The Kenny Everett Naughty Joke Box part 1 - Restored

  • What's all this then? Well its various stand up acts interspersed with Kenny Everett.
Programme featuring Kenny Everett who introduces comedians Lennie Bennett, Fogwell Flax, John Junkin, Pat Mooney, William Rushton, Barry Cryer and Leslie Crowther (who was cut from the LP)
The BFI page states it's from 1981, yet that cant be, Kenny mentions his BBC work and a snatch of the theme is played at the end of the LP's. Even all the copyright states 1984, so yeah even the BFI makes mistakes!
The video has been restored and 2 different Tapes have been used in sections to create the entire presentation.
In this Special Edition Ive combined the STEREO LP with the mono LO-Fi and created the first stereo mix this video has had.
The stereo album is pretty poorly cut and mastered, the stereo is pretty much faked, but its a mile better than the hissy lo-fi ST of the VHS tape, The LP goes for 44 mins and the Video some 1:19:00 so some of the Video is still in Lo-fi (but restored) Ive spent a while cutting in all the bits i could from the album.
Any thoughts, I DO spend quite a while restoring this stuff and when I see bugger all comments It makes me want to stop. Think of me as a comment driven restoration machine.

Cerone, appeared on early shows, as the theme for this was one of his tracks from "Supernature" - this is where it was first heard, then brought.

+chap666ish Legend, as an aspiring broadcaster his whackiness lives on.. cos we all want the same whacky liveliness in our shows as broadcasters, any 20 something broadcaster says anything different they're lying

Barry Cryer.... a top funny guy. Saw him live doing his "Butterfly Brain" tour... he could show many a younger stand up comic many a thing about the craft.

Watching this video for the first time, I was eight years old. (far too young really).
It must be in part 2, but there was a sketch that was so fucking funny, it had me in stiches and proceeded to tell as many people as possible.
Barry Cryer is sitting in a chair coughing, Kenny comes up to him holding an aeresol can and asks: "Have you got a cough"? Barry nods while coughing, then Kenny hold the can to the camera and says: "Then try new Far Cough.... Sends your cough far away".
    "Far Cough".

Thanks for going to the efforts you did putting what you could together, whatever people say about Kenny Everetts unfortunate personal life events his quirky methods influenced our understanding of visual and audio technology by miles thanks to the overtime and effort he put into his work which i bet will always be understood and appreciated by the industry pro's.

Interesting from an historical perspective. Kenny was funding two lifestyles at this time, the farm his wife maintained, their flat in London and the London home where he'd shacked up with "the Russians" As well as being attended by mainly tory-supporting celebs, the constant references to this being "on cassette" smacks of desperation and not a little naivety. The nude strippers lounging about on stage seem to hint at an idea that this would be top shelf stuff. The jokes are pretty bloody awful with the exception of John Junkin. The sketches were unnecessary and awful. This is only slightly better shot cash-in, politically dubious garbage. However, I thoroughly enjoyed it. If only sell-through dvds of modern stand-ups were not so slivkbut as flawed as this.
