  • Admit it, if you have played Dead Space and Halo, you have probably wondered what would happen if these two met out in space. Who would win? What would happen? And how would it all go down? Well I have teamed up With Hidden Xperia to discuss just that and provide a break down on the Necromorphs as well as what I believe is a pretty good conclusion as to who would win. So I hope you guys enjoy Dead Space Necromorphs Take on The Flood from Halo | Who would emerge the victor?
And thanks for watching Roanoke Gaming guys!

Why? The Flood do exactly the same thing only far better and far more intelligently. It's like people here CHOOSE to ignore what they did in The Forerunner Trilogy like people on comicvine and spacebattles do because they realize that, if they DID acknowledge that, this conversation would be over and none of the fantasies the Dork Space (or even the Hola crowd) would come to play. The Flood would just spread, and spread, and spread and overwhelm their vastly inferior shadows. Now, if this was tyranids, this could be interesting if you assume both starts from base and have to work their way up, but with necromorphs, even the flood at its weakest would out compete it for biomass and its infection forms, while only peer level to necromorphs, would run circles around them because The Flood is run by a quantum-computer/AI analogue in biological form that was able to give said computers/AI the hardest time they've ever had in their existence.

Even with Nids the Flood would win because it would assimilate biomass faster thus develop at a faster rate . Ie by the time a base level Nid Nora Queen is established the Flood will already have a Gravemind and be building a Keymind on some poor planet. Que video link.. czcams.com/video/D_Q2970A4Co/video.html Yeah someone who is a 40k fan has already done a comparison video putting the Flood against all of 40k at the same time. The Flood is basically at a buffet in 40k because nothing there has anything like the Halo Array and nothing there could activate the Halos even if they did get them dropped in for a point of reference on how to commit galactic suicide to stop the Flood growing. Well until the Flood laughs and goes like bitch please we don't even need biomass to reproduce pure forms can self replicate. lol

@@coc8648 That is an interesting way to think about it, considering they are both parasites that have effects on organics, and they both use the nervous system. they both can amalgamate multiple bodies and multiple organisms together and repurpose these to make new dangerous forms. The Necromorphs have an advantage however, in that the marker sends out a signal, at all times, that simultaneously affects the mind, and the body. what I see as being most likely, is the marker signal affecting flood spores and the lifeforms they infect and the ones they fail to infect, ultimately leading to the creation of a new brother moon made from an entire planet's worth life, including the flood forms in the area. the scary part, is that this new brother moon would technically still be capable of continuing to grow beyond the initial rules of the marker, and cannibalize other brethren moons after using it's telepathic capabilities to inflict a new variation of the logic plague on its brethren and bring them together and to it, eventually culminating in a creature so large that it must literally consume planets whole to get the sustanence it needs to survive, all the while spreading.
In Essence, Neither one wins, as they both survive in the new universe devouring inter galactic super conglomerate creature.Or at least, this is my opinion, as someone who has played both game franchises.

The markers are like Eldritch horrors, those of higher intelligence are more likely to succumb to insanity through understanding the horror, than succumb to the horrors; whereas those of lower intelligence would become mad and never realize it, and then become pawns, the intelligent will resist and become immune, yet try to understand, more so succumbing to the horrors of the situation instead of to the marker itself; with very few being both intelligent enough while also capable of accepting madness while retaining actual strength of will, making those who are completely immune and capable even rarer than extremely rare; so rare that they are more likely to all be killed off before being given the opportunity to actually arise.

Likewise, Dead Space's human military is nowhere near the insanity that is Halo's. Halo's universe is rich with resources where as Dead Space's is starved of them, that's the whole reason humanity seeks out the Markers in the first place. That is already purposefully putting the Brethren Moons at a disadvantage and the battle would just be a curbstomp. We also have no idea of what kind of military technology the Dead Space universe has, as it is mostly a survival horror game, where the military technology is not as much a focus as it is in the epic that is Halo. If Dead Space were treated the same way Halo was, we'd probably be looking at an entirely different argument. The thing about the Brother Moons is that what they have access to just isn't known and is entirely speculative. What exactly did they hijack from the several other civilizations they have killed off and consumed? All we truly know is that they can mess with any mind they wish that has been exposed to the Marker signal from Galaxies away. We don't even know how far the Moons were from Earth before they arrived, which actually tells a scary story in and of itself as to how fast these things can fly through space, before being woken up, there was no sign of them at all anywhere near Sol Galaxy, so they had to be really REALLY fucking far, meaning they can travel at least at Light Speed.

