Hugh Jackman was truly dedicated to this role because not many actors are willing to take on an atomic bomb blast. Most have their stunt double do it.
Good thing his healing factor working good since he took that trip to Chernobyl during production of the first Xmen movie to mutate his DNA, heard production was worried he was getting rusty with all that molten iron they pumped into his skeleton in Origins, method acting at its finest
@@andresamaya6187 Completely brilliant!

I'll never give a damn that Jackman was "too tall" to be Wolverine. He nailed it every time he got on screen.
Because is more about the actor performance than the physical appearance, just like Tom cruise's Jack Reacher.
Hope in the mcu they would find an actor who could be bulkier but shorter like the comics. At least not under 5 foot 3. Just 5'5 or 5'7 I'll be fine with that and as long as he is not over 6 foot tall.

It downplays the affect of an atomic bomb... a person wouldn't be just badly burnt, they'd be vaporised. All that would be left of Logan would be his adamantium skeleton. His healing power does nothing to prevent being wounded or injured, it just allows him to heal very fast.

It has been stated about how impressive his healing factor is but not only is it healing his burnt skin but his body is also healing internally trying to get rid of the radiation he was exposed to. This had to be really hard his healing factor to heal from and I doubt before that he had felt that much pain before. Up to that point I can guarantee he’s been stabbed and shot mostly because of all the wars and pretty sure the occasional bar fight probably
the true state of his healing factor is shown by him living with poison in his body. The implanted adamantium is forcing his healing factor to work 24/7/365 for over 200 years. Wolverine could have lived to the year 2298 and reach easy the age of 466 years.
Plus it healed his hair
Even his hair healed.
Not just the internal radiation, the super heated air would've fried his lungs and airways from the inside out as well.
@@billrich9722 Yet somehow in Logan his hair is different. I wonder who he found to be his barber.
We're not going to talk about how he stared directly into a nuclear detonation and still has working retinas?
IKR!!!
.. he was squinting
This. People don't understand how horrifying the different types of radiation that come from nukes really are. He's close enough to be bombarded by alpha waves. That would destroy his eyes without glasses or a windshield.

he asian bro
Amazing how his hair and beard grew back to the precise length that it was prior to being burned off by a nuclear bomb.
I mean how does he give a shape that beard if it grews back every time?
It makes just as much sense as his pants staying intact. Or the fact that his body produced all of that new tissue out of nothing. He didn't even lose any weight or anything. Healing factor in the comics never makes any sense.
@@mitromney The air has carbon and nitrogen so its not "out of nothing" also maybe his body stores energy and nutrients more densely than a normal human.
As for his hair growing back to the same length, he was kept in a POW camp so he didn't get a shave. Meaning his hair was at it's fullest length.
Your genes can control your maximum hair length. Makes sense to me with all that accounted for.
@Eric Hockemeyer 🤓🤓🤓 grow up
@@mitromneyactually in one comic Logan will lose everything and from a drop of blood he grows into Wolverine again. (Comic fact)
In the comics Wolverine eventually loses his healing factor, and Mr. Fantastic is examining him, and discovers that his bones are irradiated, and without his healing powers the radiation will probably kill him soon. He asks Logan how that could have happened, and Logan remembers being in Japan when the atomic bomb was dropped.
That explains a lot
Wouldn't that mean that Logan is a walking Orphaned Source?
That makes no sense. 1 His bones are coated with metal. 2 If his bones were irradiated and couldn't regenerate how did the rest of him do so? Maybe the comic author meant radiated (as in contains radioactive material) but it still makes no sense because the rest of him would be too.
These comic book authors want sci fi so bad, but don't even do the barest amount of research.

