Mac - Google Drive File Stream can't be installed on this disk - Error / Fix

Google Drive File Stream of only for MacOS El Capitan and above. If you are using older versions of MacOS you will not be able to install the software.
Mac: El Capitan (10.11) and up

any other reasons, besides updating software, that this could happen? I've got a newly formatted imac with OS X 10.10.5 (14F2511) and I'm getting the same result.

I think it's just a bug. I also had it on a newly formatted Mac.

So... when you format a drive, your computer installs OS X 10.10 which is not compatible with newer versions of google file stream. You will have to hace OS X 10.12 and up to run google stream. Hope that helps.

my mac is update but it is still saying that, I think it is incorrect

I backed everything up on my 2015 then factory resetted it... then it let me update to the newest version

Hi, thank you for the video but you never provided any solution or workaround. I would like to add that there is an older version if you're using older versions of MacOS called Google Drive File Stream. This should work just fine. Hope this is helpful. N