Something I think you may have touched on a little when talking about the Flood using weapons, something to remember is when the Flood form a Gravemind, that Gravemind gains everything known by every other Gravemind that has existed in time, Meaning they have knowledge of the Forerunners because the grave/key minds absorbed them back then, and the new Gravemind could start making Halo Rings for their use, cutting necromorphs off from gaining more soldiers, bio mass, and new Moons. While at the same time, The Flood can make the cloning machines the Forerunners made to repopulate the entire universe, now letting them just eat whatever they clone, Giving them an infinite food and biomass source while Necromorphs now have nothing to consume, and are stuck with what they have. They could do an attack against the flood to try and gain control over the cloning machines, but the Grave or Key mind at this point has probably already started making weapons to end the necromorphs and has been thinking this through for a while.
Also, side note, I believe that if they fight, and they would, both sides would start adapting and changing to better fight the other, maybe allowing one side to infect or control the other, and due to large amounts of them there most likely is now in the universe I feel like a third faction that is now both Necromorph and Flood, gaining everything from both sides, making a super parasite that wants to do what both sides wanted. If that would happen I think that middle faction would win if put against the originals, but that's a maybe in a fictional world.

The Floods neural physics and the Necromorph signal and hivemind could interact in a way were they could fuse their hiveminds.
However, this would take time for both to fuse their reality warping abilities. The Flood and the Necromorphs would be constantly communicating with one another rather they like it or not ,which would allow them to actually understand each other.
Assuming a Brethren moon and a Flood keymind or Gravemind existed at the same time.
Overall I think the Flood would easily understand the Necromorphs hivemind and vice versa. They are both highly intelligent to the point where they could make peice with one another and attempt to purposely fuse their hiveminds and hybridiz both their abilities, physics, and biology to become even greater then before.

I mean at the end of the day. I know that the flood could easily defeat the Necromorphs. The flood is arguably more dangerous and terrifying. I’m just saying that I wouldn’t assume that AI is a great tool against the brethren moons. They have assimilated many many species that grew to dominate the galaxy so they probably encountered and utilized the AI made by humans. AI is hell bent on its purpose...if the moons manipulate a scientist into creating AI that has a purpose that directs towards their goal then that is quite the asset the moons would use.

    • @Genasidal
      @Genasidal Před 4 lety +1

The distance the moons can control people need to be taken into account too. The flood having a reliance on technology to do a lot of their travel leads to some impressive weaponry for sure, but also, more variables for the brethren too manipulate. If they're able to convert smaller floods from great distances, they could wipe out entire technological colonies before coming anywhere near the flood's line of fire.
I don't think it's stated enough exactly how far these brethren moon bastards can control someone. They definitely have an insane range that they can use to their advantage. Again though, it all depends on scenario since the brethren moons are not indestructible. I personally feel that even keyminds aren't immune to the infection since the signal is clearly ridiculously stronger when a marker becomes a moon, but I will speculate that in order for a key marker to be influenced, the brethren would probably have to get much closer putting themselves at risk, whereas smaller flood would be much easier to control.
That's why I personally would say it's more likely that the brethren would win most of the time, because again, even messing up a few key points of attack for the Flood could spell disaster. As soon as the brethren get in range, it's all over. Especially because of their numbers already - destroying a few wouldn't lessen the impact of their invasion at all.
However, we all know the scariest reality is one where like two black holes coming together, they merge and become a hybrid species truly terrifying. The flood's technological prowess with the necromorph's range, aggression and ability to pull it's "food" towards it. That'd be super world destruction. Ooverkill x10.

