James - Absolutely fantastic stuff. It was nice that you concentrated on the crew of 'GB' as the Nav was on his last trip. Amazing to think that all of these F3s and the Tornados since have now gone and probably all the crews retired. Steve.

I had the great privilege to serve on exchange at RAF LEUCHARS for 3 months in 1990 on exchange from the RAAF. Fantastic experience to be there for the 50Th Anniversary Battle of Britain Air Show. 🥰

Brings back memories. I served at Leeming and Conningsby with Tornado F3’s

Having been brought up in Angus, was always fascinated by the Tornados from Leuchars and their predecessors the Phantoms; one of which crashed, in the mid 70s, outside my home town.

Fantastic stuff! The F3 looked really mean, I understand that in combat they wouldn’t always get top spots…

Listened to hours upon hours of these comms since late nineties into the retirement. In fact I recognise some of the pilots very déjà vu. Export, Scimitar, Gamecock were callsigns I remember well

How much could have improved if the rest of the station got a day experiance of the line work getting the ac up. It never entered their thoughts, but we had plenty of officers doing mundane duties on holding and they did sweet FA to improve the RAF.
