So saying that dragon can live only as long as Balerion has is the same as saying that a man can live as long as a war veteran that spent his entire life fighting and in his retirement was doing drugs. I think another factor could be inbreading has shown in your own family tree, balarion came from valyria and vaghar/meraxes where born from eggs that likely came from the older dragons that originally moved over so they are prime valyrian stock to speak as they produced strong offspring like vermithor, after that you start inbreading and you can see through the generations they get smaller aswell as getting deformities like caraxes, or that last dragon but then there's also the maesters conspiracy

    With respect to the generation argument determining size, that would negate the age theory as it would impossible for a 2nd generation to possibly equal the size of the first UNLESS it lived as long. Therefore as we (SPOILER ALERT) should all know; by the end of The Dance the remaining Gen 1 dragon as it were, Vhagar, is at least 80 years older than any Gen 2. And as all of those died, it's impossible to know if Vermithor, the most likely candidate, could have reached Vhagar's size or even Balerions'. This is of course double so for all the Gen 3's and to say nothing of the 4th generation dragons.

    about the species thing, the 3 species of dragons were the 3 subspecies the targs owned/bred and rode however there were other subspecies of dragon, the books and GRRM do imply grey ghost and cannibal were not from the 3 subspecies the targs had hence why they either avoided or attacked and killed targs or the targ dragons without hesitation and also bc they both look much different compared to the other known targ dragons yet it is not bc of a deformity like in caraxes case where as as sheep stealer despite being wild atleast tolerated the targ dragons and targs being around him and later letting nettles bond with him compared to the other 2 wild dragons that had a flee or kill on sight mentality (unless they provoked him) and unlike grey ghost and cannibal also had a very similar appearance to the targ dragons (most notably vermithor as sheep stealer is basically stated to be a smaller and uglier version of vermithor) and based on that evidence grey ghost/cannibal being apart of atleast 1 different sub species/lineage not related to the targ/targ dragons (could be 2 separate sub species/lineages since grey ghost and cannibal look nothing alike either and act much differently)

    I have always believed that the rebirth of dragons is not a source of the return of magic, but a symptom. For magic returns and becomes stronger in places extremely far from Daenerys. Melisandre said that at the wall her magic had never been so strong. Thoros from the world resurrects Beric Dondarion. Others reappear behind the wall. In addition, at least 4 Warg children are born in the Stark family. Jon Snow manifested magic by possessing the Ghost in a dream, and Varamyr Sixskins also mentioned that Jon is much stronger than him. Bran is clear. Yarya in Bravos possessed cats and Nymeria across the sea. And Rickon had a prophetic dream with ned. I won't say anything about Sansa and Rob. I don't remember them ever showing true magical abilities. The bottom line is that it's not just Valyria's magic that's coming back. Literally all over the world, magic grows and becomes stronger. As some character said, I can’t say for sure, probably Quayt, “A new Age of heroes is coming.” Other than that, we have no direct evidence that dragons grow worse in dungeons, as Viserion and Rhaegal have grown to about the same size as Drogon, at least in the Show. That is, if it affects it, it is not too significant. I'll be glad to hear comments.

    Vhagar is Horse breed to be honest ! Her head have shape simillar to Syrax, and she didn't have much spike ! One thing to identify each breed will be:
    - Dinosaur-breed: having alot of spikes through out their body.
    - Horse-breed: weird head shape, didn't have much spikes, can fly longer than other breed, and better at controling flight. This is damn true with Syrax and Vhagar ! They both can fly at long distance and can do some hard skill such as landing in narrow space like Syrax do in ep2 when she land at the road to the castle of Dragonstone, and Vhagar land down beside the Driftmark castle after her flight with Aemond at ep6. Though the space so narrow for a giant being like Vhagar, she still land down perfectly !
    - Wolf-breed: scary face, love killing, and fiercing personality. They not easy to tame, alway angry and ready to kill. Also they show that they're the breed that have the highest Combat IQ and skill ! We can see this so correct in Vermax, the 1st time he appear, he've shown that himself were a natural born killer, the 1st thing he do is roar into Jace face and then so exiting to kill the sheep ! Meleys and Caraxes is so basic to this breed anyway

