doesn't work for me with most apps, after clicking the .IPA file, error popup says "developer didn't intend that app on such platform" :(

I appreciate the work-arounds and may use it. But, it is troubling that such a work-around stands in contrast to Apple's DRM policy. Just a technicality it hasn't been implemented yet. Reminds me of a tethering app that Apple squashed years ago, The downloaded app still worked but would never be updated again, nor could it be re-downloaded.

The chances of FaceBook updating Instagram for M1 support would be slim because it would have to function similar to an iPad app (which FaceBook still does not have a regular iPad app version of Instagram). The thing with the iPad is that it can install iPhone apps at the moment but it's not perfect obviously.
THIS IS SO HELPFUL!! WOW! I got so close... except that when I tried to download the app I wanted, it told me I couldn't because my Apple ID hadn't bought it from the App Store before..?!

Hi @9to5Mac thx for the video, but I have a problem, my MacBook Air 2020, doesn't let me open the app, it says that the app cannot be opened because its not supported by this type of Mac. So is there another option to open the ipa. apps? Because this is why I really downloaded imazing, an I really need your help to open all the apps that I tried to download, so what can I do?
just to update everyone: trying to install .ipa files no longer works. a message pops up saying the developer did not intend for their app to be on this platform.
Running iOS apps was a selling feature for the new M1’s. If a developer makes an app for apple it should run on every apple device it can. How hard can it be to “optimize” an app for another device? Especially when it’s written in a code “even kids can learn”. 🤔
Supporting new platform also add extra layer of complexity to existing code base, more device/platform combination for testing and QA and also increase traffic in customer support. Yeah now devs only need to deal with M1 chip, in 5 years time, we'll ended up with low end M1-M5, mid-end M1-M5 and high end M1-M5 equal to 15 additional test configurations and 15 more test devices, more traffic for CI = more cost.
It should be the developer’s freedom of choice to propose his app for the devices he wants. Apple should not force the developers to face the consequences of bad user experiences on apps he didn’t carefully optimize, securize etc.

I worked part-time for about 6 months to get enough money to buy a macbook pro wit the new M1 chip but I didn’t knw we couldn’t use apps like google classroom, google docs, google chat, all these apps that i need for my school work. Hell i cant even download CZcams.. Im so disappointed nd dissatisfied 😩

I don't get it, I thought one of the main ideas of an ARM Mac (other than power and efficiency) was that you would be able to run iOS apps on it. I think we will never get a proper integration between mobile and desktop applications. Even in Windows case, after they role out project latte to run android apps, Google won't give them play services, so that won't take off either.

@@obezijana The conclusion is that the customers are silly and keep buying from company that promised something, release it and after that they cancel it and make sure no one can use it ever. The greed is the most advanced thing they produce I think ... But we as a customers deserve it because there is no response from us ....

Well I loaded Imazing and followed the video instructions but Instagram not would load. I got the message "This application cannot be installed because the developer did not intend for it to run on this platform". Same message with other apps too. Starting to regret the M1 purchase

Sad that not many apps are accessible for the Mac, missed opportunity. Hopefully they will join as all the new laptops will have m1 chips.

Doesn't work for me, after going to the iMazing Configuratr, it says I have 2 factor authorisation on my apple id, which I don't, this is not switched on, but doesn't let me go any further

Wow I just noticed when I watched this video on my iphone youtube app, the video player is brighter compared to the UI because of the HDR, weird af.

@@TJ-dp1kt This method doesn't work on newer versions of MacOS. You would have to downgrade to an older version.
You can’t do anything about it. It’s the developer’s choice. I don’t know why’d they not want people to use their apps on Macs if they do on iPhone, but I guess they might have some ironing to do before launching the app officially optimised for macOS.

It doesn't work anymore :( I tried doing this with Procreate and I got it to install as an application and everything seemed to have worked until I tried opening it and it just wouldn't launch. In my applications I went to procreate and clicked "show package contents" and it showed a WrappedBundle (the Procreate app data), and when I clicked on that it said that "you can't open the application 'Procreate' because this application is not supported on this Mac." I knew it wasn't supported on Mac already but I guess Apple patched this method again.
This still works on March 2021, Big Sur 11.2.2

I wouldn’t do that since that’ll mean no getting security updates for an app that uses my credentials (username and password) and might be buggy too 🤨

You can fish out IPA files from iOS back-ups on your Mac.

Sideloaded twitch, because I cannot get over the fact that on the website, you can't see all channels you follow. The mac app is basically a copy of the twitch website plus free bugs. Absolute trash.
