  • Today we learn how to use the radio to listen to music. I mean to talk to the ATC, boots on the ground, and other aircraft.

    If we're wired to ground crew then we should always have to tell them to connect or disconnect, just like with ground power. Otherwise we're flying away with the intercom cable still plugged in. But then, how can you tell them to attach it if it's not attached? LOL!
    I think they may have updated it so the window works now. I seem to be having less trouble with rearming lately than traditionally, anyway.

      I think you're right. I recorded some of these videos as early as November 2019 on DCS 2.5.5, and there have definitely been some changes and fixes since then.

    Going from the Huey to Mi24p, the actuall flying is easy in comparison to learning new systems X/

    I wonder if the entire crew being locked into the one radio at a time is actually how the real helicopter works or if that is just a glitch/artefact of the module originally only being usable by a single player. It seems like a massive design mistake to not allow the three different people in the cockpit to each monitor a different radio. It also doesn't make sense for them to each have their own radio control panel if so.

    What Radio is the one from the NS430 GPS unit tuning to? I have to select UHF when I trie to tune via the NS430 I think? Thank you for another great tutorial!

      Not sure, tbh. I've started diving into the NS430, but I haven't gotten that far yet. I will have a video on it eventually that should hopefully answer that question and more :)

    Absolutley Awsome, question, I think i know answer but how does this tie into SRS to talk to your squadmates or Mission Freq?

    • @vsTerminus
      @vsTerminus  Před 4 lety +1

      I will be doing a video on using the radios with SRS at some point, but in general the main difference is the button you push to activate the radio. Instead of the in-game radio binding you would use your SRS radio binding. Otherwise you still set it the same way.
      The main UHF radio (R-863) is the most useful online, but sometimes you'll use the VHF (R-828) for talking with other helicopters.

    I'm doing the Spring Tension campaign and even though I set the manual frequencies on the R-863 when i push the "radio" button for the r-863 it comes up with a giant menu of who to talk to instead of the specific frequency i've dialed (outlined in the briefing). I made sure to set that switch to "manual" instead of preset. Any ideas?

    • @vsTerminus
      @vsTerminus  Před 4 lety +1

      Been a while since I tried that campaign but I think they have Radio Assists on in the Mission Editor... It doesn't tune your radio for you but it does show you all the available contacts even if you're not tuned to them.
      You should be able to just pick the name of the person you're trying to contact, and as long as you're on the right frequency it should work. If you don't see that person's name it's because they aren't close enough. The list is sorted by range iirc.

    How do you get the Radio 3 (R-828) to connect to the 30hz freq no the Hoggit server? I couldn't find a way to get SRS to change the freq, as it's preset only =/

    Hello, how to contact a new "airport" to request landing permissions. As soon as I am airborne I am not allowed to radio.
