    Is this the Most POWERFUL Amplifier for DIY? It seems like DIY amplifiers are continuing to get better and better everyday. Almost all of them have bluetooth 5.0, aux in and the works. But only a few amplifier are powerful enough to transform into an amplifier that works for your project. Want a 2.1 amplifier? No problem! Want to design a two way bookshelf speaker set without any physical crossover components? No problem again! This amplifier might just be able to do it all. In fact, it might change how you build and design speakers.THis is why it might just be the most powerful amplifier for DIY.

    Quick tip for those of us elsewhere in the world. The sure/wondom boards are the same things and are generally cheaper. Dayton is a rebrand. Thanks for bringing these boards to everyone's attention Nick! Hopefully it ups the quality of everyone's DIY builds!

    • @baluuu2
      @baluuu2 Před 2 lety +7

      Thanks for the tip. But are they actually identical? Dayton Audio claims a minimum inpedance of 4 ohm while sure states a 6 ohm minimum. But both of them measured their specifications with a 6 ohm load. Since 6 ohm drivers are not as widely available as 4 or 8 ohm ones it would be good to know if the Dayton Audio one can actually do 4 ohm load or on the other hand the Sure one is also capable of driving 4 ohm loads. I couldnt find out what chips thtey use or if they are identical.
      Edit: I actually found a site that sells them under the Wondom name. I'm pretty sure they are Sure ones just rebranded. They state its a TDA749X Chip, but not which one. They also claim an impedance of 4-8 ohm the left and right channel outputs and a minimum 6 ohm impedance for the bridged outputs.

    • @lio1234234
      @lio1234234 Před 2 lety +5

      @@baluuu2 Yep, the ones with the same power ratings use the same chips. The only difference I can see for the different ratings would be different output inductors. When inductors with values designed for use with 8ohms are used, when 4 ohm loads are used instead, you get an earlier high frequency roll off, I imagine it'll be that. But honestly, wouldn't be surprised if Dayton named the 6ohm boards as being rated for 4 ohms even if they aren't, especially since the descrepencies from inductor choice wouldn't be noticed by your average customer.

    • @lio1234234
      @lio1234234 Před 2 lety +4

      @@baluuu2 Also, Wondom is Sure (it's their consumer audio division), the Dayton's are relabeled Sure/Wondom boards, not saying there's anything wrong with that at all. Since it's not a copy/fake, just a rebrand.

      In Germany the price gap is crazy: 75€ Wondom, 120€ Dayton Audio.

    • @baluuu2
      @baluuu2 Před 2 lety +4

      @@lennarth.3383 I live in Germany as well. The Dayton Audio version is sold out at Soundimports. But since they are pretty much exactly the same there is no reason not to go for the Wondom board because its 45€ less. @Elliott Dyson It seems like they are the exact same board. They spec sheets are exactly identical apart from the minimum load rating. But another german distributor that sells the Wondom boards states that its 4-8 Ohm for stereo and 6 Ohm for when you bridge the output. It would be nice to know if they are actually able to handle a 4 Ohm load or not. 6 Ohm drivers are hard to come by. And with an 8 Ohm load they can "only" output about 80 watts. After some research i am pretty sure they both use TDA 7498 chips from ST Electronics.

    DSP is now so powerful, accessible and affordable that it should be a no brainer for DIYers. DSP active multiamping makes high end pro audio performance available to the masses.... provided one is willing and able to learn how to use it to best effect. I'm using it to achieve the best sound quality I've ever experienced or even thought possible, from very affordable drivers.

      Just an FYI if you are still even interested. I did some shopping around and found out that if you want to stay within Recommended Power Input you can get around 380 watts safely. 38v @ 10amps. Power supplies being what they are, I would not recommend going to 39v @ 10 amps or exceeding the 10 amp draw. Even then, having 95watts per channel is pretty nice.

    I’ve been looking at this board and i’ve read a number of reviews saying that they fail fairly often. I’ve seen several restocks/returns of this unit so I have not pulled the trigger.
    I built a few “boom boxes” with the shure chip amps and they have huge power when you give them the proper power supply or battery pack.
    The dsp options with this unit are impressive, I hope Dayton will continue developing more of these boards, maybe a dedicated wireless lfe channel that’s 2 ohm stable?

    I’m a broke college student and I have a CNC and I’m going to make the ultimate party boom box using FaitalPRO 8FE200 8” woofers, morel CAT 378 horn tweeters, and a Dayton ultimax 8. I just finished the design and have to touch it up tomorrow and hopefully I can start machining next week.
    I’m using two 36v 10a power supplies for two KAB 4100 boards.
    Each woofer and tweeter gets its own DSP and amp channel, and the sub will get an entire board running in dual bridged mode for 400w total. Already with 50w on the faitals they show 110db on WinISD. This is going to be nuts 🥜. My simulations show the sub can hit 112db at 40hz which is perfect. Can’t wait. Just bought everything today.
    I was thinking about making a CZcams video about it but I’m not sure where to start.