    • @starbirds2464
      @starbirds2464 Před rokem +3

      Bruh…no lmao! You can’t lump multiple dragons into a single breed because they “good at flying”? Or “good at killing” vhagar and syrax have entirely different anatomical structures. Syrax has 4 horns, vhagar has dozens of small ones. They’re faces are an entirely different shape, vhagar posesses a Dulap, and syrax has a spiky chest. Syrax has a tail stabiliser and vagaries has a whip tail
      The list goes on, there’s more than 3 breeds of dragon in this show, there’s at least 7. Seasmoke and dreamfyre share the same breed as Danny’s dragons because they’re literally the same. They’re identical. That’s how you tell they’re the same breed. Dragons with entirely different body structures can’t be the same breed

  • @perladevittorio
    @perladevittorio Před rokem

    The whole breed argument is contradictory in my opinion. A huge part of it should take into consideration who the parents of the dragons are and what genes the single individual has inherited. Meleys, my favourite dragon in both GOT and HOTD universes along with Rhaegal, is Caraxes's sister yet they look vastly different due to her brother's phenotype abnormalities. That being said, it was specifically stated that the 3 breeds were based on head shape and we can tell most of them apart through this criterion, but when it comes to the rest of the dragon's characteristics it becomes more complicated. So it really comes down to the single specimen's phenotype in my opinion.
    Meleys and Caraxes are definitely the most unique out of all the dragons we've seen on screen so far, and seeing Caraxes's offspring (Vermax and Arrax), it's evident how the parents' characteristics influence a dragon's phenotype since both siblings have inherited his father's head shape and lean structure although lacking his deformities and extreme appearance.
    So to sum everything up, you can surely separate dragons into breeds, but when it comes to certain individuals it's really all about their very unique phenotype, which could possibly be considered a different breed itself just like in cats or dogs nowadays.

    Warcraft and Elden Ring Dragon sizes maybe something cool as well to cover. These dragons though were no where near as big as say Ancalagon and dragons of the War of Wrath in the Silmarillion are still very huge on average. Gransax and Deathwing are the biggest ones of their worlds.

    The blood magic argument doesnt make sense, the size of Daenery's dragons on tv is a complete invention, in reality, they follow the same grow rate as dragons in HOTD, as in the end of 5th book drogon barely have a wingspan of 20ft, as expected for a dragon of his age, be careful mixing tv and books information, dragons in HOTD are kinda accurate to the books data, while dragons in GOT are that big just for entertainment purposes, the directors stupidity and fame thirst.

    Balerion is overrated. Vhagar is way more badass. Balerion never really saw any action after the death of Maegor the Cruel. By the time he reached his full size, he was basically a bench warmer and hadn`t been ridden to war in decades.
    Vhagar, on the other hand, was ridden to war against Dorne and Myrish pirates on Tarth during the reign of Jahaerys. She was active well into her old age. By the time of the Dance, she was surely much bigger than Balerion had been during the Conquest, and caused much more damage.

      Uhh she wasn't bigger than balerion at any point dude. She's similar to his size at the conquest but she never ever grew bigger. Meraxes would have been bigger than vhagar as well

      Balerion flew to Old Valyria with Princess Aerea, came back with a giant wound and quite possibly a virus, Aerea died from the virus. This is the reason I wholeheartedly believe dragons can outlive Balerion, 250 years is nothing, this is supposed to be a magical flying creature and it only gets to live that old? We have tortoises nowadays that live to 200

      @@josephayers7395 I said Vhagar was bigger during the Dance than Balerion was during the Conquest. Balerion was somewhere around 100 years old during the Conquest. Vhagar was 180 during the Dance. She would have to have been quite a bit bigger.

      @@josephayers7395 Well, that is not necessarily a fact, but, I never claimed that she was. I said she was bigger DURING THE DANCE, than Balerion was DURING THE CONQUESTS.
      As in, 181 year old Vhagar was bigger than 100 year old Balerion.
      Also, Vhagar was much more active at the height of her power than Balerion.
      Balerion spent his last 40 or 50 years getting fat in the Dragonpit.
      Vhagar spent her old age committing war crimes.
