Great comparison, thank you for sharing

Thanks for the test! My 4500K loves the GAS. These 2 are much more efficient!

i might put a 18.5hp kubota diesel engine on my 36inch walk behind mower

I imagine the P will come close to diesel. Ventrac's own spec show the P within .1 gallons per hour to the diesel. Plus i thought Ventrac rated the P for higher slopes than the other models.
Glad to see Blue Cord on the comments. He lnows a LOT on these machines. Thanks for the test.

That’s very interesting. I’m hoping to check out a Ventrac with a Kawasaki engine in the fall at the Louisville show

I would like to do a test here in the next few months on the 4520P with the Kawasaki as well.

@@steiger256 I'd love to see a test with the 4520P. I have a 4520P and it'd be interesting to see how it compares to the 4520N.

something else to take into consideration is that the diesel is 25hp? and the gas is 34hp?

There is a noticeable difference in fuel economy between the Z and N. The N is supposed to have the same fuel consumption, 1.2 gallons/hr, as the Y. I don't have an exact way to measure fuel consumption and comparison to other models

I am going to try to do the same test with the 4520P here soon if I can get ahold of one. I was told the P is very close to the Y, But I would like to run some tests to find out. I think it will be pretty hard for any gas engine to get same as the diesel, But you never know. The diesel is very easy on fuel. When I used the grapple a few weeks ago to remove trees I only used half a tank in arond 7 hours on the machine. The new N is definetly better than tbe Z.

@@steiger256 Half a tank in 7 hours is about one half gallon per hour. That's crazy low. You had to have been babying that thing the whole time

@@bluecordprecisiongrading2504 That was using the power bucket dragging limbs. If you do not have the pto engauged the diesel really sips fuel. Once you start working it hard it uses more. The diesel is really effective on fuel.
