      Roanoke Gaming grunts and jackals are mainly used to make the big carrier forms but they can also turn into combat forms and over a certain time has passed a combat form will be used for bio mass or turn into a carrier form

      So we never see infected Spartans because if there ever was....they'd nuke half the planet just to kill one turned Spartan. There's a protocol for this. Can't recall it. Pretty badass tbh.
      Edit: There's a code-word called "Corrupter" UNSC are issued to use WMD to eliminate a infected Spartan.

    Unggoy and Kig-Yar can be made into combat forms. The true reason why we don't see them much is because bungie didn't create combat form models for them. That being said, they can definitely be used to make carrier forms, which also come from other combat forms too, and can be used as general biomass. So it can be used to make flood growth pods, different pure form variants, and spread the flood burn.

      erickyboo interesting, I actually didn't know they could be turned into combat forms. I figured bio mass more than anything due to the lack of bone structure in the jackal and just overall size of the grunts

    Hunters can be infected just not with infection forms, they must be infected through the airborne spores however any biomass from them is just that, biomass as the infected lekgolo lack the ability to form into hunters

    In regards to the infected spartan, it is actually never encountered as “real.” The augmentation of spartans basically render the host unusable, killing the infection form. So Spartans cannot be infected. They are only found in multiplayer, due to the fact that multiplayer games are combat tests and simulations. They are simply placed so that units can prepare for the worst.

      @nothisispatrick6528 Před 5 lety +9

      Jim Jelly Jin Jam Jimbo I don’t think this is true. Yes while the flood seen in halo 4 are a simulation and it is very hard for a flood to infect a spartan it is certainly possible.While a Spartan has never been infected in the lore so far it seems extremely likely that they can be as the flood infected the forerunners who had more advanced body modification than the Spartans and the UNFC does have protocols for use in the event that a Spartan is infected by the flood.

    • @johncarver357
      @johncarver357 Před 5 lety +6

      its already been stated Spartans ARE vulnerable to Flood infection, Johnson wasnt immune because he was a Spartan I but because of a condition he got from exposure to a crate of Plasma Grenades going off near him. John himself isnt immune when the the book states Cortana was the one who saved him from an Infection Form. The field manual itself has protocols for if and when a Spartan is infected, allowing for WMD's to be used against them if all else goes wrong.

  • @truexenith8596
    @truexenith8596 Před 6 lety +12

    I'm pretty sure that carrier forms happen to any combat form when that particular combat form has outlived it's purpose or becomes old. Instantaneous carrier forms can happen, but can be formed from old combat forms. Grunts are hard to infect, which adds another layer of difficulty for the Flood. Usually the Flood uses Grunts for biomass along with Lekgolo worms, however if the flood do happen to infect a grunt, it will become *very* deadly.

  • @Sundereddreams
    @Sundereddreams Před 3 lety +1

    Sgt Johnson did overcome the pod but it wasn't only due to the orion project. He had been highly irradiated from using a whole crate of plasma grenades causing his nervous system to be out of wack and the pod not being able to take control of him in time. He then kills it but still has a semblance of flood inside him.

    While you're right for the most part about them being unggoy and kig-yar being used for Carrier forms are created under a variety of circumstances. If a combat form is damaged too badly damaged to be useful anymore it will turn into a Carrier form (losing 1 combat form to possibly gain more). Or when they're no longer useful I.e no more enemies to use them against. Or the one that we see in the games when there are more desirable forms I.e humans and elites. Don't take this to mean they can't be though grunts are about the size of a normal human (remember we're like a 7ft tall spartan) and in canon grunts are strong enough to rip limbs off however there knowledge is limited (small weapons and explosives). Compared to humans and elites which can use pretty much any weapon or vehicle. Also the flood form Spartans we see are simulations used to prepare Spartans if the flood threat was seen again but we do see one infected with a pod in the master chief edition of the infected game vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/halo/images/7/71/Spartan_infectado_H2A.png/revision/latest?cb=20150317022535&path-prefix=es

    About the carrier forms: there were 3 originally drawn by the main concept artist at Bungie that was one with Grunt legs, one with human legs that was taller, and one that was a covenant Elite and even had nubby arms that were bone thin and unevenly broken close to the shoulder. Canonically the carrier is NOT a grunt, but they modeled the grunt legs based on the first of the three concepts. It does not make in game sense, it's just a choice in art direction. Grunts and jackals do not have enough bone mass (because the flood needs calcium according to original lore) for the flood to sustain a connection to the host. Grunt and jackals are instead fed on as biomass for late game evolution.
    The flood lore between 1999 and 2004, so everything up until Halo 3's production post Launch of Halo 2, is retconned and gone. The changes to the lore are -NOT- explained with a handwave explanation from a character who isn't important to the plot as an excuse to just do whatever they wanted with the lore and gameplay. This is due to in-fighting between Bungie employees who all had different opinions on what the story should be about.

  • @jakemarsh8967
    @jakemarsh8967 Před 5 lety +1

    The carrier forms, if I remember correctly, are old combat forms that have been too damaged or become too old to fight. The flood biomass already accumulated on the combat form then works to incubate infection pods. It seems this process creates a gaseous byproduct that the carrier form then uses to expand and release the infection forms, or perhaps that is the gases that the internal organs of the host created through digestion and breathing, using those gases and putting them under pressure until they burst out from within the weak layer of flood biomass.
    I believe the legs of an Unggoy or a Kig-Yar would be too weak to support the bulbous torso of a carrier form, of course the legs shown also seem to barely hold up the creature but the legs of an elite or brute combat form would be much more suited to the task. That doesn't mean that the Jackals or Grunts didn't play a part, we all know they are used as flood biomass for the protogravemind, gravemind, and keyminds, but perhaps they are used as nutrients to grow these new infection pods within the carrier forms. It should also be noted that carrier forms do not need limbs so they could be created out of simple flood biomass, they have been described as sort of boarding parties for infection forms, launching them outside of an airlock towards an enemy vessel or towards a planet's surface.

    I think a Hunter flood form would be scary as all shit.
    Yeah, the floor would have to infect every separate worm, or at least an effective majority to make use of the form, but imagine A swarm of flood pods dog piling a hunter, them getting in and rapidly but one by one each worm gets infected.
    The transformation animation would be brutal, literally a war inside a single hunter as the flood worms are ripped out by the regular worms in an attempt to purge them.
    After all the worms are infected, the flood worms gather back in to the central mass (so yeah, imagine that animation!) and reform into a hunter flood, maybe if two hunters are present they combine into one giant Hunter out of its armor, i’m envisioning the almost literal rotting intestine monster walking around with super stretchy limbs that could shoot out towards the player or shape shifting abilities, such as shifting from a bipedal to a serpentine form.
    It could act as an assimilator, a “ worm tongue”, grabs a suitable host and pulls into its mass where it holds it there until it’s infected by proxy before spitting out a new flood.
    Yeah, lore wise would not make that much sense save for maybe being massive enough to start a slow moving proto gravemind but gameplay wise, that’s a nasty boss to fight and one that may technically be immortal.
