It's really unhelpful to call men cowardly for having normal human feelings. He could have the world's softest spine and still not deserve the abuse dished out to him.
The worst part is that if he didn't catch them, then they would have kept doing it. They only stopped and acted like they were in the wrong once caught
Story 1. Op's wife is a horrible human being. And she aborted her unborn baby to cover up her lies and cheating. It could have been her husband's baby. Selfish. Yesh he also needs to go full NC. Let her family take care of her. And getva therapist.
On the other hand he doesn't have to be trapped with a cheater. Besides wife repeadedly said to mother and OP (at least) that she didn't love Dave. Nothing about not having loveless animalistic sex or looking for someone better from the comfort of a cushy marriage, in the future.
Edit: Or maybe abortion happened precisely because Dave was the father and that relationship wasn't going to solidify for whatever reason. So she REALLY clumsily tried to re-frame it as a 'good thing' to the backup man, her husband, keeping paternity a mystery.

It’s so crazy to me when cheaters try to defend themselves and get the other person back by saying “it was just sex!” Or “It didn’t mean anything!” Or “I never loved them!”, because like… okay, so you threw away the entire relationship for, in your own words, nothing? Story 1: OP is a mouse and have a snake as a friend, the friend does not hide the fact that he is a snake. OP sends his wife, wich also is a mouse, to "console" his friend, when the inevitable happens he dares to be surprised? I mean, OP was fine while his friend was hurting others but then is discusted when he is in the receiving end.
