- Solo Helldive, Max Difficulty Lvl 9, all objectives (Main + Optional) completed, all outposts destroyed, no deaths.
Modifiers: Tremors
Planet: Fori Prime
Patch version: 1.000203
Taking a break from the Automaton front for this one to test out my Tachanka build against some Terminids - while this started out as a meme / theme build, it ended up being a really fun and effective way to take on the bugs. This build involves a slightly different playstyle - while usually I alpha-strike objectives then follow it in with an assault, this build is all about setting up with the HMG emplacement and Autocannon Turret outside an objective, kicking the hornet's nest and killing everything that comes out, then pushing in when the spawns die down.
Click here for the version without commentary: • Helldivers 2 // Tachan...
__________
Build:
This build is centred on the HMG Emplacement - while Tachanka's OG deployable turret in R6 Siege was cool but impractical, the HMG Emplacement is anything but - with the armour penetration to take out any bug smaller than a Charger, the firerate and damage to tear through entire hordes, and a decent cooldown, this stratagem is highly underrated as a way to take on bug breaches head on. While it excels at defence objectives like Geological Survey missions, it can also be used to clear out an objective or nest before you move in. It also puts in the work vs Shrieker Nests, able to take them out whether you're out of range or in the thick of it with fliers overhead.
Its weakness? Heavily armoured enemies like Bile Titans and Chargers, which is where the Autocannon Turret comes in. If you can keep the light and medium enemies off it with the HMG, it will keep those heavier targets off your back - just make sure to stun Chargers before they can charge you down.
Using Stun nades previously meant sacrificing a Stratagem slot to take care of Bug Holes, but with the addition of the Eruptor and the Grenade Pistol, we've got that covered. I've gone with the Grenade Pistol for this run, acting like a single-shot grenade launcher for taking out bug holes from a decent distance, and keeping the Breaker for some up close burst damage. Alternatively, you can switch roles and pair the Eruptor with the Redeemer instead, which gives you a slightly better option for Charger kills (4 shots to the buttocks).
While we're on the move or when the turrets are down, I'll be relying on the Stalwart to keep the hordes off my back. What this lacks in Anti-Tank ability, it makes up for in exceptional crowd clear, with a great firerate, huge magazine, and the ability to reload on the go that gives it the edge over the slightly more armour-penetrating MG against bugs.
500kg rounds out the stratagems as my dedicated anti-Titan counter, though I might also use it against Chargers in emergencies.
For armour, we’re going with the Fortified Commando heavy armour with its extra padding bonus that takes our armour all the way up to 200, making us very tanky - this means we don’t immediately have to bail when enemies reach the HMG emplacement, as we can simply pop a stim and keep firing away. While you do pay for that survivability in your speed and stamina, I'm taking the Stamina Booster which helps a little with the latter.

Hi man nice vid i always use the hmg emplacement versus bug but instead of the stalwart i use the spear for one shot the bile titan, you should try it. It's so fun and they are so underrated stratagems.
"Im an Engineer, that means i solve Practical Problems"
How am I going to stop some mean mother hubbard from tearing me a structurally superfluous be-hind? The answer, use a gun, and if that don't work... Use more gun.
not problems like "What is beauty?" Because that would fall within the purview of your conundrums of philosophy.
@@Memealytis I solve *practical* problems. (Takes a swig of Liber-tea as the sound of machine gun fire rings out, followed by a Terminid screech and yellow blood splattering) For instance...how am I gonna stop some big, mean, democracy-hating bug from tearing me a structurally superfluous new behind?

Bro I've been binge watching your videos I love your play style and commentary!
Glad you like them! :)
i’m so impressed by your ability to just make these builds work! goes to show that a lot of stratagems are perfectly fine and have their use cases, really inspires me to try out different things
The stalwart is sooooo satisfying to use
Love how it sounds in max firerate
@@newspiked7385 definitely
Sick build. Honestly way impressed with the stalwart. I wrote it off as as a noob gun. I do like the live commentary. It adds a layer of immersion/suspense even though the tile says full clear deathless XD
If I am in a group, I always run Stalwart and Dominator. Dominator is used to crack medium armor and the swarms are Stalwart territory. It also allows me to cover teammates from high positions, then run like hell and reload to cover retreats.
