  • Join in as we install the GKTECH S13/S14 5 speed short shifter. It is a direct replacement of the standard item and helps reduce the shifter throw by around 30% which helps increase shift time and also makes everything feel much tighter.
Although this short shifter looks similar to others on the market our shifter is the only shifter that utilises the OEM shifter cup to drastically help reduce noise which is very common in short shifters.
    - CNC machined aluminium base
    - Fits all CA18DE/DET and SR20DE/DET or KA24DE 5 speed transmissions (RWD ONLY)
    Get them:

Save yourself 3hours of fucking around and throw out the included shifter plate and shifter bush.
Remove the first circlip and oem shifter as described in the video.
Do not remove the spring clip or shifter cup from the oem shift plate.
Under the oem shifter skirt is a thin white bush, neatly cut the bush so its im two pieces (i used a dremel blade)
Fit the short shifter into the oem shift cup which is still in the shift plate.
Fit the two pieces of the oem shifter bush (grooves face up)
Push down as you reinstall the circlip
Refit all the rubber dust skirts
Youve now turned a 3hour plus job into a 20min job

What kind of grease did you use for shifter bushing?

What is that spring for that sits under the shifter cover? And is it necessary? My car never had one.

The GKTech shifter was an absolute waste of time, money, and energy. Do not buy this unless you want a poorly designed and manufactured rattling shifter.
My favorite part is where they cut out installing the factory circlip and then installing the supplied snap-ring. Probably because they didn't actually install the circlip. This video does not follow the instructions from GKTech, and leads to a ton of confusion in regard to the most important part.
I've been back and forth with GKTech trying to figure out why my shifter rattles so much, but they won't back their product. I've sent videos and photos, but they refuse to fix the issue. The brass bushing rattles, the pins in the cup rattle in place, the cup pins also rattle against the shifter ball slots, and the snap-ring is too thick to fit under the circlip without forcing it into place.
