"One legged cable bullshit" 😂😂 What a legend.
Hahahah
Optimal bodybuilders im shambles
Describes my gym to a tee!...so many clowns in the gym...
Jeff Nippard enters the chat🤓
@@KeithBurtons Bicep curls while keeping balance on a medicine ball and doing squats at the same time is great for hypertrophy.
/Guys at my gym.
Genius of bodybuilding. “Your body doesn’t know which exercise you’re doing. It only knows how hard it’s working” ….so simple, so practical….and that is Dorian’s genius
This guy can BACK anything. He is BACK
100%!
They dubbed him the beast with two backs in the 90s for a reason.
Please listen to him and share this video. I wasted years changing my exercises up with little to show.
Same boat. Was told the muscle was almost some sort sentient being that needed to be "shocked" all the time with exercise rotations and different exercises. Same routine with Incremental, progressive overload is all you need and thats it!
@@crooster1 same, in my 20s I would lie on my bed with magazines out, always writing up new routines all the time, when I should have been sticking to a basic routines so I can write down my poundage's in order and work on getting stronger. yeah you always heard that "shocked" all the time. everything had to be mixed up.
Changing routine is disinformation spread by the competition to screw you up
Will ! How do you aspire otherwise
Hope you get bigger bro , nice honesty , respect
Basics is the key.
🎯
All day everyday and twice on Sunday
Changing your routine because “you want to confuse your muscle” never made sense to me.
Broscience
I first heard that from Arnold himself

@@druid3694 they didnt have anywhere near the amount of info we now have. that was 40 years ago dude.

The Head of PT refused to hire me as a trainer because I refused to draw up "exciting, functional training modules" for clients. He said my suggestions were boring, traditional bodybuilding exercises.
Sounds about right in that field.
Exactly! If the basics do the trick, why waste time inventing exercises that are less effective 🤦🏾♂️
I had a very very similar experience. It was jarring to hear. Like okay you really don't value results over the shiny golden veneer bullshit, don't care about actually changing the lives of your members.
Those exercises are great for building a foundation, and they still are. Still great for experienced trainers
Variation always worked for me. Just keep the big exercises in the schedule 😊
This guy is the most intelligent person talking about bodybuilding. I praise his superior mind
Straight talking truth is a beautiful thing.😊
‼️
He just put the whole fitness industry out of business with the truth. To paraphrase Ronnie - everybody wants big muscles but no one wants to lift heavy weights. Stick to the tried and true
Heavy AAASSSSS weight
800 SOLID ASS POUNDS!!!!
What a load of rubbish.
Ronnie only lifted LIGHT WEIGHT
Absolutely I just change the rotation of the exercises, but the exercises themselves stay the same, bench, squats, overhead presses, bentover rows, power clean and press, deadlifts,, and 1 day for just forearm, bicep, tricep arm day.
Don't forget buns day 😂😂
That’s right! The heavy basic compound lifts are the foundation for building a great body. I’m 45 and still do the same things. Occasionally I’ll change the rotation like you do.
"it's not about creating different stupid techniques that just don't work, it's about getting extremely good with the basics"
Changing exercises is promoted so that personal trainers will have a job.
💪 THE SHADOW 💪
He is a true genius
True. I didn't see any improvement on myself when I was changing excersies all the time. Now that I do the same exercises I can see massive improvements.
"One legged cable bullshit" man the girls in the gym that I go thru will be mad when they hear this. 😂
Wise words from the man himself! 💪
Ronnie was the best bodybuilder of all time and one if not THE strongest and he always trained basic movements with progressive overload
Wh
I've gotten more results past couple years with exact same workout and I started tracking again. Numbers don't change much but it keeps me locked in
I disagree. I replaced squats with one-legged cable bullshit and my legs got huge.
Doesnt that just confirm what he said though, find what works for you and do that. If squats aint working for whatever reason, do one legged cable bullshit and see if that works kek, just dont go swapping around all the time.
I changed my flapping hands and shot the biggest load of my life, Yates obviously doesn't know what he's talking about 👀😎
💯 I'm old school. Lee Haney was my "idol" as a freshman (1987) in high school. After Haney, I became a massive fan of Yates and others.
I've been doing Yates' "Blood and Guts" routine for 15 years.
Simple, effective in and out. It's *all* about intensity.
There's no need to change it unless, as Yates said, you need a psychological mixup.
HIT works, we can thank Arthur Jones and Casey Viator and Mike and Ray Mentzer and Dorian Yates.
@@p.l.diablo9864 100% - I've been using it in every aspect, even cardio.

Dorian Yates PHD .
Time to get NASTY YATES !!
I've learned to change my routines with miror tweaks in a micro or mezo cycle. Prior to these adjustments I had several joint or tendon problems coupled with a pinched nerve. With the changes these issues went away as to established an improved inner muscular balance which helped to re-align the deep fascia.
Simple brilliance. Glad I have followed this advice over the last 30+ years since I first was introduced to THE SHADOW when I was 13.
Never met Dorian but have met Ronnie numerous times throughout his prime. For different reasons, they're both GOATS.
