    When your notebook runs out of pages and you use your baby brother's gut as paper to document ever step to operate this beast.

    As usual a little addendum regarding lights: Landing and taxi lights can be found on the little black panel attached to the bottom left of the pilot's dashboard. If you enter the helo and it's pitch black outside you can always use your flashlight by pressing LAlt+L, even without any systems started up.

    Excellent, was looking forward to this.

    The actual Mi-8MTV is preferably cold-started from an external power unit so the tests such as the autopilot check could be performed before twisting the collective to the right. Another thing is that you do want your 115V inverter on before starting your engines as you have to acknowledge that you have oil pressure and air starter pressure during the start.

    It aint working when I press ENG start the blades start spinning but they stop after a few seconds.
    Edit: it was the fuel pumps

    One thing to add: when you turned on your radar altimeter and the self-test finished, an audible low altitude warning will sound and the warning light on the radar altimeter will illuminate. In order to turn that light off, you will want to spin your low-altitude setting all the way down to 0. You can then set it to your desired low altitude setting so that you may correctly see and hear the indication while in flight.

    Oh! Some interesting news from Today's DCS newsletter. Apparently the Hind P we are getting shares a lot of the same stuff as this MI-8, has been confirmed for multicrew, and best of all has a 30mm cannon in the front for maximum get some-ing.

      @Stahlwollvieh Před 5 lety +1

      Yeah I absolutely can't wait for that beauty! Forget about all that silly F14 business, the Hind and MiG-23 are where the fun's gonna be at!
      Just look at her go! :D

      @@Stahlwollvieh The Hind will be a must. Will probably get the MiG-23 to be fair as well.
      I like the F14 as well and will be very happy when it's released but the Hind will be NERD LEVEL+++ :-P

      @@richardwales9674 Yeah. Don't get me wrong, I did pre-order the F14 as well. But it doesn't make me anywhere near as happy in my pants as the other two. Quite looking forward to the MiG-19 as well actually. Must be one of about 3 people there probably.^^

      @@Stahlwollvieh Yeah my F14's paid for as well just waiting for the buggers to let me fly it.
      MiG-19; I will get that too, so that's 2 of us, who's the third? :-P
      I'd get the MiG-17 when someone does that as well. I can fly and more importantly land the MiG-21 now so I'm hoping there'll be some transferable skills I can use in the MiG-15, and hopefully the 19 in the future as well. Maybe even the MiG-23???

    I tried to follow the in game tutorial for this helo,but it seems to be busted. The first run through I got as far as APU start,then the switch would not go in to the up position. After restarting for the 3rd or 4th time ,the yellow box-prompt around the rotor brake will not disappear in the down position and the tutorial will not advance past that .I just rage quit and uninstalled the whole thing,but as I just bought a new rig to play this on and the Mi8 AND the Syria map I'm going to have to keep at it. Any advice?

    If i set the rectifier (page up) all the way to 100, the helo starts taking off for me... I wonder what I'm missing. Collective is at 0 for sure.

    • @TacticalOni
      @TacticalOni Před 4 lety

      I've noticed with some flights, especially on a fresh startup (first flight of the day kinda thing) that regardless of where I've set my collective, no matter how much I jiggle it, the damn thing wants to GO.
      That said, when I first spawn in, I jimmy the collective and bottom it out, then I do my startup.
      When it comes to setting the RPMs, I don't press and hold PgUp, I tap it about 4-5 times per second to reach full power. This is a closer simulation to the pilot slowly turning the throttles instead of whacking them from 0-100. This way, you can counter whatever the chopper might be doing or just stop if it gets too wild.

    I’ve gotten decent at flying the Huey after only 2-3 days on a keyboard.. Was debating buying another bird, this just seems so much more complicated on the startup procedure. I’m sure it’s something I could get use to with some checklists. But I think I’m leaning towards the gazelle for the simplicity..
