@@M1GarandPing 6 rings > 2 rings... #1 pick > #3 pick... "Man we picked well but we didn't pick the best option, we made a little mistake. We missed out on FOUR rings and a world's load of attention and exposure."
Hakeem won 50 plus games 5 times in Houston. 58 was the highest win total.
MJ won 60 plus games 5 times in Chicago. 72 was the highest win total. Chicago won 50 plus 8 times with MJ, 1 time with Pippen alone.
I like Hakeem. I remember as a kid thinking if Bowie was a mistake and Jordan is the greatest ever, then Hakeem is a mistake too, right? The thought naturally came up in my head. It was a logical progression but my heart denied it because Hakeem was one of my favorites which tells me alot. Hakeem could mean a lot to Houston fans but he was still only a consolation prize when the guy you didn't draft when you had a chance won 6 championships and made everybody rich.
Think about it, Houston could have been the town that hosted the world's greatest athlete in the 80's and 90's instead Chicago holds that distinction and that is a point of pride. Houston missed out on everything that was and is and will be MJ. They got what Hakeem was and is and will be but that was never or will never be better than having had your name forever attached to Jordan.
9,000 years from now people will remember Chicago as the city where Michael Jordan , historically renowned artist lived and created his legend. In 900 years people will forget Houston existed and that some Hakeem Olajuwon played there.
      You made a mistake Houston.

If there's any pick you could live with drafting over Jordan hakeem is one of them. We're talking about people not realising how amazing Jordan was because how could anyone? If there's any player in history u could live with drafting over Jordan its hakeem... and maybe like wilt Chamberlain.. and bird. And Kareem. And magic.

Eric Escibedi there's a difference between underrated and overlooked
Underrated: Stockton ( Moses) Malone Moncrief Pierce Richmond
Overlooked: Duncan Hakeem Hondo Dikemebe Dirk Miller
The overlooked is really that these guys are recognize for being great and recognize their rankings but that's where the story begins and ends All their numbers and their impact is not as truly felt in comparison to the Jordan Bird Magic Kobe Shaq Iverson Lebron those names will continue to repeat in history over and over again where those names I've mentioned for overlooked is merely their great but you won't really look into how dominant they really are and it won't spark debates in comparison to the more popular players.

    • @MrSlashblade
      @MrSlashblade Před 6 lety +4

MYJEEP GOSKEEERT underrated merely means people underestimate. No one underestimates Hakeem he is in the rank as a NBA player as top 10 and in some NBA players list they have ranked him as the best NBA player at the center position (ie Michael Jordan). However his entire career has been he has great post moves good defense and won 2 rings. He's overlooked because his story is more than that. He's a transcendent star who when he retired he was top ten in scoring rebounds steals and blocks (the steals no one really recognizes how hard it is for someone to achieve that especially at his position) When Lebron does anything people will tell you in the month of march at 30 degree weather Lebron is the first to do xxx however Hakeem is the only player in NBA history when once retired he was top 10 in 4/5 major stats but that falls by the waist side. Despite it people still recognize his more basic accomplishments. So if I put my two comments together it will be easier to see the difference between underrated and overlooked

@@OckdaGod1 heres my thing, if jordan goes 1 is he the goat? Because putting clyde and hakeem on the same team in there primes. Who is going to beat them? No one likes saying it but with old clyde and hakeem they beat the suns, utah and swept the magic in the finals and they were old.
MJ never had a winning season without scottie and never won a playoff series without scottie. After sampson got hurt the rockets had no idea who to put around hakeem, what if they do that with jordan?
To me Jordan isnt the goat but when you switch history like that most people would agree without his 6 rings he isnt in the conversation either.

@@dalephillip2142 Thats so dumb. Hakeem was a better facilitator, just because he didnt bring the ball up doesnt mean the game wasnt set threw him. Also at no point is lebron better at scoring in any fashion. Im pretty sure Hakeem sweeping shaq and dropping 33 a game on him at will is better then Lebron dropping 18 a game against the mavs in 2011 and getting blown out by a NBA finals record margin in the finals in 2013 vs a 38 year old duncan and 36 old manu.
Lastly wade was was 29 when lebron came on and he averaged 25 a game in a 2nd player role. Yeah D-wade was still in his prime and Bosh was 100% in his prime being bosh best year with the raptors was literally the last year he was there and took the role on as the 3rd guy on the heat.

Landon wilt played in the weakest era in basketball, yes he put up crazy numbers but that was only because teams averaged way more possessions per game, that's why players such as the Big O, Russell, and Baylor were able to also put up crazy stats. Also Hakeem outplayed Kareem as a Sophomore in the league average 31, 11, 2 steals, and 4 blocks. He outplayed Ewing in the 1994 finals holding him to 36% from the field. He outplayed a young shaq as well, dominated David Robinson averaging 35 12 and 4 blk... I think Kareem is the only one who may be better, however for every one but wilt we can clearly see who is better hakeem outplayed every one of them in a playoff series

Hakeem was a great player. His fundamentals are the best I have seen of any big man in the NBA. Even the all time greats. He was such a joy to watch. He had finesse when he played, he could be smooth while still been powerful on both sides of the ball. However, what impresses me the most was his humbleness and how soft spoken he was. A true leader, who showed class on and off the court. Thanks for making this video!

He was a product of great PGs and isn't even the real all-time leading scorer, that's Karl Malone.

Kareems numbers went down when he played with Magic, but he still averaged over 20 until he was 38 years old. He played 20 seasons and was a 19 time all star.
