front half of the truck needed everything replaced. The esc didnt work and the motor can was warped but its all fine because it gave me a good laugh.
@@RCMANIAC-YT No. I was antsy to see what it would do and I just plugged in the battery and took it to the top of the street and came down full speed without thinking or prepping.
I built a 2wd slash with the same system from the E revo 2.0, upgraded everything but now I’m thinking about making it a dirt drag truck, I think it’s too fast for bashing where I’m at, I wouldn’t destroy it lol, I had to get a hot racing transmission to mount the motor, how did you get it to fit in the stock one? And how did you mount your wheelie bar?
Thing I didn’t like about building a 6s rustler was the stability with such a big motor on the back and adding weight to counter balance, then I just saw someone who’s turned the rear back to front so it’s like a mid mounted motor now that’s trick, would’ve liked to have done that instead but I’ve got a 6s 1/10 xray mid mount xt2 that handles so well it’s almost to easy.
They sell aluminum transmission cases that will fit that motor and larger gears for speed runs. Plus it dissipates the heat from motor quicker. I think FLM was the best case if I remember correctly
That's 2x the power than my 2wd VXL has and mine blows out the tires like crazy and mines only going like 60-70 mph. I can't imagine how hard it is to control that monster.
Honestly unless ur doing some extreme scientific kinda build most shocks will do fine, most of them u can put spacers inside the shock to make them shorter yo lower the car, u can also play around with different springs and see what stiffness works for u
@@RCMANIAC-YT thanks, but i was wanted some fast changes, and my shocks are in not good shape and since im gonna rebuild them, i was thinking maybe get new 4 shocks but with smaller lenght, but idk wich lenght to chooose i dont have a clue :s
I have a Rustler 2wd with a Hobbywing Max 5 and TP 4070cm 2200kv 8s motor. I had to modify the gearbox to stand up to the power, heavy duty drive shafts flatten out the top of the Chassis to widen it by putting Carbon fiber plate to fit the Max 5, reinforce about everything by buying metal upgrades. Make my own motor protecting shield with connected metal wheelie bar made from Iron plates and with Luggage wheels (one on each side of the the metal plate). It is extremely and excessively powerful and fast. I just need a place to really drive it, instead of just barely touching the controller trigger.
@@RCMANIAC-YT I had a Mamba Monster x system with a Castle 2200kv actually bought two of them and both stopped functioning within a two month period. Stopped buying Castle from that point on .Then I went to a Max 8 with Hobbywing 2250kv motor 6s. Then I bought a Max 6 and TP 4070cm 2200kv 8s motor and the spider gears kept shredding for the differential gear so put in a differential locker spool. Then got the max 5 and paired it with TP 4070cm 2200kv 8s motor had to flatten out the top of the chassis and rest a Carbon fiber plate to widen it just enough to fit the Max 5. Then my input gear and shaft kept coming out of position with the power and the spur gear and the pinion gear would no longer mesh. I had use a precision drill to drill a hole in the shaft to lock it in place to allow it to keep it's position so the spur gear and pinion gears mesh.
@@RCMANIAC-YT I've spent about $ 7k. buying all sorts of different parts for it. Buying different controllers Flysky FS-GT5, Futaba 4PV, Dumbo RC and then eventually to a Radiolink RC6GS V2 6 and settled on that because of the range and how powerful the gyro was. I bought so much different upgrades and made my own stuff to.
Thanks for the info bud. I'm building a rustler from scratch with 17mm conversion and XO-1 wheels and tires as well as all traxxas aluminum upgrades. Want to run at least 100mph so was wandering which motor/ESC combo I should run. 4s 540XL from the Hoss or the same 6s setup you have? Any help would be great. Thanks
@@RCMANIAC-YT sorry to bother but I'm not so great with gearing and never messed with the 6s traxxas combo but just ordered one for my rustler I'm scratch building. So looking to run at least 100mph maybe more if possible but what gearing should I use? Thanks for all your help so far. Ordered my Drag slash trans too and also everything lipolock sells that will weigh it down in the front.
I'm not to sure its gonna depend alot on different things such as ur motors kv rating how u want it to drive what gearing u can even fit, u may want to customize something but I'd say maybe like 18/36 but not to sure u may need to do some experimenting
Don’t forget those who have millions of bucks and design 4 castle motor speed cars usually live in Las Angeles or maimi uno where the roads are way long and fast highways are made for going fast. Do you still have this set up let’s see how fast it goes.
That would be awesome! I need to gear it up a bit and then adjust some things here and there and I'll have to put a tracker on and see what speeds I can get
I’m sorry got confused there for a second. Used to answering questions on the X-Maxx 😂. The motor fits in the stock gearbox without any mods. Just need a larger pinion to compensate the larger shaft.
I found that you have to kinda jam/wiggle it in and then it might get a bit harder at the very end and that's when I just put the screws in that hold the motor and I tightened them to pull the motor in the rest of the way
@@RCMANIAC-YT I understand they sound different. I have a Kraton that is 6s. I was just trying to say it sounds too tight. Has nothing to do with the slipper clutch.
Yeah man sorry you're right I just watched the video again and I can definitely hear right at the beginning of the video what you're talking about I didnt notice that before... It seemed to get a little better later in the video, I think I must have loosened it later on
You might want to take out the slipper clutch. At that speed, it probably robs a lot of power.
Haha yea although I believe it would more affect the acceleration which fine cause 6s would demolish those drive shafts, I usually just tighten it all the way to the point it doesn't slip, basically just locked up
great name BTW!!
@@RCMANIAC-YT 6s will destroy your slipper way before it destroys the driveshafts
He would have to change his drive shafts if he locked his diff with 6s power he just going to keep snapping shafts and yokes
I put 6s on a 2wd stampede with slipper all the way tight. Did a backflip and snapped both stock axles instantly.
AWESOMENESS!!!!! 😎
Wow dude thanks for stopping by
imagine how much faster it would go if both the front wheels were straight. align your turnbuckle friends lolol
Yeah no wonder it’s spinning out too… little more tlc
Spins out - lock rear differential

