I purchased a bumper cover for my 2008 Honda Civic, did all the right things prior to painting the basecoat. I bought rattle cans from two different companies to match the car's paint (NH701M Grey metallic) and neither matched the original paint, it came out too grey. I ordered 4 rattle cans from another company and awaiting delivery, God knows how long that will take, and I'm hoping for a perfect match. I know I've spent more than it would have cost if I had it sprayed professionally, but I'm determined to do it myself and have it come out awesome. Thanks for listenting to me vent, and I do thank you for your videos, awaiting the basecoat video.

For primer I'd definitely suggest it. 2k and feather fill have to be sanded anyway and the point is to get it on. Spend the money on a little more expensive unit and I think it could honestly be a dedicated primer system ( not sealer) and just use a lvlp or hvlp for base and clear

It looks good enough to me, specially considering that high build primers are meant to be sanded down at least a little bit, I'd say water sand it with a 600, 800 and them 1000 grit and compare the smoothness.
Listen to this I seen in another video Harbor Freight sells a cup gun but it has a positive pressure cup that's adjustable all in one with a large tip for the spray tip and they're cheap

GOOD INFORMATION I have done a lot of research on electric paint guns and want to pass it on to you. I found a gun on Amazon for around 40 dollars It is a YATTICH YT-191. HVLP. THIS GUN COMES WITH 6 NOZZLES!!! 1.2 1.5 1.8 2.0 2.5 and 3.0. It aslo comes with a viscosity cup. I will be using this gun to paint a 23 t bucket roadster that I am building. I hope this information helps you

Another tip would be to use a cup gun but you put your primer in a plastic bag then you put it over the straw in the cup gun then you put a rubber band around it therefore you do not have to clean it you just throw away the empty plastic bag

That’s sort of an answer to my dilemma. I’d have to buy a larger compressor, hoses, guns, regulators,etc and I would only have 2 vehicles to paint. All of it would be sitting around collecting dust. They’re both older vehicles that could use a fresh coat of paint. This might just work better, because I could find other shit to paint afterwards.

I have the same paint sprayer. I used it last it to paint my fence. I cleaned, probably not good enough. I took it out, attempted to paint on something I was working on, it didn’t work. I cleaned thoroughly inside out but still doesn’t work. Motor makes the sound the nothing sprays out. What could possibly have gone wrong? Any suggestions? Or should I just buy a new one?

I have a Fuji q5 platinum...that thing is amazing for what it is. It can automise automotive paints very well and I managed to get barely any orange peel at all with speedokote clear coat. I have a video of it on my channel. It's a turbine sprayer as well. Definitely much more expensive. But yeah...

I love my Earlex 7005 and the pro 8 gun,sprays everything.And the turbines lay the paint so soft with hardly any overspray.If you have problems with orange peel,try reducing a little more and use 0.8 or 1.0 and up the pressure.
I would never try and even ask someone to spray my car or truck with any airless spray gun. I just think the paint quality would not live up to my expectations. I just don't think a great paint job will work. Now sure you might end up with a spray that will probably need a ton of wet sanding to get that finish to look great. I cant wait to see part 2 and see the outcome with this. I pray for anyone that attempts or does a job start to finish with a airless spray gun. Keep up the Great work and Content.
Yea we will all see. This has never been done before with base coat clear coat system. Buddy of mine James over at Monroe motorsports did it with tractors paint and it came out good
I did this with the electric gun and found out if you clean the gun when u get the car halfway done it won't spit at the end like that it's kind of unconventional but it did put a pretty good paint job on my pickup ,,,u know for a electric gun ,no one knew I used a electric gun ,,,there better than what I thought they were anyway ,,,great content dude keep on painting
When I first saw you pouring that body filler on my immediate thought was wtf is this dude doing...till I saw the close up of those golf ball dents all over the roof. Props to you for doing this. Idk if I would have the patience lol. Also with the spray gun, that primer went on pretty thick after the first coat. Do you think further spray pattern would have prevented some of those runs? Great job man!

Yea there good to honestly. These are super hard to clean I usually use them 2x then throw it in the trash go buy a new one. Now a days you spend more money on solvent trying to clean something vs just throwing it away 😂😂 GOOD OL INFLATION BUILD BACK BETTER.
Just dont get used to it too much :D ( Sometimes I am fed up, why house painters earn so much according that the do not work so precise as I in the miller machine/ lathe ... same with mason guys)
Slightly, I was playing around the whole time with distance and seeing how the paint laid. Normally i would grab a test panel but this entire car was basically the test panel 😂

Honestly you can't do shody body work and poor paint technique and then blame poor result on cheap paint paint sprayer etc what you should have done was taken a junk fender put a piece of tape down the middle and practiced on both side using different tips distances and pressure until you were happy with the results to address orange peel then paint the car

Aahhhh yes .. if you actually paid attention to the video you would notice I explained this his a Honda civic from 2007 with a rebuilt title and about 7000$ worth of hail damage . I WAS OPEN ABOUT HALF A** THE BODY WORK . I got it straighter than what it was and rolled with it. If this car doesn't meet your standards. Check out some of my other videos where I have gotten cars 99% straight and 3-5 coats of show clear.

I definitely wouldn't use this IMO for a good paint job. I would just get spray can to match and 2k spray can clear. Google these

I use the eBay 1.4 1.7 2.0 kit for PRIMER ONLY. base coat and clear coat I only use my spray guns for best finish possible

The benefit is much minimum waste and dust. You also don't have to pay for a compressor and lines

Rustoleum if thined out properly yes but be ready for runs if not sprayed in super light coats

Yea helps it flow out a little flatter. Makes it a little harder to sand IMO.. So make sure you get it on as flat as possible
"Bondo" is basically fiberglass resin (polyester) mixed with gypsum dust (talcum powder)

Honestly you can't do shody body work and poor paint technique and then blame poor result on cheap paint paint sprayer etc what you should have done was taken a junk fender put a piece of tape down the middle and practiced on both side using different tips distances and pressure until you were happy with the results to address orange peel then paint the car
Definitely was not the sprayers fault. And I was not trying to get this car perfect at all

Aahhhh yes .. if you actually paid attention to the video you would notice I explained this his a Honda civic from 2007 with a rebuilt title and about 7000$ worth of hail damage . I WAS OPEN ABOUT HALF A** THE BODY WORK . I got it straighter than what it was and rolled with it. If this car doesn't meet your standards. Check out some of my other videos where I have gotten cars 99% straight and 3-5 coats of show clear.

What ratios did you use for the primer? I might need to do this. Ive used Eastwood optiflow roll on for my last 3 cars. Its super rough and expensive

@@cryMoreLoL I'm always willing to learn, but at the end of the day bud, everyone does this trade slightly different, there's a million ways to the top of the mountain and I'm damn near there bud. I own my own body shop CASH all 9000 square feet of it. I have lots going for me and you can't argue that with 0 paint both I get some decant jobs man.
