Webb Pierce segment from the 1984 video ~ Cradle of the stars : the story of Louisiana hayride ~ • Video I think Webb may have had "A Touch of the Grape" as Faron would say.........
Lol,, I went from Black Sabbath and The Doors back in the mid 80's to Webb and classic country. I was in my mid 20's,, I still like Sabbath and the Doors AND Webb today,,, and I'm pushing 60....
YEP !!! And the Ken Burns MEGA country music documentary gave Webb about 20 seconds. Literally. Webb Pierce was the #1 country artist for a decade from 51' - 61' or 52' -62',,, whatever,,, and a top 40 country artist for another decade from 61' - 71' and nothin.... All those #1's and top 20's annnnnnnnnnnnd,,,,,,,,,,,, nothin !! Thanks very little Ken Burns and Marty Stuart.
I was fortunate enough to have seen Webb in Nashville in 1979 and again at Branson in 1983 ,I was awe struck by his voice and went about acquiring as much of his music as I could find , sure glad I did, what a great singer
Weird,,,,,, I got my first copyright strike ever on this video a while back and it was gone for a while,,, and now it's back,, cool. I truly have NO idea what goes on with You Tube,,, there are a million rules and no rule book not unlike living in a lawless dictatorship I would imagine... Yeah, Webb's pool, those Nudie suits, and those two bespangled Pontiac's,, they were all awesome and so was Webb in his prime,, he was even awesomer actually. Yes,, awesomer is a word now ! :)
❤👍🇨🇭🇺🇲🏴☠️👋🙂 saw at opry in 70"s. He had rhinestone jumpsuit & mabe ann Margaret? ran out with lights down they did one song. They ran off stage. Announcer said lady stars name & webb pierce. All laughed. Everyone had screamed through their song.we thought he was elvis.he tricked us all.he waved from backstage after his name was called.it was a good time!
That's absolutely how it went down,, many were quite jealous of Webb and couldn't figure him out at all.. By 1961 Webb was basically off the road and very wealthy and it bugged and confused a lot very talented stars who were grinding hard on the road.
The 1950s stars like Webb pierce will never be repeated , his voice is pure country
Webb especially was totally unique..
He would have been 101 today. Love him and his music.
I'm 30 years old this year and this guy is my jam.

A falling star is a masterpiece.
Great video.
Can't see Webb Pierce without thinking of his guitar-shaped swimming pool.

@@2packs4sure Thank you!
Webb sounds like a very focused man who knew what he was doing. I bet the country establishment in his time was a bit unnerved by him!
That's absolutely how it went down,, many were quite jealous of Webb and couldn't figure him out at all..
By 1961 Webb was basically off the road and very wealthy and it bugged and confused a lot very talented stars who were grinding hard on the road.
What is the song at the start the one where he says down in Mexico?
New Silver Bells I think,. the live one on youtube is weak and the Decca released version ain't on CZcams apparently...
I'll post it if you want it.
2packs4sure thanks! One of the only Webb songs I like, wasn't a fan of his idk why
Are you saying you want me to post or you just wanted an answer ?
2packs4sure just an answer, I used to post general country but now I do just Johnny Horton otherwise I would have posted
Got it.