Haha yeah it's hard not to take it out and drive right away
@@RCMANIAC-YT I do have my friend as a witness though. 😂
Good, 😂
Was it easy to fit the motor or did you have to make more holes to mount it or trim or something?
OMG!! That thing is a monster!
Haha it's got some kick
New Suscriber here. Great vid!
did you have to do anything to the transmission to make the motor fit ?
I built a 2wd slash with the same system from the E revo 2.0, upgraded everything but now I’m thinking about making it a dirt drag truck, I think it’s too fast for bashing where I’m at, I wouldn’t destroy it lol, I had to get a hot racing transmission to mount the motor, how did you get it to fit in the stock one? Oh yeah mine is also setup as a monster slash
Hey can you tell me why my rustler keeps spinning out amd im only hitting like 15% throttle smh
hey i was wondering what is the shaft size for the pinion , and the size of the stainless steel plat to mount the esc
I'm not 100 percent sure but I think the shaft size is 5mm
Nice rig my friend.
What motor esc do you have in it
Love this video
Glad to hear it
What pinion did u use?
What gear pinon n spur u use on it
What pinion did u put on to fit that spur gear bro ?
Yea so it was the normal traxxas 72t spur but then I got a 36t pinion and drilled out the hole so it would fit on the bigger motor shaft!
Yea I totally know what u mean
Real Question how were you able to fit that motor in there did it go in easily or did u do some trimming?
They fit just push and twist

Its insane!!
after 70, its up to god... just hope for the best...
what shocks do you have in the back?
Just some Chinese aluminum set off Amazon but just fyi you cant get replacement parts for them so probably not worth getting
Hello, i have one rustler 2wd, and im tryng speed runs but this stock shocks lift him up. What kind of shocks should i get? Thanks

What plate did you use to mount the ESC
I cut out a piece of stainless steel and drilled it to fit
u need the HD clutch, and some 17mm hoons!
I want to get my Slash 2wd hopped up to a 6s!
What’s the intro music
How u get it to do right bc mine pulls tothe right bad fr

@@RCMANIAC-YT I have the stock 86T spur, and a hot racing 58t spur also, I have barely any room for a pinion.

What all did it take to make the motor fit
Just the WFO large motor mount. Belt or Mod 1.5 or even a 8mm pinion to make it run.

It was cranked as much as possible it just can't handle a 6s system 😂

The slipper clutch is cranked to the max, its just not meant for 6s lol
this motor is bigger than original, how did you fixed it?
If you wiggle it in and kinda force it in it will fit 👍