For anyone with the stomach, look up “Barefoot Gen”. It’s an animated movie that shows the affect of the atomic bomb both before, during and after it exploded. No one knew the A bomb existed, that’s what added to the casualties because in actuality, no one really ran
America dropped leaflets over the cities saying something to the effect of we have the most destructive weapon known to man and will use it on this city, the second one warned them even further by saying if you dont believe us ask about Hiroshima, they even invited some Japanese leaders to witness the testing of it
I believe this is the second one, therefore they knew
At Hiroshima, no one knew the A-Bomb existed. Nagasaki was only 3 days later. Several other flaws: 1) The atomic bombs were dropped from 10,000 meters and exploded about 1,600 meters. This gave the B-29s 40-45 seconds to get away from the blast & shockwave. 2) As depicted, there were only 2-3 B29s in each raid - too few to set off the air raid sirens.
Logan and Victor were the strongest soldiers due to their mutation so its a possibility they knew about the Manhattan project

Nah, it wasn't much safer inside the hole than outside. If Logan could survive in that hole, he could have survived out in the open.
The fact that Yashida survived is way more impressive. Between the intense heat, the radiation and the sheer pressure of the explosion, there was no sheet of metal that could have protected him.

360 means he has the same character as this scene, I think you meant 180 lol
lmao that ending ruined an otherwise rlly good movie
I never noticed this until know, but the fact that Ichiro Yashida released the prisoners before the bomb hit, showed that while war is a terrible thing, there are those that care for their enemies
That detail is a denial of history. The Japanese were unrelenting savages when it came to their treatment of prisoners of war. They showed no mercy, no humanity.
Well, up until the end of WW1, people would actually try to prevent as many casualties as possible. Many soldiers even had high respect for their more notorious enemies.
For example, The Red Baron, after being shot down, was buried with all of the military honors imaginable by the British, his *_enemies_* due to how much they respected him as a soldier.

Pretty unrealistic scene lol..
The dude would have been instantly blinded observing the flash.
The dudes clothing would then ignite and he would recieve third degree burns instantly on whichever side was facing the blast.
If we assume that he was shielding from the initial flash, hiding in that pit would only have saved him for a few hours to a couple days.. it was completely open to the air and that entire area was saturated with radiation.
Zero percent chance of surviving that in his position.
If the pit was sealed and they were able to close it before the blast wave reached them, and then somehow stayed down there for a minimum of a couple weeks without dying from dehydration, and then they somehow had full breathing apparatus and enough filters to last them the long trek out of there..
Then MAYBE

@@MusicismoreImportant Hmm. It might very well happen within our lifetimes, to be honest.
More like the worst. It takes 24 seconds for the blast to hit. Based on the actual Hiroshima blast propagation, that would put him maybe 9 kilometers away from ground zero. At that distance there was almost no damage except the occasional cracked window. And what is the rolling wave of fire supposed to be? The thermal pulse travels at the speed of light. The blast is only a wave front of compressed air
Credits to the camera man for also surviving that legendary explosion

cant imagine the pain he endured in the entire of his life.
How long do you think Logan waited down in the pit until feeling it was safe?
probably 30+ minutes, any longer and yoshida would probably be at risk of having significant radiation poisoning. The worst of the fallout tends to happen around the 2 hour mark once things have had a chance to cool down and fall out of the atmosphere. They can't leave right away because the air above is still too hot, need to let the heat dissipate first

That atomic blast after effect on wolverine was so realistic. Kudos to the makeup artist.
I love how his hair regrows to the exact length it was before it burned off
So basically, what you're saying is realistically, he should be bald, right?
Its almost like his entire body has a memory of some kind that preserves its last state. If damaged, the healing factor restores his body to its previous state.
Even more amazing was the apparently fireproof pants.
Hulks and Wolverines pants are made of the same fabric
RIP pilots of those B52s........I'm pretty sure they'd have been a damn heap higher when they dropped the bomb!
Wolverine so strong even his hair healed 😂
*Inaccuracies with this scene:*
-panic at the sight of two B-29s (hundreds yes, but pairs of B-29s flying reconnaissance missions at become so routine by that point that the Japanese usually didn't sending fighter sorties up to shoot them down
-air raid sirens during the attack on Hiroshima and Nagasaki (none were sounded for the reason I just mentioned)
-the Japanese freeing their prisoners (POWs were regarded as completely expendable and murdering them on flimsy or even non-existent excuses was a common occurrence)
-Yashida not being blinded (likely permanently) from staring directly at the flash
-Seppuku usually involves two people, one is the guy disemboweling himself, the other chops his head off so that he dies quickly
*I know it's an X-Men movie but I figured everyone should know*
I like the fact that he actually feels the pain even though he regenerates.
Such an epic moment only for the japanese guy to try to bleed Wolverine out decades later😅
I think in the comics Wolverine explains that it’s not the explosion that hurts, it’s healing after it.
He says heat from the explosion burns so quickly, that his nerves don’t register the pain. However when his nerves regenerate, he feels every bit of pain until he’s fully healed.
I remember seeing this film in the theaters and, then as now, I'm still amazed at how he even grew his hair and beard back when he healed.

