How would the components hold up against lacquer?
WOW- thanks for this review.
I started painting my garage last weekend ( two walls stucco, one dry wall) old style- brush and roller. I got the dry wall done and about 4 feet down the side walls. Took forever painting around water heater, etc.
Saw your video and bought this at HD. I went with the VSP as you suggested and glad I did. It was such a pleasure to use- finished off the walls and interior of the garage door in about 2 1/2 hours. I will never paint with a roller again. This thing is a workhorse, easy to use. Clean up takes a while but well worth it. On top of that it makes this really cool sound which reminds you of the toy machine guns we played with as kids! Great tool, worth every penny.
THANK YOU!!!!!!!
I’ve been looking at these myself. Great perspective my man. Love the comparisons and input.
LOVE LOVE LOVE how candid you are about user error
You do a great job providing valuable details without all the meaningless fluff . I wish more you tubers would follow your lead. Keep up the good work.
It sucks when people try and add some kind of plot or try and tart it up. This dude is 100% focused on the product he's reviewing which is very refreshing.
Great review! Concise, to the point, and you actually used the product before giving your opinion. I purchased the VSP model about 4 months ago, and I love it!!
This is exactly the type of review I was looking for before buying one. Thank you!
To anyone reading, trust me and opt for the graco magnum project plus. It’s like $50 more but comes with real tips you can actually change, and you don’t get the weird pulsating from the trucoat 360. This sprayer leaves terrible tiger stripes due to the pulsating, even with a correct overlap. The 4 inch tip on low still sprays too much and causes drip. If you look behind him when the light hits the cabinets, you can still see the tiger stripes. Additionally, because only two tips are compatible, you can only spray paint. Forget about spraying poly or any type of water based coatings. The tips do not allow for precise spraying. It’s decent for small jobs or fences I must admit. If you’re looking for a pro look, you won’t get it with this.
I have experienced all those things with this sprayer. I tend to keep a mini foam roller in my back pocket for drips. I found the pulsing happens only when there's about 30% of paint left. I have my next pour loaded with a a second lid and cage I bought separate. I would have also spent the extra money, I'd I had known, but this is the one I have now.
I was wondering about that as well! I’m all but sold on this sprayer but that pulsating bugged me. I guess at this price you run into issues like that. Appreciate the post 👍🏻
Can i paint poly with it?
@@jorgeivancepedarey6314 I’m sure you could but it won’t turn out great. You need a fine tip to spray poly and this particular sprayer doesn’t allow you to use the normal Graco tips. Rather, you’re stuck with what you have in the box
What about the corded ultra?
Just became a recent homeowner and the wife decided she wanted everything painted.. And now I know how to accomplish that and still keep my weekends. Thanks for the review and breakdown!
I’ve been using the Graco VSP 360 for a slew of projects. Once being my basement remodel and did ALL the trim, talking several hundred feet and all the wainscoting walls. Finish came out like “Buda”. Easy to use and clean. I’m ultra picky on my finishes and this sprayer is awesome. And it finishes in one coat with a good quality paint. Don’t buy cheap paint, especially if you are spraying. I like Sherwin Williams higher end for spraying (and brushing). Proper prep is key to painting, take your time with it.
Hope you are still around to receive the praise you deserve for putting this together. I have always been intimidated at the thought of using a sprayer, but after a couple of videos have built up enough courage. I have found a gently used one of these, so I will put it to the test soon. I am a 'Hobby Handyman' and have turned down most painting jobs that would be ideal for the scale that you recommend with the help of this sprayer. I really only need one job for this to pay for itself. Thanks for your help!
Thanks for the review . I just the vsp about 3 days ago and can't wait to try it out.
