3:10 i can just imagine rustler screaming "IM FREE !! AFTER MONTHS AGO IM FREEE!"
Kev. You broke it in 2 minutes. Surely thatâs a world record
I put a couple of the eco boosts in my E-REVO and I was suprised by the quality you can hear it just moving them with your hands THANKS Kev!!
Haven't seen the rustler in a while, very good video mate!!
He is so rude on one vid he flipped off people in the comments
FaZe PeNcIL which vid pls tell me also
Yeah what vid
FaZe PeNcIL ewtwriteeiqr
Thx mate
Hey kev, I bought the same rustler you have and took it to itâs first skatepark bash!! It rips even on 2s!! Such a nice car, and I can thank you for persuading me to get one. Great work!!
05:42 In Steve's head:"Could be worst, could be mine" đ€Ł
So glad that you give honest reviews!! They really didnât hold up very well!!
My son and I are thinking about getting into the rc hoby we've been watching your channel for a while and by far the best one on youtube
Hey Kev, love the content!
I think the Traxxas 4wd Slash platform is being pushed beyond its limit with the big wheels on the rustler. I have a 4wd stampede and everytime I take it for a bash sometime breaks, usually the drive shaft or hubs or links.
Smaller wheels on the slash really makes it bulletin proof
I have a 2wd Stampede that's 9 or 10 years old and I have not replaced a single part yet everything is still perfectly fine and straight. I bash it all the time. Idk what happened to yours :/
My brother has a Slash 4X4 VXL and broke a driveshaft at a track not too long ago. Itâs not the platform thatâs weak, itâs the part. Traxxas needs to improve the driveshafts.
As usual amazing and awesome vid and more coming up in the future
Low tsm is meant for high traction surfaces so it reduces your steering input to reduce rollover or sliding out while high tsm is meant for low traction surfaces like ice as an extreme example. High tsm gives you high control as you wonât likely rollover anyways. The more you know!
The driveshafts look like they are rusty
I wouldnât even used those junk
Gotta use what you got
@@charizardcollector4726 yeah and they didn't last long. hopefully he got his money back.
@@JUST_ONE_ID10T probably wouldn't be worth a return, it's from banggood so it's probably less than $3-4

Me: hhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmđ€đ€đ€đ€đ€
Love the stuff Kevin keep it up.
As a Rustler 4x4 vxl owner, I do agree that the driveshafts are weak. For instance when I was doing a sharp turn, it went up on 2 wheels and the tire must have spun so fast that the u joint on the driveshaft broke. I've also been recently having a problem with my spur gear stripping too. And I just drive it in my backyard I don't do anything crazy. I did jump it good once though and snapped the rear axle carrier. I also ran it into a trash canđ€Šââïž Great video Kev!
Lets go nice vid kev keep up love your videos keep it gowing
Love your channel keep up the good work
Happy 600k kev!
So happy to see a vid on the rustler because ive just picked up a rustler 4x4 vxl with gtr shocks all rpm arms bearing carriers and 2 3s batteries for 300$
Kevin your dedication to providing great rc content and informative videos is top notch! Thank you and your mates so very much for all the laughs and great videos! Keep it up! Cheers!
I love your videos and they inspire me to get in this hobby
Love vids keep it up đ
Great video Kev đ
5:45 Steve is "rocking"!
Love the slow motion bits.
My take from this is. Buy a rear wheel drive. So your only replacing the back axles.
Nice video Kev.
Friendly "Endscreen Reminder" đŻ
I noticed 2 screws that weren't screwed in all the way at the beginning of the video. Their near the screws that allow you to take off the front end from the chassis... At the end, the left one is missing. Just thought I'd let you know Kev. Thanks for the great video. The rustler 4x4 is the only rc I own so I greatly appreciate videos of yours with all your knowledge and such. Keep em coming
"dont use the electric screw driver all the way" *as kev uses an impact*
It's not impact, it's a clutch. If you tune your drivers clutch well, you can use it to go all the way with no problem
@@nelsonmarques1334 The one he is using is an impact driver, if you look carefully, you will see that it doesnt have a clutch. A clutched one is the way to go though lol.
hi you have made me have the awesome hobbies of rc cars
Hi kev love the vids
Iv got gpm ones for my rustler 2wd there like a spline design instead of the d shape. They work really good.
