    Well my 2023 Model Y suits my daily driving needs. I have had the vehicle for 5 months now. I drive just around town or very short trips. Only do home charging. I don't use Auto Pilot at all, still don't trust it and don't need it. Cameras do what I need them to do during my driving and my vehicle is clean the majority of the time. I don't have EAP or FSD, too expensive and not needed.
    I do find more battery usage is used during my colder weather months, which I knew it was to be expected. Preconditioning uses allot of battery charge. But like I say, I only do short daily driving trips and works for me.
    So far so good when this vehicle. No complaints.

      @notacarguy_au Does the current from your solar power directly go into your car (via battery storage), without a necessary grid connection?

    • @notacarguy_au
      @notacarguy_au  Před 7 měsíci +1

      @@David_Polak Yes and no. We can charge the car totally off our solar, but we don't need to use the battery in any way for that. We do have a house battery, but that's for the house. We could use it to charge the car, but the car battery is 60-sih kWH and the house battery is only 13.5. So the car would empty the home battery pretty fast.
      Luckily for us between me and wife we both work from home some days and so can manage the charge rate from the solar.

      It impossible to precondition (warm) the car (interior and battery) by simply navigating to a close supercharger, and, if you are plugged into power at home, the car will not use any of your battery to precondition.

    Totally ok. Your points are valid and your comments are measured and well explained. I don’t find them to be too “harsh” at all.
    I’d sure like the option to give Tesla more of my money to turn on features the car already has! I have a ‘21 M3 SR+, and I’d like to activate the additional speakers the car already has - or at least the option to do that!
    I wish the black door handles were illuminated at night when it’s pitch black out! I wish the car had a system of backing up braking like my wife’s VW ID.4 has! I wish the trunk (umm… boot) was better illuminated. I wish there was a 12v outlet in the rear. I like your idea about having an a la carte menu for getting the features one likes on advanced AP. And I agree that it would be great if Tesla had a PR dept and was more transparent about the company, the vehicles, the OTA upgrades, etc…
    Well done video. 👍🏼

    My Y bugbear is the front seat head rests - in my seating position I feel they push my head forward and because they are fixed the only solution is to recline the seat back, which alters my preferred position.

It gave me the shits so much I did the same as you - laid the seat back far enough so it doesn't hit me, but it's not an ideal angle to be sitting at. Why they can't put in a proper adjustable headrest like the cheapest of cheap cars have is beyond me. Note: I am a TSLA shareholder.

    As regards your comment about full self drive and merges from on ramps legally, the person in the road has the right of way, and should not have to avoid the person coming on the road. I've only had my MY for a month so I have never experienced the car without EAP. I'd prefer to have a subscription service available for it much like the enhanced connectivity. I think far more people would be willing to pay for that and that would make it transferrable. Even if it is 3 months at a time, it's be better than nothing, but a monthly subscription would be far more convenient. Another bonus for a subscription is more people are using it, so Tesla would be getting far more data to improve the systems. One question, I have never tried summon, in what circumstances would you use it? Just to get the car out of a tight space so you can get in the car?

    One thing I have noticed and I am a new owner, is when the speed limit changes, I see the max speed change but the actual speed your doing doesn't change... sometimes. If I'm doing 100km/h and I get a change back to 80 it doesn't always reduce the limit and vice versa. Am I missing a setting somewhere, or is this one of Tesla's famous "features"? Have a look in the autopilot settings. Though I think you can only set the speed to adjust when you turn on autopilot. Any speed changes after that need to be done manually. You can adjust the cruise speed with the right hand dial on the steering wheel.

    I know the cameras in the Highland model have been improved both in resolution and quality, BUT they are still not in 4K (or higher)! 4K dashcams have been out for many years now, no idea why Tesla isn't taking advantage of this tech in their Model 3s and Ys?? Even if there was an option to upgrade (eg. when ordering your new vehicle) the cameras. We shouldn't have to install 3rd party dash cams in 2023/2024. I'm also with you re autosteer/autopilot, it's never worked for me properly and has actually tried to drastically steer off a freeway into an emergency lane. Very dangerous! I know others have experienced this as well. I only use TACC now which seems to work very well (not perfect, still suffers the occasional phantom braking). My MY is now 4 months old and I'm starting to notice some very slight movement in the driver's seat, like something's a bit loose. Also the rear trunk seems to creak a bit too as the car moves around on the road, almost like the rubber seal on the rear tailgate is moving against the metal frame of the car. Very minor things, but something I've noticed recently on mine.

    This a bit of a bugbear for me - so forgive me lol
    If you are on a freeway and there is an on ramp you should not speed up or slow down. You have the right of way and should continue EXACTLY as the Tesla did. The ONCOMING car should speed up / slowdown and enter the freeway without causing anyone else to change speed. This is why Victorians have a reputation for being unable to merge onto a freeway. You effectively want your Tesla to drive badly