The only time I don't do Stalwart is if I am the Spearman.
Im really happy your videos exist. I still see people who think if you dont run the shield pack you are throwing the game. Hopefully the more popular these videos get the less i need to deal with people trying to tell me that in pubs.
Thanks! You'll show them yourself in-game when you end up with fewer deaths than them :)
Adding onto this
after sucessfully running difficulty 7 missions solo 100% for samples-
the whole teamkill and engage everything everywhere + the clusterbombs to the areas we wanted / NEEDED to advance to really tilted me.
(I play the game with friends mostly, where we can play for fun but thanks to his videos i carry most of the misssion objectives even there.)
Yesterday i managed to pull of my first Helldiver difficulty 100% solo run with 20 common & rare samples + 6 super samples and it felt SSOOO satisfying.
It was on the botfront though, objective command bunkers. I had one of my friends in discord, calling me out why i didn t had a shield bag lol. I d like to think all of that was only possible because of his videos.
Some take it as entertainment, others as inspirations and what i like most, is that it can also be gameplay guides.
Build was orbital 380 barrage, orbital laser & the AP Rifle.
Just realised you meant public matches, and sadly not that this game has reached "chatting shit down the local" level of popular
I keep telling my friends the HMG turret is GOATED love using it and really enjoyed using it on the defense missions we had!
It's the best weapon for making your character scream like a madman, so it's definitely goated :D
Very appreciated the brightness! Fun loadout indeed
You deserve 6M subs. For now... I'm doing my part!
I always like to see theme builds. My two buddies and I played a campaign where we rolled 1-3 to see which element each of us would take. Fire, Electricity, or Lasers and we built load outs around those results.
I haven’t done it yet, but I think it would be fun to create a wheel to spin for each stratagem slot, weapon slot, or armor. So you could have a fully randomized load out.
Yeah, I love themed builds too. Have an all laser build that I've wanted to do a vid on for a while but in all honesty it's not the strongest, only really good for long distance trash clear.
Re: the randomised loadouts, one of my viewers actually linked me to a cool app they made for randomising stratagems, though it doesn't have weapon etc. yet I think it's a pretty cool tool for random challenge runs: helldivers-randomizer.surge.sh/
I like your variety builds. I understand carrying OP build did make the gameplay easier but you really doing a good job on explore different builds. Make your video very enjoyable.
Makes playing the game more enjoyable too :) I have my favourite builds but I'd get bored if they were all I used.
Really enjoying your vids and playstyle brother keep it up, non-meta builds are so fun to mess around with and your commentary is very useful learning alot from you.
I've come to appreciate the Stalwart when run with the Eruptor. Eruptor vs bugs is incredible at one-shotting Bile Spewers and Brood Commanders, but with its slow fire rate and wide blast, hunters will give it trouble without another weapon to clear swarms.
I love running turrets/mines in my missions, but for some reason, I never had it in me to run the HMG emplacement. I might have to try it out next time. Those shrieker nest helped give it a good demonstration, lol!
Yeah, they're a really nice pair, definitely a more complimentary match than what I ran with but I had to stick to the theme, ha.
Like with turrets, the emplacement takes some adjusting to, if you don't place it well and you get swarmed quickly, it feels like a wasted slot, but if you can actually keep them alive they're amazing. Turrets + Emplacement go really well together IMO.
I like pairing it with crossbow for the same reason, but sadly the crossbow is a bit more niche and less versatile
FINALLY a good video about the HMG emplacement! I've been using it for weeks and people have been shitting on me in pub matches for choosing it.
Pairing it with the Spear is a power move. You can blast a factory or heavy enemy and then use the HMG to handle all the drop ship fodder.
Haven't used it much vs the bots, tho I noticed it could shred the Hulks when using the map ones in the high value assets missions. Will have to check it out some more!