I got the Graco Truecoat 360 VSP and I painted my bedroom walls with it last night (a matte ultra-pure white). After painting the entire room I ended up going through 2 1/2 gallons of paint and noticed how HEAVY the sprayer gets after using it to paint an entire room. Right from the start, I could see the spray pattern sort of ribboning (good coat in the middle but the edges were very light). I used the method of spraying and on the next pass covering about 50% of my last pass to try and ensure the proper coverage. This morning I can see a few areas that I need to go over again really quick. I had previously bought the Graco X5 and took it back (unused) to get something smaller since I do not paint very often, and then regretted that decision. While painting an entire room this paint sprayer goes through the paint! I had the pressure at 1500 psi (setting of 10 spraying a one-coat paint) and I had to refill the canister really often. So much that I was saying to myself I really do not like this sprayer. It got messy, paint got all over the gun, floor, etc. It also did heat up, however, did not stop spraying. If you are looking to paint smaller projects then this sprayer would be fine, however, if you are looking to paint large areas like a room I would opt for the Graco X5 as you can use it with 1 or 5-gallon canisters if need be and the only weight you need to hold is the spray gun, hose, and whatever tip or extension you are using. It would have been great to not need to constantly refill the canister. All that being said this was my first time ever using a paint sprayer and I am sure there are ways I could have extended the amount of paint I was using with a different setting, making sure my distance to the walls was equal as possible, technique, etc. I will be taking my sprayer back to Home Depot and if I need to get another sprayer I will most definitely get the X5. I hope this helps someone out there with their decision and of course this was just my personal experience with the product. I am not saying the sprayer is bad and honestly, for the money ($265), it is not priced all that bad. The X5 was $329 and IMO is worth the extra money.
I work in remodeling I painted 400 lineal foot of shoe molding in 15 minutes took 10 minutes to clean out the gun 5 minutes to set it up the shoe molding look like furniture. I would recommend this to anyone some people are intimidated by it it was pretty easy to figure out. I recommend it highly to anyone who wants to pre-paint in any material.
Ron Young thanks because I be taking long painting and cutting at the same time
@@Wuwuu72 It will be the best money you ever spent. Just caulk the top of shoe molding. coat of paint over it 15 minutes later.
Thanks for the honest video Travis! I hate painting too and I have been looking at airless sprayers as well, but there are sooooo many choices out there, I was a bit leery and hesitant to make a choice. I don't do a lot of painting, but when I do it is usually a commissioned build for a customer and I want it to look great.
Your delivery of the information is so much more authentic and trusted than many other videos out there , so again I thank you for the info. Have a great day! *Kevin*
I bought a wagner power painter about 20 years ago. Used it once and it ATE the paint and had little adjustment. I cleaned it up and put it away....still have it and it looks new. :) Recently the painters painted my house and they were using a Graco sprayer as well. Theirs was a larger one that accepts 5 gal buckets. The spray job was beautiful and learned how they sprayed two coats of Kilz over the wood and sanded between each one and the result is fantastic. This also convinced me to get a graco.
Great video, very inforative. I really like the fact that you covered the different models of the sprayer. I will be adding the Graco Trucote 360 to my future tool purchase list.
Great informative video! I’ve been considering one of these sprayers and you’ve hit the mark on pros & cons my wife & I are currently doing a mobile home remodel and I’m going to have rent a sprayer for different parts of the remodel which would mean several rental, but with the sprayer you’ve recommended it would be a one time purchase, and we would have it at our convenience.
Thank You
Well Done 👍
Thanks Chuck
Love mine, its been through 3 big reno projects and still going strong.
Excellent explanation. I’m going to get the middle one. I needed to paint my entire garage. Hopefully it’s easy to use. Thank you.
I used to use one from Graco that sat on a 1 gallon or 5 gallon bucket. It was the best sprayer I had ever put my hands on, but it was also bulky. It also wasn't the easiest to clean.
It is good to see someone else liking Graco brand products.
Great Video!!! To the point and informative. I was thinking about getting one now I’m going to purchase this weekend
Thanks for the review , I've been thinking about one of those for painting trim and doors and other projects around the house , great channel and videos ,👍👌
Great review! Simple, short, honest, and to the point. I know which model to get now. Thanks. You’ve got a new subscriber.
