    Dayton Audio's LBB-3 compact battery holder board delivers high current portable power to small amplifiers, 50W amp boards, or other 12 VDC projects by combing the voltage from three 18650 Li-Ion batteries (sold separately). It's small enough to fit inside a portable speaker and has multiple 12 VDC outputs to power an amp, tone control, Bluetooth, and other preamp component boards. Enjoy the extended listing time you get from Li-Ion batteries on a single charge. 18650 Li-Ion batteries come in a variety of amperages, and to get the longest playtime from a 50W amplifier or amp board use at least 2600mAh batteries.
    There is no need to remove the batteries from the holder because the Dayton Audio LBB-3 has a built-in charge circuit. Just plug in a power supply and the over/under charge circuit prevents correctly installed batteries from overcharging and fully discharging, shortening their life. The LBB-3 battery board needs a 15 to 24 VDC power supply (sold separately) to start the charging process and to start its output power. This enables you to listen to music while the batteries are charging with this amazing battery holder. To view charging and battery status press the push button on the battery board, or use Dayton Audio's LLB-LED push button and LED kit to view status externally. If you remove a battery, the power supply must be plugged into the holder for the battery board to start working again when the battery or batteries are reinstalled. The polarity of the batteries must match the polarity of the battery holder to prevent damage.

    Great idea ! Now all that's needed is to come out with a way to run multiple packs in parallel for more capacity and a four cell version.

      Each battery board comes with a little cable. If you are only utilizing one battery board with your project the cable would connect your battery board to your amp board. If you want to add another battery board just use the supplied cable that comes with the new battery board to connect to the existing battery board. There are 3 identical connection points, just use one of the open ones on the first battery board.

      @@alexmurray116 You would need another board for proper charge/discharge, overcharge/over-discharge protection; as well as maintaining proper balance between the cells.

      Update: After searching around online I found that there is a similar board that takes 5 26650 batteries to produce a nominal 18.5 volts. Unfortunately Parts Express doesn't sell it, but you can find it online if you search for "BCPB4". And it looks like it will take the same function cables that PE sells if you want LED indicators, and best of all the 26650 batteries have nearly double the life of the 18650 batteries! PE really should sell this part since their Blaster Box kit is screaming for the extra power it provides.

    I purchased the MK Blastbox and am interested in adding another of these boards to increase voltage from 12v to 24v, however I am not an electronics wiz and the instructions just say that "you can add another lbb using just a few diodes" what kind of diodes do I need, and what does the wiring diagram look like?

    Parts Express+ You can take 4 18650 cells and weld them up in a row 3 times, make sure they're sturdy and you'll have a 4P 3S - 12 batteries, Right?

    i just picked up the LBB board for my next project and after checking it out and hooking it up i have a few questions.
    1. what type of connector is J2 and J3? it looks like some type of press to fit connector for bare wire but before i start jamming wire in there i wanted to know for sure.
    2. in between the J2 and J3 connectors there are 4 unfilled through holes. using my DMM i get readings of 12v, 8v, and 4v . i assume the it has something to do with the voltage of each cell. what is the purpose of these holes, if any?
    3. what is the function of the J3 connector? the documentation says "15 to 24 volt input" . is it for hard wiring the power input in place of the barrel jack?

    • @PartsExpressOfficial
      @PartsExpressOfficial  Před 5 lety

      1. J3 / 4, those are both for bare wire. Solid conductor works best but you can use stranded wire, it helps to tin the conductors first if you are utilizing stranded wire.
      2. The terminals between j3/4 are there simply as a test point.
      3. J4 is input J3 is output. J4 is the same as J5, just for bare wire.
      4. See wiring guide for clarification of terminal numbering. www.parts-express.com/pedocs/more-info/325-200--dayton-audio-lbb-3-quick-start-wiring-guide.pdf

      Most likely one of the batteries isn't charged. Charge each one separately, then check them with a multimeter, then try them together again.