@@grumblekinNow that I'm gonna have to try, i already love running the spear
Hell yea tachankaaaaaaaaaaa
The maximum dakka build
An ork would love this and so do I
Great stuff! Been using the HMG emplacement in the old eradicate missions and had tons of fun with it. Glad to see it's still useful.
Yeah, I originally just used them in defences too but they're surprisingly good for full missions too.
PS: love your videos, keep them coming! I've yet to really fall for the crossbow but you made it look good in your last one.
Cheers!
I am learning a lot from your videos , thanks
Well done. Well done indeed.
Awesome Unique build
Patrols don't (necessarily) spawn in outposts. Instead, they spawn in the direction of an outpost, about 90-140 meters distant from you, oriented towards somewhere near you. So it appears as though they had come from the outpost, but they don't have to walk across the entire map. Though extraction zones at the edge of the map are the simplest version of no-enemy extractions, there are also other possibilites. If the extraction is on a waterfront, the outposts are across the water and the valid spawnzones are all in the water, no patrols will spawn.
It also means that after destroying every outpost, it should be safe to run around the edge of the map (notwithstanding static spawns and drops/breaches, of course).
Yeah, not literally from the outposts but from their direction, to simulate that they're being sent from there. I should have been clearer!
Love these vids
I never knew you could use HMG emplacement to take out shrieker nests! This is amazing! I mostly run solo too so I enjoy content like yours, I do have a question - do you have all ship upgrades unlocked? That 500kg cooldown is crazy!
I have everything except the bugged new one (the one that's meant to give you full ammo for support weapons on resupply). Hope it gets fixed soon!
@@newspiked7385 I didn't realise that one was bugged? It seems to be working fine for me. I've definitely noticed filling AMR from 1 mag to 6 from one box. Unless I'm now wondering if I'm gaslighting myself
@@thesuperginge1348 maybe they fixed it? I know when it first came out it wasn't working, maybe for only some guns?
The grenade pistol is such an amazingly welcome game changer.
Another Banger!!
this is my type of build!!! not practicle for a lot of movement. but perfect for holding down a position
Amazing gameplay. I also use similar build instead of breaker I use Eruptor, instead of HMG emplacement I use orbital rail canon or laser. Pretty fun build.
If you type in the strategem code and hold the beacon ball you can run the time out and still use it much after the ship has left low orbit, you can do the same with hellbombs on side objectives and take them across the map
Knew the first one, had no idea about the second tho :o. That's pretty cool
Great gameplay. Learned some nice tips. I’m too old and slow to do this solo ha but I still love playing
Love more to see some coop using the recoiless rifle, the weapon seems strictly worst than the quasar imo but could have great potential in teams with good coms
Had a nice coop run with it tonight, so it's on the upload list :). Definitely has some advantages over the Quasar, instant fire being the big one, but the team reload can take it to another level. Not difficult to get going either, just call for the teammate and drop the pack on the floor.
Thx for sharing this setup!
The stalwart is very nice :D
Why you prefer the normal breaker over the incendiary?
Have to test the tower builds for myself. I tend more to offensive play yet
I like both, Breaker is better for tougher enemies with its better accuracy and burst damage, the Incendiary is better for hordes of small enemies with its spread and large mag.
No Death content is always stellar and inspiring but please, PLEASE make a 'dumb ways to die' death compilation and also share your total death vs total finished missions
I'd need to start keeping count of my deaths to total finished :P. Definitely varies depending on the race and the loadout, some loadouts just make the deathless run a breeze, others take getting used to.
Been meaning to make a compilation of cool moments / dumb fails from unused runs! I just keep running out of drive space and having to delete old runs before I can get round to it >_
@@newspiked7385 While it would feel more tedious, I recommend starting a timer whenever you start a new mission and after a silly death, looking at the timer, writing down the time, and then you can just replay the mission video and clip the exact 'scene' and you can just add goofy music to not worry about ingame sound or voice comms
Would be a short compilation. He never dies xD
I thought that was a parasite coming out of the bugs when i first saw it.i thought cool they thought of that
Hey man great run! I learned a lot! First time seeing you. Which booster did you use? Localization confusion?
