Brahma - The Hindu God Of Creation | Hindu Religion Explained

  • Brahma is the Hindu creator god known as the later equivalent of Prajapati. He is associated with creation, knowledge and the sacred Vedas. According to some Hindu sources such as the Mahabharata, Brahma is supreme in the triad of great Hindu gods which includes Vishnu and Shiva.
Most likely seen wearing a white robe with a sacred cord across his shoulder, Brahma is commonly depicted as a red or golden-complexioned bearded man with four heads facing the cardinal directions. This is to say that we must see that good and evil are intertwined in our universe and we should learn how to separate the two, keeping what is valuable and discarding what is not.
The origins of the term Brahma are uncertain, partly because several related words are found in the Vedic literature, such as Brahman for the Ultimate Reality and Brahmaṇa for priest. A distinction between the spiritual concept of Brahman and the deity Brahma is that the former is a genderless abstract metaphysical concept in Hinduism, while the latter is one of the many masculine gods in Hindu tradition. The spiritual concept of Brahman is quite old and some scholars suggest that the deity may have emerged as a personification of the impersonal universal principle of Brahman. But Brahma, although being the creative aspect of Brahman is not Brahman. Vishnu is more likely to be seen as a physical expression of the Absolute, as we observe him sleeping on Vasuki in the primal ocean of milk out of time and out of space. It is in this myth that Brahma appears seated as the first conscious deity on a lotus emerging from Vishnu's navel. This Brahma has four faces and four arms holding the four holy books that exist before creation, and that give him the authority to create.
With Vishnu and Shiva, Brahma belongs to the trinity of supreme deities in the Hindu pantheon, however in terms of worship he does not have the importance of the other two gods. During the post-Vedic period, Brahma was a prominent deity who lost his significance by the 7th century. This is exactly the reason why some accounts say that if there is a worshiped trinity in India, the great goddess or Devi in her many forms would make up the third part with Vishnu and Shiva, but Brahma remains of great mythological importance. As the creator entity in the Puranas, he is frequently identified with the Vedic god Prajapati of the ancient Brahmanas.

Excellent work. I have read several versions of this story and was not sure what to believe. One story said that Shiva fired and arrow to kill Brahma and stop creation, but was too late. Brahma had said the word and the arrow tuned into the arrow of time. Shiva saw the good and bad and decided it was good, and danced.

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
The Creator is Allaah Exalted and Most High ☝️🕋 as is well known. To whom belongs the Kingdom of the Seven Heaven's and Earth 🌎 and all in Between. Everything comes as his Creation so Worship is only for him for which we are Created too.. Idol or Statue Worship was no more than Untrue Myths and that's why was forbidden by Prophet Ibraheem until the last day.. God's Grace and Mercy comes free so nobody needs to go through any Idols. Prophet Ibraheem was the Father of the Prophet's and all The Prophet's were Paternal Brothers so no exemption can be made, even with the Final and Seal of the Messengers. Prophet Muhammad. Peace be upon them all and families.

Brahman means an all pervasive intangible god. shiva, vishnu and brahma are supreme diety representing time(destruction/creation), space(maintainer/guardian) and universe(creator). Thier consorts being parvati, laxmi and sarswati

What's interesting about the story of Brahma and his daughter is that it's retold several times with different characters. In addition to the version you just told, Prajapati apparently lusted after and slept with his daughter Usha (goddess of the dawn), and another version says that the daughter Brahma lusted after was Saraswati, who later became his wife.
This is consistent with a lot of Indo-European myths about a dawn or rebirth goddess that is raped by or sleeps with her father. In Proto-Indo-European myth, the sky god Dyaus impregnated his daughter the dawn goddess Hausos with Meh Not, the Moon (they also have their own Hindu versions in the form of Dyaus Pita sometimes stated to be the father of Ushas). Some versions of Greek mythology state Zeus impregnated his daughter Persephone, the goddess of spring and rebirth. Some versions of Zoroastrian list Anahita (a goddess later associated with Venus and, the morning star and with Saraswati, mentioned before) as the wife of the omnipotent sky god Ahura Mazda.

Hinduism tested by time, archeological evidence, and the existence of the practice of today cements the oldest living religion to date.... far surpassing the sumerian, Babylonia, Egyptian, Greeks.... many world religions stems off of Hinduism.

I'm not part of any religion, but via a deep meditation, having activated the Seven Human (Heaven) Energy Centers, (Chakras) I left the body was shown a glimpse of the cycle of evolutionary incarnations, then heard the spiritual feminine voice of many. Seated above the milkyway Galaxy as an aspect of the one and only creator, the I AM. I was shown through symbolic representation the reincarnation of the bipedal form. She then spoke to me and said, "we learn through dying." I began to feel myself being pulled further out into the universe and withdrew my conscious aspect back in towards the body. After successfully returning, I have never been the same again. All religions have a right to protect and practice their cultural religious beliefs, but understand there may be many names for the Universal Mind, that gives us our very consciousness, but there is only one creator.