I have to go with the Flood, just because of the description for the Halo 5 map 'Tyrant':
"the Forerunner Miner rate had built a network of colonies buried deep inside rich planetoids, crafting comfortable warrens and workshops as beautiful as they were labyrinthine. Protected by layers of hard light and exotic matter, and fitted with energy projectors powered by seething natal universes, they were impregnable fortresses that the Flood broke themselves on . . . until the Gravemind itself turned an infinitesimal portion of its baleful intelligence to bear on the problem.
Grasping impossible filaments buried beneath reality by the long-vanished Precursors, the Gravemind pulled at strands that twisted and warped real space. Walls made of collapsed starmatter cracked and shattered, entire fleets of kilometer-long warships vanished in flares of scathing light, and colony planetoids were ripped asunder; cracks in the Miner’s defenses into which the Gravemind poured billions of walking corpses, all cackling with one voice that drowned out desperate screams and final shouts of useless defiance. Those that survived the initial onslaught could only activate failsafes and await hordes of twitching Flood forms wearing the bodies of their families."
The Gravemind/Keymind came across a small hurdle in its goal to consume all Biomass in the Galaxy, and it warped reality itself to utterly crush all opposition.

Well I believe that the Flood would have the advantage here for several reasons.
    1. The Flood have shown that they're extremely intelligent, through the use of firearms, vehicles and other technology, while the necromorphs (besides the moons) are mostly mindless animals. One of the reasons that the Library is so difficult on higher difficulties is the amount of Flood holding rocket launchers and shotguns, which they know how to use and aim, while necromorphs.....well I've played DS3, and they can't really aim.
    2. The Flood don't need to kill their victims in order to infect them, something that's been shown as a necessity for Necromorph infection, and when the Necromorphs kill they don't exactly leave the people they kill intact; as well as Flood being capable of spreading much faster than Necromorphs due to spores and Infection Forms compared to standard Infectors that we see on the DS side.
    3. Although Flood combat forms may be weaker individually compared standard Necromorph forms (Slashers, Spitters, Pukers, Stalkers, etc), they are far more numerous because they're shown to be capable of reaching a point where they don't even need bodies anymore (as well as being able to spread more quickly). And that's not even getting into Pure Forms and Flood Juggernauts, as well as the monstrosities that were shown in the Halo Graphic Novel, Halo Legends: Origins and The Mona Lisa, they look much tougher than the larger Necromorphs like Brutes, the Tormentor, Tripods, etc.

    • @random3857
      @random3857 Před 5 lety +14

      1. Necromorphs in Dead Space 3 also use weapons. And even stasis units to enhance speeds in 2 and 3.
      2. The Regenerator, in Dead Space 2, was made by implanting the regenerative mass growing on walls in a live subject.
      3. The mass that grows on walls regenerative so it doesn't need victims, specifically, and eventually blocks off entire areas and may be what formed tentacle arms. As we can see, every Marker makes slightly different Necromorphs, it depends on the situation, really.

Excellent tag-team videos with you and HiddenXperia! I finally subbed as well!
In the battle between the Flood and Necromorphs the deciding factors would be the Marker signal and the speed at which each faction strips a planet of biomass.
The Necromorphs would be able to win most all planetary engagements due to Marker signals providing a disruptive influence to all organic tissue. We don't know how the Marker signal will affect Flood biology, but it would stand to reason that propagation and reproduction of any Flood material would be hampered drastically. The Flood might not be able to reproduce or infect anything at all. Any Flood forms that would fall due to an engagement would also quickly be put to use as new material for the Necromorphs.
The problem with the Marker signal is that while it has a near indefinite range, the strength of the omnidirectional signal determines its actual effective range. Simply put, the fewer Markers on planet the greater the signal strength required which expends a lot of energy by several orders of magnitude than a few Markers placed around a planet at lower amplitude.
The Flood don't have the problem of maintaining signal strength. They operate on a biological level in addition to a having a instantaneous connection to the whole through a kind of extra-dimensional quantum resonance. They can simply infect and keep moving.
The Flood's mobility and intelligence can also be used to bait Necromorphs into traps. In a planetary engagement where a Gravemind has been formed the Necromorphs would be at a disadvantage and a stalemate would occur with the Flood being unwilling to enter the Marker signal field and the Necromorphs being unable to attack due to them being relegated to areas where the Marker signal is present.
The formation of a Hivemind would lead to the option of counter attack from the Necromorphs due to having increased signal range.
In a galactic engagement the Necromorphs in the form of the Brethren Moons would be able to quickly consume all biomass from orbit and those planets not consumed would be the birthplaces of new Brethren Moons with the rapid placement of Markers around each planet.
The Flood would be at a severe disadvantage in space until they are able to counter with massive ships and weapons built to counter the Brethren Moons. Keyminds would play important roles, but without appropriate defenses they would only serve all you can eat buffets for the Moons.
The Necromorphs would be unstoppable against the Flood in space, that is until the Flood develops a counter to the Marker signal. Anything that has the ability to disrupt the Markers such as the Flood capturing someone immune to the Marker signal.
The end result of the battle between the Flood and Necromorphs would end with a Flood victory due to their intelligence and the Necromorphs' reliance on the Marker signal to propagate their forces. The battle then would be determined on whether the Flood could eradicate the remaining Brethren Moons. The final victor in that battle would be determined by the number of offensive forces the Flood brought to bear against them.
To echo another poster here who mentioned the tag line to the AvP movie: whoever wins, we lose...