While the stalwart is great, what are your thoughts on using a laser guard dog instead? That basically does the work for you.
Heck, replace HMG turret with a laser guard dog and use that with the stalwart. But maybe your loadout is best for solo, since in a squad someone usually brings EATs or quasar to take out those shrieker nests.
What are your thoughts on the breaker incendiary vs standard breaker?
Which other primary do you recommend against bugs? Scorcher? Slugger? The breaker was always my go-to weapon before I unlocked the slugger, and then the scorcher.
How did you throw the SEAF missiles?
I enjoyed watching you play for 44 minutes. That's quite a commitment of time nowawadays.
Thanks for watching! Full build's in the description, I was running Stamina Booster to help with the lower stamina on Heavy Armour.
The Rover is cool, but I prefer the direct fire of the Stalwart on this build. Definitely a strong choice for bugs, yeah.
I wouldn't replace the HMG with it tho, while you could argue the Stalwart does the same as the primary + rover, the HMG covers more roles like Shrieker nest destruction and taking bug breaches head on.
Breaker and the Incendiary version are both good, the Incendiary is better for trash mobs, standard does better for Medium enemies imo. Breaker Spray and Pray is underrated too, I gotta do a vid with that soon, amazing for hunter swarms.
For other bug primaries, I'm a big fan of the Punisher, one shots the little things, easy to keep topped up with the individual reload, and can stunlock Stalkers and interrupt bug breach calls. Scorcher I don't like so much because of the chance of friendly fire if a hunter jumps in your face, it's great for bots tho.
You can throw the SEAF shells by moving ahead of the shell, picking it up then switching to your gun to let go before it reaches your hands, that'll fling the shell forwards.
Thanks for watching the whole run! Think a lot of people watch them as their mealtime program :P
Just a thought; next time something like that HMG emplacement got placed on unmountable high ground maybe try to use supply stratagems for a makeshift boost
True! Had to do that before to reach a geo control panel
This dude makes my efforts seem subdemocratic.

I feel like I'm on a first name basis with your auto cannon turret and it's got more personality than the turrets from Portal 2. *_TARGET ACQUIRED_*

I'll have to try a similar loadout, I've been taking the stallwart and autocannon turret with an airstrike lately and love it with the 'nade pistol but I've always wanted to use the hmg
It's fun! Just bring a stun nade to protect your turrets and you're good
9:20 is an excellent example of why the 500 needs either a damage buff or range buff. You dropped it in the middle of that huge group and it only took out 7. That should've been at least 15 easy. It looks more impressive than it actually is
They should probably either tweak the AoE, or change the visuals to match it better. Afaik it's more like an upside down cone than a sphere.
Still the best anti-Titan though, 2 charges, each can kill at least 1, sometimes 2 Titans.
Hey Spiked! Great content! May I ask how do you throw the missiles that u picked from the floor? I know that you go faster by spaming pick up and drop, but what you do is different and they go flying. How do you achive that?
Thanks! Yeah it's actually pretty simple:
1) walk a little ahead of the shell in the direction you want to throw it
2) pick up the shell, then before it reaches your hands, quickly let go of the shell by switching to your gun
3) the shell will keep its momentum and be thrown forwards
@@newspiked7385 Thank you very much! That was quite usefull and I woudn't have figure it out on my own at all xD
Cool
I’ll admit I do wish shrieker nests spawned a small handful (~5) shriekers when you destroyed a tree from outside their normal aggro range. completely negating them with the tried and true “I stand here and shoot you from across the map” is effective but I do wish you had to actually interact/deal with the enemy itself, even if a ‘revenge attack’ of ~5 per tree wouldn’t actually be threatening.
Though I think the nest Should probably still only spawn its ‘revenge attack’ if destroyed from outside its aggro range.
Sorta why I like the gunships, gotta deal with them. Though I do just love shooting them both down, Anti-Air is typically my go-to role in games when possible
Yeah, I think they saw how trivial players were making shrieker nests and thought "nah let's make them plant a hellbomb for the gunship factories". Flipside is if you do alert the shrieker nests, the spawnrate is much more oppressive. A revenge spawn would be neat tho, yeah.