FINISH IT đ!!!! Great Rip Kev. Love your shop pieces đ. Poor Rusty has had tough luck. Props for going 2 wheeling at the skatepark. Shoddy design on those Bangood shafts. MIP X-duty not quite. Was worth a shot though. Look forward to seeing her back out. đ»đđȘđđ
Thanks bro! yeh those shafts suck! I had mip and broke 3 on the 1st run!
@@KevinTalbotTV wow đ. Think I snapped one and busted pins on a few with my Backslash. Wonder if the quality went down. The X-duty use to be pretty solid đ€
Thank you Kevin, now I don't need to put on and test that metal driveshafts now, probably try something else.đ
Love the vids
Love my rustler, got the gpm shafts on mine, and the gtx shocks, their both worth every penny.
Very nice edited video!đ
Keep uploading I rely need good content to watch and thatâs your vids
Hey Kev, I've got a 6s rustler 4x4, totally not worth doing. It's crazy and I usually only run it on 3s. 4s is perfectly op tho.
But the sway bar kit TOTALLY changed the car. That and 60k diff oil. Those to are a complete game changer. You'll absolutely love the car at that point.
Btw MIP driveshafts hold up to 6s tumbles across parking lots đȘ
Yeah buddy i have a 4x4 6s 4292 motor slash. The things wants to break itself apart. The big bone center shaft is a life saver. Traxxas steel spline are great but the nut ends break once in a while. But that was with 150mm tires and tumbles across parking lots
Hay Kev love your vids
Love my granite! Have a few yard bash videos, I'm currently going 4s alsođđ€
Great video! I use Jx servos in all my RC cars! Even my race kits... I run jx BLS 7132's! O.7 0-60 degrees! 32 kg, or 454 oz-in!
03:17
The best way to leave a parking: saying bye with front right wheel.
Amazing videos hope you get to a million subs !!!!
I use tekno m6 driveshafts on my rustler and slash. And so far theyâve been great
Beautiful video! You crazy with a crazy car! đ€Łđ
My erevo v1 has similar plastic driveshafts/axle shafts. I was twisting off the stub axles on the wheel side about 2 out of 3 times I'd go out. I swapped the rears over to metal ones that look just like your front ones and I've only had 1 front plastic driveshaft fail out of the last 8 times I've gone bashing. Mine are cheap-o's from GPM I think but they seem decent for my level of abuse. I just got a Kraton 6S today so that's going to be my main rig from here on out. Had to get it used since it's still backordered everywhere but it's in great shape. Chassis and mechanicals/electronics all look and function like new. Even the body is barely cracked, and those things are thin as can be.
kevs ICONIC frase ive actually broken alot of this so i hope this ones last longer
Nice video kevin . Really good edting and work .
Thanks đ
@@KevinTalbotTV kev you canât even reeed my comment đ€đĄđĄ
I have no problems with the plastic drive shafts on my Rustler 4x4. I did however destroy my rear ring and pinion (From landing jumps on throttle). So, I upgraded to the Traxxas spiral hardened gears font and rear.
kev needs more support!! his channel is soooooo good!! :)
kev when are you going to do another video on the traxxas udr? :)
Iâve spent like $400 on shocks for my rustler and I finally bought good quality shocks and itâs really nice
MIP Xduty driveshafts have been the best so far for me. I use them on my stampede 4x4. It handles 3s very well.
I have the mip on my 2wd stampede
Have had MIPs on my stampede 4x4 vxl for 6 years. Little rusty but thatâs on me. Still absolute 3s wheelie monsters with big tires on high traction surfaces
The only thing I found that will hold up is the MIP splined driveshafts. A little pricey but well worth the money
I'd say the only truly strong drive shafts for the traxxas 1/10 platform are the MIP X-DUTYS, Tekno M6's and the new Traxxas Extreme heavy-duty steel splined drive shafts (I'm not talking about the constant velocity, those are only good for 2s).
The X-Dutys are best for 4s-5s power systems, the M6's are best for 3s bashing and the Extreme heavy-duty drive shafts seem best for 2s-3s racing (because they are the lightest)
He put mipâs on his slash 4x4 and broke 2 of them and cracked another right away after he put them on. So he put on the traxxas ones.
@@nate0765 to be fair Kev is extremely hard on his rc's and his expectations for durability are pretty high đ
Gpm drive shafts are like the ones in the rear but better because they sell a rustler 4x4 specific set. Ive crashed my rustler bad and bent the shaft thread portion at the end, hammered it straight and kept bashing, they are that good.