Love your instructions... you are so well articulated. I love watching you :)
That is one of the best reviews I’ve seen on CZcams, yet. It was well thought out and covered all the questions I had. A+ and thanks for posting.
Really enjoy these reviews...useful....keep’em coming when you get the chance!...thanks!...
Your review is on point! I rarely comment but I just had to. You covered it all and super clear. Others need to take note, well done!
Been going back and forth on this. You just pushed me over the edge. I’m in. Ordering one very soon.
Thanks for all the pros and cons
Same. I have a Titan Control Max 1900 but am really tired of lugging it around for smaller jobs. Also loading half a gallon of paint just to spray a few cabinet doors is annoying as heck. I have been leaning towards a handheld for a bit, but this video pushed me to make the purchase. I had originally put the lower end one in my amazon cart thinking I had one with multiple speeds but after watching this I switched it up to the DS.
Don’t do it. It’s not worth it. Get the magnum project plus!!
You'll be sorry
Don't do it, I'm telling you their junk
I stained my entire backyard fence. Took me like 2 hours. total. amazing product
Good review, Thx! and along with the portable paint booth idea, saves clean up and keeps area cleaner
That's a great review...covered a lot of questions I have about a painter sprayer....Thanks.
Thanks. Bought this cause of your review. Painting my cabinets tomorrow 🤞🏽
Thanks for the info as I am looking at an airless sprayer!
Great video! You should do a complete how to spray video? It is probably one of the most intimidating things I need to do for my shop.
The good thing about that sprayer as I can see is if it starts to clog just turn the tip round and spray it out. Then turn it back the right way and your good to go. As for clean up time it's got to be quicker than cleaning rollers and brushes.
I try to keep my brushes and rollers.
As they wear in nicely over time. But the cleaning process could take 30mins or more depending on what paint I've used.
The tip is to always take care of your tools no matter what they are and you'll have no problems. 👍
Had one of these when i worked for a painting company, they were a godsend for painting downpipes and sofits.
Do you know if it's truly airless tho? I can not stand the air powered ones that throw more paint on the floor than my object.
@@Coder-zx4nb I never had issues with that, i would usually do a test spray on a bit of scrap wood just to be sure the paint was behaving how i wanted it to though as each different brand of paint does need to be kind of dialed in.
@@Coder-zx4nb turn down your pressure and use a low pressure tip.
Excellent video - well organized, clear, informative. Thanks!
I have the VSP version that I like using for the same reasons. One step I add to the prep is to use a filter sock to strain the paint of solid material. I have an extra paint can with the filter sock inserted and draped over the top then pour in the mixed paint. It is an extra step, but I believe helps.
Great video.I just purchased the Graco 360 VSP.I will be painting my wrought iron fence for my pool.Excited to try.Ty for the info on turning upside down to prime
Nice review. Thanks for the detailed explanations!
So this is super fantastic and helpful! Bought the one you suggested. Home depot will price match all competitors so i showed them the amazon price and got mine for 40$ less than HD listed it. In case anyone else was looking into it.
Clean, Cut, Precise.
Thanks brother.
Thanks for your video.
I’m from Brazil, I will buy this product.
Your explanation is perfect.
Great review bud! Nice work your shop looks great as well!
Thanks !! I have been looking at these and was on the fence between DS and VSP - decision made.
Which did you choose and was it the right choice?
Extremely useful information and well presented. Many thanks from the UK.
The Wife just got me a 360 DS for christmas.. this is a great video/review. cant wait to try it out. subscribed and enjoying your reviews!
Dude. You nailed this review. Subscribed.
You communication is super clear. Great. Thanks.
I just bought one in a hurry without checking out any reviews. It took me a bit to get used to it but after that it was an absolute delight and my customer loved how the cabinets turned out!
