  • Which is the better Porsche? A concours 2.2L 911T or a 2.7L 911 upgraded Weekend Racer that both left the Porsche factory in 1970? We take a drive in both to reach a verdict.

Gorgeous cars, simply put. Love the essence of the 911 that you always keep in mind when building vs some others.

This was very informative! Not only about Porsches, but also the part about becoming strapped into a car improving feel for the car. Never thought about it, wouldnt have entered my mind, but makes total sense!

I always like Porsche. Your black colour porsche surprise me specially the classic interior design. As well as, your cinematography is best.

I had a friend with an early 70's 2.2 E and that car was 'really' fast ! It feels better than some old S models . It was an early injection and a pain to adjust it correct. In my young days my first car ever was a 2.2T Targa ( not so expensive in these days) and now I'm real happy with my current 3.2 . My 84 car is really easy to use car , confort is good , power linear (always want that bit more) and it fits me . The older F models still have a better sharper sound , so I would also go for your white upgraded car. Thanks for this video.

I love these two cars, and would personally lean towards a mix between the two setups....just a bit more power and noise on the original spec, but perhaps stiffer suspension albeit the same profile rubber....tighten it up just slightly

Both incredible cars especially the white one, I have a restored 1970 karmann ghia not exactly porsche standard but similar heritage and most importantly air-cooled 👍

Brilliant comparison and good real world discussion on both cars. Do really like these chats and discussing the comparisons between each car so thank you. Absolutely stunning cars and so great to see them being treated so well 👏🏼

That’s my experience also. In an aircooled you get so much love from fellow motorists. In the water cooled they tend to get intimidated and aggressive towards you.

Lovely old Porsches and review thank you very much for posting. Both would be great drives - it would be the individual car features you would enjoy. I run a stock 930 - it would be overtaken now my most modern cars but still great to drive for pure driving pleasure where you and car drive and work together, lost on modern cars.

If you ever feel like giving the 2.7 away to a complete stranger, I'm willing to take on the responsibility of keeping it on the road. ;)
Seriously, nice stuff. Beautiful work by you and your team. Stay safe.

Without focusing on performance, what I dislike on your stock 911 T are the « comfort seats » which belong in a sedan, not in a 911 which is, after all, a sports car. And also the fact that they are not equipped with head rests, which doesn’t make sense. Other than that, the upgraded version seems far more convincing because much more engaging. If the 2.7 can be driven at easygoing speeds without setbacks, then it would be my choice any day 😎

Hi Aaron. The Racer carries Bilstein B8 Clubsport dampers. The back car carries stock/period dampers.

Funny, I am in the process of ripping my stock ‘71T apart! I had a ‘70 914-6 w a 210hp, 2.4 and a boosted 930 which was mental and I needed to get a longhood as you do! I ended up with a stock ‘71T w the comfort pack; S brakes but 14” wheels. Sure fun around town, but absolutely terrible in the twisty stuff. After my first Targa California I sent the car to TRE for a full (RSR ish) suspension and rep 7R wheels. With Avons it created a fantastic driving car, but .... the T is sorely lacking in terms of hp. So, my numbers matching motor and trans is out and in goes a 3.8 w a 915 box. I wonder how or if I will look back on my “mistake” ... but I could not, NOT live with the stock T suspension. My ‘Ivory White 71T, will remain uncut, narrow body with a killer engine. The 915 box is a big point as the 901 shifting ruins the experience

Did the White car have its rear fenders widened ? Or jus wider tires and rims?

    • @Nord_Mann

RS Flares, can’t fit deep dish Fuchs under a stock narrow body. A 7R wheel has an extra 1” offset inboard so you can run slightly wider rubber. I run a staggered set up on my, stock bodied T, 185/215s Avon CR6ZZ .. a great tire.

The S is slower and less powerful using midrange reves than the T. The S only comes into her own when you approach the redline.