"he doesn't know what he's talking about..."
He knows exactly what he's talking about. That's Mr O - Dorian Yates!
Love him, legend
Well gawddamn I'm going to start doing Bent over rows! Never done them before
Love that information! 💪
Absolutely true
I am bit believe different of this opinion. Changing the routine every training day made a difference for me specially for arms. I got 20 inch arm naturally I believe from changing the routine everytime at the end it's mind game
Yes Sir !
I agree. I've been doing the last 2 or 3 years only squats and that's it for leg day, no cables,no machines,no lunges, nothing else just squats. I change it up and do front squats every 4-5 months and then go to back squats, my legs have grown a lot
When The Shadow speaks we Better Listen! Dorian is The Master!
At some point I realised, the more pullups I did, the better I became at doing pullups
He’s right.
Great advice from someone with credibility.
He's on point.
Hey its the background music in every youtube shorts breaking bad edit
Amazing advice
Thank you!
Exactly I change my split every 6 months
Great say by the Great Dorian 👍
NGL I thought this was a Fred Sanford short from the thumbnail.
You spoke correctly the masters got it correct man Arnie,Ronnie all of them man,!
Apparently Sonny Schmidt did the same routine all through his bodybuilding life!
Interesting to hear what top bodybuilders have to say.
Been saying this since I was younger. The stuff I see people do in the gym now is crazy 🤦🏾♂️🚮
The breathing in and out on a rep has always confused me, I hold my breath on every rep it's never been an issue
Bang on!
If You dont change exercises then exercises changes you because overuse and injuries. For example until my late 20s i do heavy wheighted chin ups. Today in my 40s i dont because my biceps tendon hurts and im feel real bad pain and a potencial injury to happen.
No, that’s not the point of what he is saying.
Yeah you need to change it up. Doing different exercises works different muscles out even in old age. I'm about to turn 30 and 10 years ago I could do heavy everything- weighted 1 handed pull ups x 40, 1 handed push ups x 4, bench press 400 lb + for 40 reps, etc. Now I can't. I work more on support muscles and being actually strong/endurance
How many Olympia's have you won pal?
The term “overuse” is a misnomer. You don’t get injured from the simple fact that you do the same exercise over and over.
What happens with “overuse” is people will do the exact same exercises without balancing it out with other movement which creates weakness/dysfunction and ultimately pain. The way you get around “overuse is to use a variety of movements which strengthen muscles around a joint in every range. This is not the same as simply doing the same movements over and over.
If your bicep tendon is hurting and you didn’t have an acute injury, then you most likely have a dysfunction around the elbow. A lot of time shortening your ROM leads to these sorts of issues or going too heavy for too long. I’m guessing if you upped the reps, controlled the weight, and pushed a lot of blood through your tendon it would heal. That and also strengthening the extensors of the forearm since those are often neglected
Actually Arnold was a big advocate of switching it up all the time.
Arnold also talks out of his ass
Arnold was also a notorious troll
Maybe the order of routine not the exercise
He did the same exercises all the time. He only changed the order of the movements and the rep ranges/sets depending of his offseason/competition season.
Arnold didn't change the workout he changed how he did the same workout
Ofc he is right, however it can be good to change how you do the exercises.
For example doing dumbbell presses 8-16 reps and for some weeks do 6-8 reps with heavy weight with short pause in the bottom.
Or barbell rows with longer excentic movement and sometimes go 20 reps sets.
That one reason is actually quite important though.
You build up adaptive resistance when u do the same exact weight and exercises. Muscle growth responds to changing the stimuli
He didn't say the same weight
Only change if you have a better option.
Doctor of BB Mr Yates wow what a couch to have envy those!
I know everything about this great bodybuilder&Iin reallityhis suggestion about bodybuilding is my guideline..m20 years ago when started trying...one time my muscles didn't grow..in one of best bodybuilding books I read from his suggestion...muscles aren't same factory sothat we want one result..sometimes we must leave and rest
Only thing i really change is my grip or positioning (close grip/wide grip pull ups etc...) other than that its just grinding the same exercises and telling your body that it NEEDS to get used to it and do more weight next time 😂

Saw the thumbnail and thought it was Red Fox, for a moment
Came to say the same.
Consistency guys!
Hes a genius
No they don't Arnold said himself he changes it up
He said a lot of things to keep his competitors confused. Up to this day we don't really know how he trained.
@@markalejandrox You're kidding, right? There is a whole documentary on Arnold training to Mr. Olympia... Plus the testimonials of several bodybuilders who trained with him. Yes, he spouted a ton of BS - some to confuse his opponents, some due to ignorance or because it sounded cool ("you have to shock the muscle").
@@Vintage_geek You can't trust what Arnold says. That much is known now by almost everyone.
He changes the order he does it in, he changes frequency and does more volume on the sauce.. he doesn't stop doing the bread and butter exercises that built his foundation
@@Sharkenite I haven't said otherwise... There is plenty of footage of Arnold's training back in the day and first-hand accounts from training partners, so saying we know nothing of how Arnold trained is not true.
Every big chest ever flat bench, incline, flys!