This was exactly what I was looking for. Awesome review man. I haven’t opened the ds yet because I was debating the upgrade to the variable speed. I’ll be returning the ds. Thanks for your help
I just love your videos! You are straight forward and honest. I like how you analyze things. You look at things the same way i do. You make me feel like i can do it too!
So, how do these airless spayers compair to and aired sprayer, since a lot of us already have air compressors?
Please keep up the good work!
Thanks,
Mark Lee
I can’t say I have much experience with Aired sprayers for comparison. From what I gather, you need dry air so there is additional “stuff” you would need besides the compressor. I’m sure they work great, but for me a corded version is quicker and easier
I purchased the 360 variable speed unit recently and sprayed some cabinet doors and they look great. Cleanup of the gun takes some time but goes faster if you use the proper solvent. Took me awhile to figure out denatured alcohol works great for BIN primer. Can’t wait to try it with oil based paint on my interior doors, which are a real time consuming painful job with a brush.
Very informative. Will be checking this out. Thank you sir.
Used mine for first time today. Great paint job.
Great review, thanks for taking the time to post. cheers
Great video this is just what I need. Perfect
Just getting into using a paint sprayer, this is great advice. Love the Rogue sticker on your tool chest!
Chairman of the Board haha well played sir !
As a paint manager, at a box store, I always wish you primed your builds haha. Your points are mostly true about the sprayers. Some people can actually find great value in a Wagner Control Pro 130 if they want the feel of a professional style spray gun and it holds about 1.5 gallons of paint. So no dealing with bladders and around the same price point. I think that's eventually the one I'm going to buy just for hobby work.
Thanks. Really valuable review. As always keep up the good work.
I bought this from Walmart in the Fall. Used it to paint my entire upstairs. Overspray was a little rough, but if you carefully cover things you don't want paint on, you're fine. I love it.
I just purchased the graco 360 can't wait to get to use it..
Thanks for comparing the models with each other that’s really helpful
I’ve been on the edge of wanting to purchasing one as I would consider myself a mid-level diy-er. But Hate painting. This just convinced me and gave me a good idea what to look for! Good awesome review! Not sure if u have one already, but maybe a first-timers tutorial 😬
Hey Travis...
Nice review. ...I'm looking into getting the one you recommend.
Thanks!
Another awesome review! Nice job!
I bought one of those yesterday and was able to paint the whole outside of a house in about 5 hours, it was a great sprayer and the overspray was really easy to control
Heck yeah!
I've used Graco airless painter's for years both professionally and personal use. Great quality products and just work! Go VOLS dude!!!!
Excellent review and references. Thank you very much
Great video. Very helpful in selecting what to purchase.
I used the Graco VSP to paint a double wide garage door with semi-gloss water based paint. Each coat of paint took about 2 minutes - very fast. There is a 4" wide spray nozzle and a 12" wide spray nozzle. I gave the door 3 coats. The only problem I saw was the gloss varied a bit across the door as the light reflected off at an angle. The sprayer pulses out the paint so the flow is not continuous. I think you have to be careful to get enough overlap between the pulses of paint.
The best explanation of the difference among the Graco handheld paint sprayers I've found. I want to use it to apply fine finishes on woodworking projects so I sprung for the Ultramax. Still waiting on delivery.
My $2900 Graco Airless 695 sprayer even gets a clog in the tip once in a while. your almost always going to have that. Good review I would recommend an airless paint sprayer to anyone.
Graco has made some good improvements to their handheld sprayers. However, you need to ask how many gallons will go through the pump before it needs to be rebuilt, which will be at your cost. Also, they may not work after 100 or more gallons.
If you buy paint/finishes at a dedicated paint store and want a better price for one of these sprayers, ask if they will cut the price down. Big box stores or Amazon will not negotiate with you. The paint store managers and sales people may cut the price down close to their cost just to keep your business. Either way, it's worth asking.
My knowledge comes from working for Sherwin Williams eight years as a sales associate. Personally, if you have the money to afford one I would recommend a Graco HVLP sprayer.