    I’ve been obsessed with the idea of making my own speakers for yearrrrs. Have watched countless videos about building them. But the thing is, the more I watch, the more it seems to become a very daunting undertaking, it seems like as soon as I think I have a good understanding, then then some new person peels back another layer that’s even more complex and nuanced. Used to think eh I can just slap some plywood together cut a whole and stick a speaker in. Now obviously I’m embarrassed to ever even let that cross my mind lol but I also now feel intimidated by the project I want to do because I know when I get it done, using all the knowledge I have. I’m going to end up seeing a video that’s similar to my project and mines going to be trash in comparison. And I’ll feel like I’ve wasted my time… however, I’ve been watching more of your videos recently and they’re giving me a lot of insight and motivation to just say fuck it and do it. I’m just going to start with some small computer speakers and see how it goes. Great content btw lol

    hello sir , you sound system audio quality I like it a lot, it's exactly this quality of sound that I'm trying to have in my car .
    you can help me to see clearly what I should do?
    I'm on an Audi A3 8L, I installed rnse from A4,when I tried the golf 6 rns510 radio, the whole problem was solved, the sound quality is very good, the sound quality is super clear and the bass quality is pleasant .but not possible to fit a radio in my central console.
    I equipped it with the bose system ( basically it's 2 hp in 10cm at the front at the doors and tweeter +10cm at the rear panel + sub unit with 2hp disappointed. )
    I'm looking for sound clarity like the 2010 cars the sub have 80hz , so I changed the front hp to the a8 hp and the rear to the 16cm hp, the sound has become different, but not better, I removed the original sub box, replaced it with a wheel sub box, that removed the 60hz and added 30hz its good bass ,but not good sound but does not make you want to listen to music. I look for 80hz bass. I think the sound filter of the 2001 and 2010 radio sound different, you either have to modify the radio filter , or need filters between the radio and the amp, but my level does not allow me to filter this her

      Well you didnt specify the actual power output of each driver. You could, say, put the tweeter and mid on one channel sharing around 100 watts. You could then put the subs on the other two channels for 100w each. So what Im sayin is one Cab - Tweeter/Mid/Sub with two Channels and the other Cab same same with two channels. its a four channel Amp. I would definitely get the best brick for power.

I dont thinkn you could carry all that power on those thin bridge wires to the second amp and all the rest of that particular circuit would have to handle the power. It was useful for my 10" portable fans. I'm going to look... I'll let you know. In the meantime, anyone know if I can get the Chromecast parts off the old pieces???

      Google and Alexa are coming together to work on more and more things and I'm happy about that. Instead of fighting for the space they seem to be getting along nicely and I'm finding I can use them more than ever... like asking Alexa to show me a Wyze camera on Google Chromecast on my TV...

      It would probably be possible to replace the heat sink/fan with a larger passive heatsink.

    • @russdog63
      @russdog63 Před 27 dny

      I have two of these. I have driven them hard for long periods of time and only I have only seen the fan go on once. The heat sink is fairly large compared to similar class d amps and they barely get warm. I think the fan is overkill and only comes on in extreme situations.

    But a DSP after so many compressions and format change in the audio line is not terrible!
    A title converted in MP3, playing on a smartphone, converted in bluetooth, decoded from bluetooth, and put in an other AD-DA converter like a DSP, and finally amplified with a class D... Compact but horrible in output quality!!!!!!
    For less money and the same powerfull TDA amplifier(only for sub), i build much better triple amplification...
    Very interresting channel!! Continue!!

Dayton should make a tpa 3255 model too for higher amp users.

    i have a triTrix kit of 3 drivers in each speaker
    so that means i'll have to buy 2 of this 4 channels amps
    at 90usd Each Before shipping that's 200 usd after shipping.
    it's not the same as 60usd worth of crossover parts.

    • @Toid
      @Toid  Před rokem +1

      The tritrix is a 2-way design using 3 drivers meaning you would only need one of these amplifiers. The two woofers, since they play the same frequency range,
      would be on one channel of the amplifier. While the tweeter would be on the other. Is that more expensive than the crossover parts? Sure. But this also is your amplifier, so I guess that would depend on whether you needed an amplifier or not. But in general, going active is not necessarily cheaper, however it is an option if you desire.

      Sounds like a pretty decent deal. The only issue is it doesn’t appear that it can connect to Sigma Studios. Instead it relies on its own DSP app. That’s unfortunate, because Sigma Studios is a huge reason why this amplifier is so powerful. Maybe someday they can implement it, but until then it won’t be able to compete with something like this.