Edit: making this a BIT easier to understand, basically the marker through a signal somehow manipulates dead biomass of any sort in order to create a DNA recombinant disease, likely some type of virus. at the end each cell acts on their own or it would not ever be repurposed. Infection can be caused from any type of INJECTION, IMPLANTATION, CONSUMPTION, and most other methods. Heck, I wouldn't doubt that once necromorphs encountered the flood spores, they could create spores of their own, maybe even changing wheezers to expel their own necromorph spores and cause necromorphs to also be able to transfer small ammounts of spores through wounding.

    • @mrjtfang2
      @mrjtfang2 Před 6 lety +1

Okay, so you need the marker. However, that still doesn't change the fact that at the very least, at some point if in either scenario a necromorph got at least enough biomass to spread corruption or even create a group of necromorph, conflict would possibly go down to the cellular level. Its possible it could simply be a matter of whether or not the necromorphs can rewrite the flood faster than what the flood can do; and it may be difficult because I doubt that necromorph forms have a central nervous system.

I think the flood wins this but just barely. It all comes down to 3 reasons for me.
1)The flood combat forms can use the weapons of a converted species which could give them a small edge in firepower initially. While the necromorphs might be able to, we have never seen them do so with the sole exception being the stasis module slashers from DS1, which they said was more of a malfunction then deliberate design.
    2) The flood infection forms are more common and can infect living beings as well as dead tissue. The necromorph can only really infect a body once brain activity has been terminated meaning the conversion process from sentient species to member of the hivemind of each respective side would favor the flood in terms of speed of propagation.
3)If a flood infestation is allowed to progress far enough, they can begin infecting beings through airborne spores instead of needing to throw infection forms at their enemies. This is something that the necromorphs cant really do. They CAN create spores as seen in the DS1 Hydroponics bay but it doesn't seem to infect living beings as Isaac walks around there just fine without becoming infected.
Still an incredibly close race though

The necromorphs would not only be necromorphs, but also the manipulated humans,
with humans assistance, the necromorphs survival chance skyrockets,
The flood can't manipulate a independent conscious to work for them,
And considering humans have taken on the flood before and won,
The flood would be in trouble.
Army's of supersoldiers who are immune to flood infection like master Chief could be made by humans.

Actually, the X parasite kills it's host and then gain the ability to shape-shift into a perfect copy of said host. This somehow includes any and all technological components as well. It can also add it's own enhancements to said form and asexually reproduce after taking said form making multiple copies of what it's coping. With that in mind, they would likely consume the flood forms and become copies of them, but I'm not sure if they could infect Necros because of the whole already being dead thing, not sure how that would play out. If they could infect necros, well, they would just flat out win by becoming both. Also, 2 or more Xs that copied different things can combine into a fusion of said things, so imagine a flood nercomorph hybrid fused together. If an X coping a host takes too much damage, they will revert back to their gelatinous form, which can then reform into it's copied body after some time.

I'll give you props for giving as fair of a comparison as you're able. Not many videos do that.
Something to consider is that the Forerunners realized the Flood had the ability to consume the entire galaxy, overwhelming everything the Forerunners could throw at them, in only a few years, and that was before the Forerunners even knew the Flood had access to Neural Physics, or what Neural Physics was capable of. The Flood basically played with the Forerunners for centuries, waiting for the Forerunner civilization to peak before swooping in and wiping them out, because that's what the Mantle dictates (every race having the opportunity to reach its maximum potential). That said, the Flood's combat abilities are significantly higher than what we see in the majority of the books and games.
Also, the Gravemind has the knowledge of all past graveminds, so I highly doubt the Signal could overwhelm a Gravemind's control over the Flood.