Anyone having this problem with driveshafts should just use slightly smaller tires. Slash tires and a slightly bigger pinion(depending on user 13-18 tooth) and youâll have no more issues. Other tire wheel choices are good too just needs to be smaller. Also make sure if you ever replace the shafts be sure to get the right ones. Thereâs (X)heavy duty(black) and (A)extreme heavy duty(grey),
Same complaint as on my Traxxas Stampede 4x4. The rear drive shafts are weak and kept breaking so replaced them with Fastrax ones (part FTTX262) but had 2 of those fail so went back to stock Traxxas plastic ones and now only run the car on 2S to save the rear shafts. Not great from Traxxas when Arrma 3S BLX range can take a 3S on plastic drive shafts without any troubles.
Hi Kevin, i have a question. i have the traxxas rustler 4x4 (not VXL) there is some shaking on the left front wheel (from the first day) if i drive forward there seems to be no problem but when i go backwards the whole care is going from left to right. do you have an idea what this could be?
Traxxas tough baby! Gr8 carnage loved it
I had those same metal axles on my slash 4x4. They didn't last 1 battery before pins ripped out. Replaced the pins and the shaft to hold the tire on snapped in half at the drive pin to hex. Worse axles I ever used. Plastic ones never stood a chance. Now I use mip for both front and rear and no more broke axles. Just have to use a lot of lock tight on the set screws.
I bougt GPM axles front and rear. They have been working for 6 month now. But,.....You have to make a shim to put between the bearings in the rear hubs.
Hi Kev, have you thought of using mini metal rose joints in place of the plastic rod ends on the Erevo 2.0
Your the man kevin!
Why I like your vids. U break it so we donât have to buy . Those shafts looked promising
Awesome video Kevin. Just a heads up your front tires are backwards at 4:14.
watching ur channel during classes
Iâve been using tekno rc driveshafts in my slash and rustlers for years and never managed to bend or break them. They are way cheaper than MIP and I feel tougher. The only negative is the suspension travel must be limited âvery slightlyâ to prevent the dogbone end popping out. That being said the stock setup is fine itâs only when you try to put longer shocks on itâs a issue. Of course nothing is unbreakable, if anyone can break it, kev can đ
Tru cheapest option out here with the best look and performance
This Tekno M6s was one of the best upgraded for my slash 4x4
Great video
Kev the v2 rustler 4x4 has grey driveshafts that are a bit better. I have broken the rear but I got those banggood ones (the blue ones) and they're fine. The front never broke for me. The c hub things broke a few times after skate park abuse but I've tortured my rustler so I can't really complain. I got the rpm ones and they've been fine so far. I also have a jx ecoboost 21kg servo and it's so fast. The stock servo is so weak the wheels often couldn't turn on dirt so a great upgrade. Thanks for the videos so I know what product are good and what aren't.
Hello Kev Iâve just got a trx-4 defender for my 12 birthday . Iâm a really big fan and one day hope to meet you
Tekno m6 drive shafts for the 4x4 slash perfect fit and are really good
Those drive shaft look the MIP shafts you put on the slash once.
Hello from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, I would like to know, if those 4pack tyres with the white spokes you had in the video rustler vxl 2wd, would fit a la trax rally car 1/18 scale. I have upgrade her with sealed bearings, traxxas 5 channel reciever and transmitter. Other upgrades are aluminum drive shafts and shocks, hot racing 60t metal spur gear, and I put in the velineon motor and esc. I am also doing other upgrades as well. This car is stupid fast. I just want to thank you for your time, mate
I like the Rustler Kevin. The blue loooks SWEEEET!
I'm not sure if those axles will hold up with the VXL system but I know they didn't hold up to my brothers Hobbywing Max10 with a 14 tooth pinion in his Stampede 4x4. Snapped one in 30 minutes. Jerry rigged it back together and literally popped the other 3 as soon as he nailed the throttle. 2 broke at the drive pin, the other broke clean off at the CV joint.
