  • Too often, victims of sexual abuse have nowhere and no one to turn to. The crime is an open secret and its perpetrator is protected by society. That has to change. Meet, Agnes Skerritt who at 93 remains a vocal advocate for women and girls who have experienced sexual violence. Why does society seek to discredit victims? How can we be better about supporting victims of sexual abuse? This is all part of The Real Conversation.

I don't know if it's the editing... Although this was a well-needed conversation, I am very disappointed that Mrs. Skerritt was not allowed to talk more about her perspectives from her wealth of experiences. The host is obviously very invested in the topic, but way too preachy and talkative. I was expecting her to tone it down after the 1st break but...she didn't. She should have been listening more, talking less, and giving open-ended questions to get Mrs. Skerritt articulating her memories and opinions. Not to mention, she's over 90...good grief - give her time to collect her thoughts! I didn't watch to see how educated JH is and how she's done the work to champion against SA. It's not about the host at all. I watched to hear Mrs. Skerritt 's perspectives from her groundbreaking work for years advocating for SA victims, and the results/ rewards of such work. So while I welcome the conversation, it was a lost opportunity to hear more from this remarkable lady Mrs Agnes Skerritt. Hopeful for improvements in the future.
