My wife in her model Y got a speeding ticket when she took off from a set of traffic lights, only to be over by 12 kmh when she got to the other side of the intersection lol
I've changed mine, and my wife's profiles to CHILL mode to help prevent this. Springvale/Canterbury Rd Forest Hill Vic has cameras everywhere, and we use it multiple times every day - No speeding fines for either of us in 18 months of Money Y driving, and none for the previous 15 years either !
Sooooo easy to speed in the MY. I'm sure I will get better in time (only had the car since Feb 19) but I have the speed warning set to chime at 5km/h over the posted limit and it is always going off. I now set CC or AP if the stretch of road I am driving on is longer than about 200m.
I'm sad that I thought I could get a tesla but now I cant have one 😞 Went for a test drive in a Y and said to my wife that I wanted to test the acceleration. She said OK - so I did (Didnt break the speed limit) and she had to clamp both hands over her mouth to stop herself from vomiting. Fortunately she didn't soil the inside of the car, but the rest of the test drive (I did this at the start) was just uncomfortable for both of us as I had to listen to her repeating "I feel sick, I hate this" until we got out. Maybe when the new Y comes out it will be different, but the only silver lining for me is that on the way home she snapped "Just buy the bloody boat you want". Test drive was from Mulgrave BTW - those guys were great to deal with.
That's a shame, and I know this may not help, but was the opposite experience we had. Convinced the wife to come for a test drive and as soon as put my foot down getting onto the highway, she turned to me and said "Ok lets get one". 🤣 Was it only the acceleration that made you feel sick or the whole time of driving? If you're still interested in going electric I would encourage you to test drive, maybe with out the wife first, some other brands and see how they feel. :)
@@notacarguy_au Thanks for the reply. She also hated the suspension. I've looked around and a few people had fed this back. Apparently letting her drive may help. We're flat out for the next couple of months, so I'll let the memory fade a little and organise a drive in the Kia EV6 as I like the look of that and maybe take her back to Telsa and let her drive a model 3 as I hear the suspension is much better. Incidentally, I work for a fuel card payment company branching out into EV here in AU (We were the title sponsor for the London EV show in 2022) so as you can imagine I'm really keen to get into electric. My wife was actually really disappointed as well as she's a bit of a hippy and we currently live completely off grid. She was very excited before the test drive. We'll get there. Keep up the great work - I love the channel
@@notacarguy_au Yeah - it used to be a thing that if your car was registered to a company the "Company" (lol) could say "Oh we don't know who was diving" this would mean that the company would have to pay the fine but no-one would get points. Which was handy and a good loophole if you were in danger of losing your license. So to close that loophole they made company car fines astronomical. That way there is now a REAL incentive for companies to keep track of whos driving so they can provide the details to the police and then the fine gets reduced as it's a personal fine where they can attach points. Still if you were close to losing your license, $3,800 might seem reasonable
Well I do not know, but too many CEO's were passing off the fines to their company because Demerit points could not be applied to companies. So the fine to the company increases. Repeated speeding fines and *NOT* nominating, can garner fines to the company of up to $22,000 (New South Wales).

OOOOOPSSS!!! and Lucky you! But in NSW, I've tried that (writing in and asking for leniency) back when I first arrived - nope... I had to pay.
Yes, I think we got very lucky. Sorry you weren't as lucky.

What I don’t get is: the fines are higher when it’s a company car? Is that an Australian thing?
I guess so. 🤷🏻♂️

Hilarious 😂
It is now, not so much when it happened. 🤣
And you weren't even driving a Model Y Performance, that was the most disappointing thing 🙂
Good point. 🤣
It’s always the women eh? 😁
Not at all. Could just as easily have been me. Just luck of the draw this time.
no no, it IS.... 🤣@@notacarguy_au
Great response Lee, we don’t want to escalate this further 😆😆😆