Like in 6:38 i had the same problem from the first hour of hard driving, not jumps. This bottom round plastic part holds the spring in straight and steady position. This part has a gap so you can remove it from the shaft and i lost it in the dirt when i was driving. Other than that is a good rc car and i don't do jumps, but for a fast hard driving and small jumps because of the uneven ground as a first day of driving i am impressed from the top speed and the wheelies and for how fast can accelerate. Thank God that exist hobby shops, that do monthly payments and that's how i managed to buy it. Guys if you buy it as first expensive rc car, you will get impressed of how fast it is and how easily do wheelies when you press full the throttle from a stopped position.
hewo kevin love your vids :3
I like the hot racing driveshafts they are quite expensive to buy but they have worked out very well I havenât broke one of them yet
Hey mate get your rusty sorted out :-) . Such a popular car, heaps of followers, weâd love to see u drive it. Just needs good shafts and shocks.
Hi kev.... Have question for you. I've just got back into rc cars again and I'm getting my son into it. I've just bought some tamiya cars to start him off he's got the lunchbox I've got a 4x4 beetle and a sudaru brat but there is a flaw in the front uprights and they keep braking even tho I've not been bashing it... Is there an upgraded part I can buy for it as I'm on my second set and I've inly taken it out about three four times its starting to be a pain now any help would be appreciated.... Cheers....
they make aluminum parts called "hop-ups" you can find them on amazon and bangood
Or rcmart
Hope you've spent the past year learning how to Google.
They don't make aluminium parts called hop up for this car and they're already aluminium.... This isn't my first car. Previuoly I had 11 different cars and various different mods done.
@@pikachuboy2013 looks like it's time to do some custom work my guy đ
Let us know if you find a different drive shaft. Looking into getting one of these. Might build it from the ground up.
I guess I'm a little to easy on mine but only just got it. Sure love it
Kev when you gonna put a mamba x esc and motor on the rustler 4x4?
Kev with the wpl did the remote come with the wires like switch and battery conecter
To fix that driveshaft issue of the new ones that came from Banggood try coating both halves of driveshafts with jb weld epoxy or the red permanent thread locker.
I was watching one of your videos and you uploaded another one
Insert x files music here
Love the video. Does the motor on ur rustler get super hot after just few mins of cruzing it around?
I have a VXL 2wd Rustler. I never got the 4wd version because I have a Losi Tenacity 4x4 Truggy that sits on the shelf 24/7.
2wd VXL on 3S is crazy enough!
âZombifiedâ I love it đ
Try the new âcold weatherâ plastic axles from Traxxas there cheap and tuff !
Are the stock driveshafts on the rustler much different to the slash as I've had alright luck with mine
I like the BMX track better than the skate park. Fun videos, keep it up. đđ
My rustler drive shafts have broken 1 time and Iâve had the truck for 8 months. And I run the heck outta it.
My rustler 4x4 with a hobbywing max10 sct and run 2s with 15t pinion and never broke one
Rc Addiction I constantly run 3s and once I broke the rear driveshaft. Other than that I feel like itâs indestructible haha
Iâve got a 4s rustler 2wd with badlands on it and I bash the shit out of it and never broke a plastic driveshaft. Iâve stripped gears and ripped entire wheels off and the driveshafts still havenât broke. Things an absolute beast.
I had mine for 10 years I just replaced them yesterday
Ive had my rustler 4x4 since they came out a year and half ago. I have a PILE of broken driveshaft pieces. I have broken those plastic driveshafts in every way possible. I might consider upgrading the rears, but good driveshaft upgrades for the rustler just are not out there.
Hey Kev, love this Truggie but is it fair to treat it as a Monster Truck and expect it to hold up the same. Itâs perfect for grass or dirt but not really a skate park basher donât you think?
Youâre right homie every car has it track
yeah i have the 2 x 4 rustler and you cant drive them like this, its more of a flat ground or onroad car
Yo bro - should still be better quality and hold up MUCH better than it does, if it did I would own one myself
I love my 4x4 rustler and i get you the stock servo sucks! Also on my rustler I have upgraded driveshafts to the traxxas one!
Had a similar issue with the e-revo 1/16. The servo they come with is really prone to breaking. Had to replace it with a metal gear after going through 2 OEM ones.
My revo 2.0 started making that grinding noise was the pinion gear slid on the shaft and was grinding the inside of the housing
Front tires were reversed! Awesome video!!đđœđ€đœ
Would love one of these got plenty og room to thrash one round. Just have to make do with my Terra Scorcher at the moment :(
Kevin i have a great idea but would take some serious modifications and time to make happen but I noticed you have like 3 xmaxx rc trucks, have you thought about making wings for one and seeing if you could get an rc to glied thru air after being launched?
