The only player on this earth that can run through the whole team like a freight train. Most exciting player ever to watch. Thank you Lomu. The King of Rugby. Love from Canada.
In our dormitories at Wesley College, you knew where Jonah Lomu slept. He had a 2 man cubicle, to himself. He slept next to his weights and training equipment. He lived and slept as an athlete. Rest in Peace. Get teary eyed every time I watch.
I’m an Australian Aussie rules fan but I have the utmost respect for this mans talent, so sad that he was deprived the right to live to ripe old age. He certainly deserved to live a long life for all the enjoyment and wonder he gave to millions around the world from all sports. RIP Jonah.
I have no clue what rugby is, since I'm from the Philippines and we don't play this game... but when someone mentions rugby.. Jonah Lomus, comes to mind...he was an amazing athlete
Lomu was an astonishing physical specimen. Players have gotten bigger since the game turned professional, but I still think he'd have a big impact today. What a rugby player.
People rightly marvel at Lomu's extraordinary combination of pace, strength and size but the really amazing thing imho was that he wasn't just a bulldozing winger - he also had great finesse with his footwork and balance. That gave him the option to beat defenders with a step or a body swerve that would normally be used by smaller wingers such as Shane Williams or Cheslin Kolbe.
Devastated to read of Jonah's death. He, and this video in particular, gave me the strength to get up and go on during the year I nursed my husband as he died of mesothelioma. Even now, just hearing the oening bars of "Remember the Name" will give me fresh courage and energy. Thank you Jonah, for lending me a little of your strength. Rest in peace.
As an NFL fan born in America, I don't know much about rugby. I do know about Jonah Lomu though, he's one of the most freakish athletes I've ever heard of. I don't know of another man in any sport that has that much raw speed, size and strength. RIP Mr Lomu, 40 was way too early.
Bro I'm an ex american football player & I just watched a Rugby guy watching my childhood hero Walter Payton & commenting on his greatness & comparing Sweetness with Lomu. Both being great at their sports & dying way too early but leaving so much for the sport. So I had to come check Lumo. What a beast just like Payton! Salute to both men.
I’ll never forget his power, that last game of sevens v Fiji was unbelievable, he put aside 3 big Fiji players using strength and balance. Only Jonah could do that!
People say things like, “an exciting player” or “the best winger” etc but simply put Jonah Lomu is THE BEST PLAYER and THE MOST EXCITING PLAYER EVER!! No comparison. RIP Jonah.
RIP Jonah I'm glad you were there to watch your team win the RWC2015. And if somewhere up there you can truly still watch rugby, don't ever forget that this beautiful game was made better because you played it.
RIP Jonah. Saw you at your very best many times live. What an honour to have witnessed your talents. For those NFL fans that have doubts about this man's ability to make it your sport, just see all of the Tongans and Samoans in the league now. And there are many Tongans and Samoans playing rugby league and union all over the world too. Over the last 20 years since he first came on to the scene, NONE have had as much as impact as Jonah. Great video and a super tune to go with it! Kia Kaha big man.
Throwing men (weighing 18 stone) around with one arm while carrying a ball with the other is a sight that leaves me awestruck! Even the posts wanted to get out of his way! The man was unstoppable! The best ever! Saw Lomu on TV only a couple weeks ago an he looked as fit as ever, shocking to hear he's died. The greatest rugby player ever and an even greater man.
Rugby players work bloody hard just to wear their country's shirt. All Blacks is a huge thing here in NZ and getting to wear those legendary black shirts is what all school boys across the nation want to do when they're older. They pride themselves in one day playing for that team. Like how SBW turned down Australia's top dollars just to play for the All Blacks. It's one thing that made me respect so many rugby players.
I'm an Aussie and not from a rugby state, but as a sports fan (and nz being my second team in any international sports event) I was always a huge fan of limitations, rip.
Fascinating to see the number of non rugby enthusiasts posting glowing comments. Fair to say he is the most iconic player the sport has ever produced. A complete freight train powerhouse of a player, and seemingly a wonderful man off the field too. RIP Jonah Lomu
The funeral could not have been more appropriate and touching. Rest in peace Jonah Lomu you incredible human being and immortal legend. 12 May 1975 - 18 November 2015
He’s like that kid in school who was so far ahead in his development that he bowls everyone over cos he’s 13 years old 6feet tall and 3 feet wide but Jonah was doing this to grown adults at their peak of power and fitness
I really don't watch rugby, just when it is being on news. But when I was looking at his face, I see his passion and love for the sport and the feeling of accomplishing his goal and of course his team. That makes a great player of a sport! What a great athlete! I think he's the best of his time! -RIP
R.I.P A true legend, Jonah you were the reason I became interested in rugby. I have watched before and since and have never seen anything as fast and skillful as you. You are to go down as one of the all time greats. Love to your family and peace to you Dominique

You guys comparing Jonah to NFL players are missing the point - it was Jonah's ability to stand in the tackle that made him so dangerous - as long as he kept his legs pumping, people couldn't hold onto him. I don't think the NFL has much demand for that kind of skill set as a result of how the game works, although I'm sure that a few of the bigger guys would be able to do it as well without the padding, etc. But when you combine that with being able to run through a gap, even if it wasn't quite big enough, and to get on the outside of almost anyone, Jonah stood alone. We haven't seen anyone like him since and probably never will.
Don't know much about rugby but saw the documentary on Lomu and was very impressed. At 275 lbs with his speed, quickness, and determination I'm sure he could have been very successful in the NFL. The one difference I see is that rugby players often receive the ball on the dead run while running backs in the NFL usually get only a few steps to pick up speed.
He died today. Very sad. Greatest rugby player ever in my mind. Especially having done the things he did with the kidney disease he had. Will be missed. But we'll still be watching these highlights in decades to come!
It's like hearing that the pyramids, the Taj Mahal and three continents have collapsed. What a loss to the world and so heartrendingly sad for his family.
What a superb athlete, never again we will see anybody like jonah lomu.He is the greatest winger that there will ever be.His power and pace for such a big guy was absolutely incredible.Such a sad loss as another legend has gone!

I'm from.argentina and i saw jonah playing with our fierceful pumas. He'd run with a couple of playera atached to his legs. Hats off, a man in a man's sport. I doubt there would be another lomu in 500 years. He was not new zealander though