You're correct 💯
Great review and really helpful for me! I’ll either buy this model or the Homeright. I’m only painting small furniture projects.
Nicely done review. Thanks!
Nice summary of these sprayers, thanks for posting. FYI you can buy the 42 oz flexliner cage and cups separately and use with your sprayer. I did this with my Ultra Cordless model (which came with the 32 oz liners and cage).
I saw that! It’s linked below for folks to find
Awesome review thank you. I'm a home renovation specialist already have hvlp for cabinet's and airless for everything else but I'm looking for something for soffits looks like the 360 is a good fit for me.
Thank you for a good review! Looking at a 'touch up' option for large commercial jobs so I don't have to setup my bigger rig again.
Good review. The clogs are coming from large clumps of dried paint that get stuck in the tip. For clogs use a paint strainer bag and strain your paint as you pour it into the paint bag . They are usually less than $3 from your paint store or hardware store. I use these bags on my airless pump.
they showed the filtering in the video.
This video was spot on!!!! Thank you.. 👍🏼
I have a VSP. Bought it because I was staining trellises and I did the first one with a brush. Took me 2 hours to stain one side of one trellis. After getting the VSP, I finished all 6 in 4 hours, including clean up and breaks. One thing to mention... If you're doing a project where there's going to be a lot of overspray, like a trellis, you use a lot more paint/stain than doing it with a brush. It was worth the trade off for the time I saved. Also, get the Graco storage fluid. It's very easy to use and keeps the pump lubed and clean.
I used your directions, in the purchase of a spray gun, it was very useful.
I've had mine for a year, now. It makes me SO MUCH money.
MONEY AIN'T EVERYTHING
THAT GRACO did my whole house renovations!!!!!!
Did it overheat?
@@davidfishferrell nope...still going strong. Just finished painting my garage and garage cabinets last week
Thanks. I am thinking of painting my house maybe I'll buy it.
@@ZAZ3297 i suppose it could...make sure to not over heat it...when changing out paint i would let it rest every 30 min. this was 1 of my best tools i ever bought i assure you
This is the best cheap paint sprayer I have ever used. I watched the video of how to operate and clean several times. The cleanup if done properly and thoroughly makes all the difference in repeated use. If done improperly (as with any paint sprayer) you will have continuous problems. Reminder the spray tips are only rated for so many hours of usage, refer to your operation manual.
I just bought the Fuji Semi Pro 2, but haven’t used it yet. I’m really looking forward to using it though.
Great review, I think you convinced me to go with the Graco. Pretty much the only thing I spray is poly, and mostly water based, any problem spraying that ? Thanks for the review.
Thanks for the awesome review. I've been looking for the differences in Graco models, before making my purchase, and you hit the nail on the head to explain. What a great video!

Thank you , I was also intimidated by this. My best friend bought this and he never used it so he gave it to me which is the TrueCoat 360 VSP Electric TrueAirless Sprayer 17D889. This week I will try this in my garage. Thank you again.
How did it go?

How do you like it? My wife refinished furniture I’ve been seeing mixed reviews
@@thestayathomedad3481 I love it. I to use my for painting furniture too. I would say to get a painting tent or make a painting booth. I wouldn't use it indoors.
When I built out and finished my basement I used one of these sprayers. Works great.
So I've been winding and looking at reviews to see if anybody's used it to paint interior walls. Is that what you did is your basement walls? If so how big of walls and how well did it do? Thanks
@@christianmonet1297 yes I used it to paint interior walls and doors. Works great
Bought one of these a few years ago. Have sprayed every cabinet in my house along with multiple other projects. Any issues I ever had were due to user error, mostly due to over saturating an area and getting runs.
Can you spray polycrylic with these 360 series?
I have a love hate relationship with Google, I searched paint sprayers once last week and then just thought about it this morning then up pops your video. Looks like I'm getting a sprayer in 2 days!