I rotate my accessories but my pull days will always start with weighted pull ups and my push days always start with weighted dips and squats for legs
I saw arnold saying the opposite of what he said
Your body does know what exercise it’s doing. It’s great to change up exercise
What a total contradictory statement. Damn brah
@@crooster1 no it wasn’t. Your body gets used to a particular exercise/movement. It knows the movement after a while that’s why it’s good to change it and hit the muscle from a different angle or using a different movement.
Or you could just keep the same movements but also include other movements as secondary exercises or as primary exercises on a second day? There’s no sense to throw out the highest stimulating exercises, just gotta make sure you’re strengthening the joint through a full range and strengthening all muscles around the joint to prevent dysfunction.
@@Soccasteve yeah, I mean you can just make some comment about whatever you want I guess. But he says don’t change your movements I’m saying change your movements.
@daytonasayswhat9333 yep let's listen to you instead of a legend shall we ?😂😂😂😂😂😂
This is so true
I get that I changed my arm workout a little last night . It didn't work them as well as my normal arm day .
Dorian was a machine guy. Training strictly his style requires a gym with a leg press, hack squat, leg extension machines, leg curl and seated one leg curl station. Hammer strength chest press,,cable crossover , tricep pushdown, Nautilus biceps machine,Smith machine, Nautilus pullover, cable row , nautilus pulldown , nautilus rear delt machine. Very very few gyms have all these, maybe none..
Only the incline bench was a staple free weight mass building move for him.
Alos he had access to the highest grade pharmaceuticals at the time un the UK,the best quality gear even by today's standards. Extremely expensive stuff.
Legal for private use back then.
Thays why one cannot train like Dorian. No gym has the equipment he used and the high grade gear isnt obtainable in most countries.
I personally see more results when I change up my routine, but I've also incorporated a sauna suite so maybe it's just a combo of fat melting with my gains
Yes Sir👍💯
Facts
Yeah I never saw the point or the need.
I grow better when it’s simple and the body responds in kind.
Like Chest n Triceps
Back n Biceps
Delts n Traps
Legs or Arms
Arms or Legs
Train 4-5x a week
Arnold actually says to switch it up
Factss
When you do the same exercise over and over your body gets more efficient at it
You recruit fewer and fewer fibers as your body has fine tuned the movement
Those are neuromuscular adaptations that occur with any repetitive movement
You may notice you make gains in that 1st few weeks- but you haven’t gotten stronger- simply more efficient- true strength gains take about 4-6 wks before they’re significantly measurable
I’m not saying you have to change up your routine- but new movements will absolutely recruit more muscle fibers and groups until you refine the movement
The problem w changing up your routine every month is that you’ve only just gotten to the strength gains- now you’re going onto something else
So I’d say changing up your workout isn’t bad- but you certainly don’t need to do so with this kind of frequency
You don't have to change a movement to maintain muscle fibre recruitment, that's the whole point progressive overload and deloads. Unless you're talking about synergistic muscle recruitment in different muscle groups, but that is not for hypertrophy training, that's more for sports specific training.
@@davidkymdell452 again- you will recruit fewer and fewer muscle fibers as you repeat the movement
Most weight training is ‘synergistic’
A bench press is synergistic, so is a squat
Even with an ‘isolated’ tricep ext you’re engaging the rear delts, teres minor rhomboids and mid traps
That’s a ‘synergistic’ movement
Nearly every functional movement is synergistic
And you can unequivocally gain muscle mass with any synergistic movement
what’s the point of a bench press or squat if not hypertrophy?
most pros find out quite early what gives them the best results and they stick with it....yeah in time you can change an exercise or 2, or change the order of the exercises, or the day...
I always think the same way. Básic compound movements. Like Arnold use to say. If not broken why fix it?
He is right in the context of not going with the trends.
However, I hope he isn't one of those ignorant guys who exclude the health factor.
By adding exercises that target muscles around a joint, you can improve mobility and prevent injuries.
Im addition, this can improve strength in other exercises.
But how will I shock the muscles? How will I let my muscles know that they aren’t going to know what to expect next?
Arnold said to change
Ahnohd shaks de massoh!
What should I do if I want medium built body
Dorian please repeat that again louder for the daft influencers at the back 💯
Actuall both ways work.Im NOT a bodybuilder,but a powerlifter.
In powerlifting,There’s Conjugate training and Linear progressive overload.
People have been Breaking records with both.
Instead of changing an exercise, how about adding 5lbs to the LIFT and GETTING THE REPS?!!!!
It's The Truth 🤷🏿♂️🤣!!
If what worked before suddenly stops working, it's because you stopped trying as hard. Progressive overload. Increasing weight, sets, reps, or TUT.
Exactly. Or you just need an extra rest day or two thrown in.
One lgegend cable legcurls is Not bullshit.
Unless you're natural in which case you will eventually plateau and need to change to maintain progression...
What documentary is this one? Haha
The era og pregnant bodybuilder
Chemistry helps a lot too.
He looks rough like most bodybuilders
Yea, someone who's success came out of a vial should not be teaching about working out.
