Pedro's gonna need a triple DLC coated bucket for his billet 2jz.
Its not a billet 2JZ, its a billet inline 6
Thanks.
@@ACommenterOnCZcams it still is a 2jz. The billet block holds the same accessories and rotating assembly as the stock cast block 2jz. Of course it’s not a ‘true’ 2jz. However sticking to what makes it a 2jz (the rotating assembly). It’s as 2jz as you can get
@@lrd2258 different material = different block
@@ACommenterOnCZcams It's a 2JZ "Style" billet block... That's how companies like Dart and Brodex describe their Chevy/Ford/Chrysler blocks...
Great video. Thanks Jay.
My pleasure!!
I love explaining buckets to people who never heard of them
Thank you again J and real street. I will be sharing this video many times
I like the attention to to detail that he puts out I would love for him to help me out on my build
Yooo this is great I legit asked rsp a month ago about buckets. Jay's very knowledgeable
You guys are awesome.
Hi Jay, thanks for the info on the DLC coated buckets! One question I have is how come a lot of engines don’t need cam bearings, but the cams just ride in the journals? Unlike the mains and crank which always have bearings. Is it just the amount of weight and load applied which is less in a cam than a crank?
Good looking out my G
How I know the golden shims of the 2JZ, mainly JDM VVTi, are not tin coated.
This is a titanium nitrade coating.
Side fact: they are smaller resolved in thickness as the steel ones.
Teacher Jay is in class.
Cool videos and verry informative 😉😉
Question can you do a video about water methanol injection
Same application apply to the 1GRFE?
Hm looking for shimless buckets for my 7M now
Same here
Are those marks on tin coated shim normal ?
Can this be done to an rb25neo?
I built my supra 2j about a year ago. All going well.
However this has now made me nervous about the oem shimmed buckets, with the 269 9.9mm lift cams I have in there.
Is this very drastic and I should change them out right now, or ok?
Youll be fine. Ppl run 272 all the time on stock buckets. I did. And was revving to 7500. And heard others revving higher than that but not recommended either
You can't be running 269.9mm cams bro! 😂 11.0mm cams are pretty huge cams bro- that's 258.9mm less lift than yours bro!!! 😜
Maybe your thinking of "advertised duration"... The duration that counts is the @0.050 duration, different manufacturers ramp up the lash differently, so the industry standard everyone is interested in is the @0.050 duration
@@danielbrealey2924 No. They are 269 duration and 9.9mm lift.
It says 9.1mm lift is the limit.
Duration doesn't really matter.
@@BassInterrogation I thought as much! 😂 And yes, I'm aware duration doesn't have an impact... Was just a funny little typo in your initial comment I was pointing out... 😄
Why not use hydraulic lifter
Weight and an oil channel. The oil doesn't flow forward in the head, it just flows into the head and down the camshafts. Thanks
Because supertech buckets are crap without DLC. this is just nit-on in todays metal technology!
