+Daniel Hunter Not necessarily true. You can show the deck so it looks unshuffled. Then just do a series of perfect table faros which put the deck back in order. I have seen it done before.
+mediaguardian but something that risky isn't worth it in my opinion. When I do this trick, I spread the A, 2, 3, 4, and 5 throughout the deck before the trick and say that you will be finding them. Then go through and pull them out to begin. Then I do some false cuts before spreading the cards out to "mix" the A, 2, 3, 4, and 5 in. Then I do the routine as normal and people are content thinking that they're mixed up to start with.
A performer of Ricky Jays caliber could stack the deck right in front of you and you wouldn't even notice he did it. I doubt he would result to 'camera edits'.
Trust me. It is impossible to stack the deck the way he did this trick right in front of you. Anyone, even penn and teller, would tell you that he had to ring in a cooler(bring out a new deck)
Even though some of the card manipulation trick is revealed here, you still have to be gifted enough to master such an art. There are a handful of people born who have the talent to perform this kind of trick. Ricky is the master, born with an innate talent to perform card tricks and make it look easy. However, if you watch Ricky Jay do it, he shuffles the cards by cutting and fanning the two halves together as well. He's not just false shuffling.
Ricky Jay shuffles a lot during this routine, its hard to follow, even when you know what he's doing.
If you watch the Ricky Jay video closely, there's an obvious cut between the genuine shuffling sequence and the start of the trick.