@@newspiked7385 oh yeah those spawns are quite spicy, definitely warrants killing them across the map if possible. Whereas gunships are much more manageable i feel, as long as they are downed quickly by someone with an AMR/AC/laser cannon. or a conveniently placed SAM if lucky
though the chaos is fun when i accidentally spawn near shrieker nest at mission start sometimes
Hey Spiked, do you think the Eruptor is the META primary right now (when considering that you can reload cancel)? I have enough for one warbond however I don't know whether to go Jar-5 dominator or eruptor.
Not at all, depends completely on your choice of support weapon IMO. If you're using one of the AT specialists like Eats, Quasar, RR, Spear etc., you're going to have to rely on your primary for the vast majority of enemies, and I think the slower firerate and AOE FF make it awkward to use for personal protection. Whereas the Eruptor pairs really well with stuff like MGs, AMR, and other all purpose Support weapons that you can use for trash and tougher enemies alike. My two cents anyway!
9:44 . 15:10 . 26:28 💥🔥
You make great videos. So much better than the buzzword salad garbage most HD2 channels are spewing out.
Thanks :) I do my best to avoid clickbait!
17:26 pain
I wept a single tear
I'd love to see a build that's got the crossbow at its core. Either co-op or solo
I've barely touched it, definitely need to put it through its paces
For audio, I think the commentary should be noticeable louder than the game sounds or the game sounds just very toned down.
If you recorded the commentary during gameplay, in software like Audacity you can try and soften the game sounds through sampling, really simple stuff.
Just some advice for future videos, loving them so far.
How do you go about grinding samples in your free time? Do you have a solo strategy?
I don't really grind anything, I just play solo / coop and it comes naturally.
What are the settings to optimize my aim, or is it just practice makes perfect?
Just practice I think :/ some weapons are snappy, others are pretty sluggish, so it's not like you can just change your sensitivity settings for one of them.
@@newspiked7385 Thanks for the response bro, but I was mostly referring how as I move the reticle, it seems like I’m all over the place 😅
whats the advantage of taking the other breakers vs the incendiary breaker?
Standard Breaker has better burst damage, but smaller mag. So better for quickly taking down tougher enemies, not as good for trash mobs. Spray and Pray is similar to the Incendiary, but slightly faster with no risk of incendiary FF, but less damage. Both of those two are great for little guys like hunter swarms.
What's your setup? I'm looking to upgrade my gpu specifically for this game
I'm on a RTX 3060, so nothing top end, but it runs just fine for me!
@@newspiked7385 precisely the one I'm thinking of getting! Thanks for answering
have u consider implementing any form of minefild in your builds. i cant stress how much people are sleeping on the mines
Yeah I like em, I used the incendiary mines in this run for example: czcams.com/video/rXeJKGG2YsU/video.htmlsi=74qJgfv3CON2VRLB
At 5:55 you have thrown a disk very far away. I've seen before throwing an explosive barrel such far. Would you enlighten me how did you do that
For the SEAF shells, it's not too difficult:
1) walk a little ahead of the shell in the direction you want to throw it
2) pick up the shell, then before it reaches your hands, quickly let go of the shell by switching to your gun
3) the shell will keep its momentum and be thrown forwards
For the explosive barrels it's a little trickier as you can't walk over them easily like the SEAF ones, but you can still pick it up when your character is slightly ahead of them.
Thanks!
Hello, how do you throw SEAF missiles?
Yeah, it's not too difficult:
1) walk a little ahead of the shell in the direction you want to throw it
2) pick up the shell, then before it reaches your hands, quickly let go of the shell by switching to your gun
3) the shell will keep its momentum and be thrown forwards
I do love MGs, though I do wish AH would buff them a bit more, it's so weird something so clunky-looking like Quasar/LasrCannon have such good handling, but not MGs, still though, I've been able to SOLO Helldive bugs a couple of times with the MG-206 as well, especially now that we have grenade pistol for some side objectives.