It's crazy how this actually happened on Earth in a time not too long ago. I can't imagine the terror people went through in those few moments.
Well in all honesty, I doubt there was much terror. The world didn't know what an atomic bomb was. It wasn't something you saw coming and understood what was happening. It was over before "terror" had a chance to be felt. Although, ignoring reality for a moment, I am stuck to wonder in the aftermath what would be more terrifying. The devastation or the indestructible skeleton they found in the rubble. Lol

You know why? Because of adamantium poisoning, his healing factor had to fight with poison so it never could work on 100% ,without constant adamantium poisoning his healing factor could work at 100% here and make Wolverine nearly immortal.
Love how he knew that exact bomb
A nice little cinematic touch they gave this scene is that for a split second before the atomic explosion, you see the bomb itself "explode." The bomb dropped on Nagasaki was was the Plutonium core, implosion device. Surrounding the plutonium core and other layers of the bomb were traditional explosives that were timed to detonate all at once so that the resulting pressure would evenly condense the plutonium to supercriticallity and then explode on a nuclear level. In real life you wouldn't see the traditional explosives go off because the nuclear reaction happens in billionths of a second. Just like the B-29 wouldn't actually be flying that low, otherwise it wouldn't be able to fly away from the blast in time. But for the over all effect, it is quite nice.
There is absolutely no way that Logan would’ve known the atomic bomb was coming
The mission was so secret even some of the people who built the bomb didn’t even know what they were building

this escene is an art work
The Japanese had no idea this was coming. They didnt run in fear screaming, “flee the Atomic bomb!” And killing themselves. This is just silly.
Things that dont make sense about this scene:
1:Why would Logan save a random IJA soldier? These guys were arguably as bad as the Nazis in regards to civilians and prisoners.
2:How did he know about the B-29? It was a secret project (weird fact , it was more expensive than the manhattan project)
3:The officer used a mass produced katana to break the lock with one cut. These swords were not hand made by a expert japanese swordsmith. They weren't sharp like that. ( I actually own one of the mass produced swords )
4:How was the blast hot enough to burn off his skin but not set his pants on fire?
5:It seemed he was aware that they were going to drop a nuke. The nuke was top secret as well as its targets.
6:Logan was at D-Day in the film and comic canon. How did he end up in Asia so fast?
7:That B29 is flying awfully low to deliver a nuke.
8:The initial flash from the nuke would have blinded anyone looking at it from that range
Things that piss me off about this movie:
They lied to the director and turned his rater R movie into a PG13 mess to make more money
Part of studio interference was turning Yoshida into a CGI robot silver samurai fight
This movie felt like Joss Wheadon's Justice League, you can clearly see the director's vision clashed with the studio's wishes and we got a frankenstein film as a result
This is the same director as Logan. If they let the director have his way with this movie this flick would have ended up very very good and a hit but slightly worse than logan (the screenplay for logan is up there with the dark knight, its really hard to top)
the same question why logan is able to regenerate
The Japanese were developing crazy weapons even around this time so capturing logan shouldn't be that impossible, D - day was in 1944 and this is 1945 + Japan isn't far from Logan's history in the comics.