MG-206 is nice for bursting down Charger's butt with stun grenades (exactly 25 bullets, tho I wish they kept the 1200RPM mode), killing Bile Spewers/Commanders/Hive Guards, handling Shrieker's nest from a distance and finishing off Bile Titans occasionally (with the ability t penetrate through the underbelly). I do hope eventually they'll give HMG at least a damage boost like AMR though, it'd be so nice for Chargers.
MG-206 is quite finnicky right now, especially with the sight misallignment, but I've managed to make it work (with the help of a crosshair program :9). I pair it with a good horde-clearing primary, like Defender/Sickle and Breakers, sometimes Blitzer (amazing horde-clear but slow) and it's pretty rounded out. Plus, 500kg and airstrike and all that. I hope you'll give it a try, I can only do so much in solo with my low-performance PC, would really like to see how you can perform with MG-206, it's my favorite support weapon right now (despite some flaws).
Yeah, I remember trying the HMG vs bugs when it first came out and loving it for Charger kills, but felt I was missing that general trash clear, the slow (and frequent) reload makes it tricky for solo too. I'll give it another shot sometime tho, maybe in coop!
@@newspiked7385 yeah I definitely don't use it for trash clear, though it can SOMEWHAT do so here and if needs must, mostly for bigger chaffs (if only they fixed the sight misallignment already), I usually just save the bullets to kill Hive Guards/Commanders and Bile Spewers really quickly, like how you'd play the AMR for bugs. I really do wish it can one-tap Hunters consistently though, if it does, it'd be amazing for semi horde-clear here and there.
As for the reload, same with the MG-43, I make use of the staged reload+crouch/melee cancel mechanic to reload on the move, it doesnt elimiate the hindrance, but it does help alot, especially once ur able to kill all hunters. And obviously stun grenades+shield BP help mitigate the risks.
The problem with the video is the low bitrate. Makes darkness very blocky. Question is whether that's your original file or if it's YT crunching it. If it's the latter you could try uploading it as a 1440 vid, which YT affords a higher bitrate.
Hmm, I'll have to experiment. I'm recording my raw footage at 50mbps and rendering at 40mbps, any larger than that and my files get impractically large to store / upload.
@@newspiked7385 The bitrate for your files sound fine. You could compare your own file with that on youtube and see if you discern a noticeable difference. I think you will.
An idea is to render it in 1440p, with the same bitrate. It's just to trick youtube to not crunch the file as hard. I think it might work.

What armor did you use for this mission?
Should be in the description: Fortified Commando, one of the ones in the super credit circulation.
Why weren't there any bile spewers?. It's this common for level 9?
On 9, its either there are no bile spewers or there is a shit ton of it
I typically run 7s and get swarmed by the spewers. Saw this and was in shock that there weren't any at all. No bile morters to worry with or sneaky spawn behind you that ganks you.I guess I should play more 9s😈
@@crixis887 it does make sense if you think about, they are living creatures with their own preferred habitats. Not every single species can survive on every planet
@@crixis887 It's not the difficulty level. Each map has its own preferences of enemies. Some maps have loads of hunters OR chargers OR titans (though they will typically still show up in at least a small number). For bile spewers and nursing spewers, the map's either filled with them or there are none at all. It's likely that they're also more / less likely to be on a planet if it's cold / hot. And I've heard that bile spewers only show up in 20% of maps, though this isn't accurate in my experience. Maybe nursing spewers also show up in a separate 20%, so it feels more like some sort of spewer in general shows up roughly half the time.

28:42 Man that crit was BS. 3 of those attacks and you weren't even down half your health then BOOM the headshot and you're at 5%. It is true that it did save you in that moment but knowing that headshot crits don't mitigate any damage always leaves a sour taste in my mouth in moments like these.
Guess it gives you an incentive to wear heavies for a bigger safety margin. You can also dodge them so there's some counterplay at least
its a multiplayer game, team up with some friends
he plays with people too, sometimes doing solo is fun just to challenge yourself
