I lived that same life for 27 years! Born and raised in a baptist church I thought for sure I was going to hell and prayed everyday for God to change the way I felt. The first couple times I fell in love I was just afraid of the disappointment from family and church family. It all worked out, my family still loves and supports me and I left the Baptist church and found one that supports the community. David Archuleta is nothing but and inspiration to so many LGBTQ youth and I"m sure will save countless lives from suicide.
I found this to be so refreshing. A gay man that wants to help others and who refused to let anyone take God from him. And finally a gay music artist that sings deep songs like this. Perfect 💕✌️
The most beautiful, honest and heart-wrenching coming out I have ever witnessed.
Yeah, it's so beautiful. I actually had a really amazing coming out too. When I was in school we did speeches. When I gave the last one I decided to come out to almost everyone all at once. It was so nerve wracking. I actually got disqualified because I couldn't finish and didn't stay in time constraints. When I looked up, 3/4 of the other students were crying or almost there. I will never forget that the next day we had voted on the speeches and regardless of being disqualified they nominated me as the official winner. One of the most emotional moments of my life, when I was hysterically crying and they all surrounded me with a group hug. That was over 20 years but I remember it like it was yesterday and haven't forgotten any of them. It is scary coming out but it's worth it. 💕

I already have. I watched him on Idol and he did great but as soon as it was over I basically just forgot about him until I came across this. I am hoping to order a couple hundred dollars of his merch. I will always support what he did here and what he will go on to do. The gay community has really needed someone like him and his music. It's not always about sex and the vast majority of them make it seem like it is. Who doesn't like sex? But we're so much more than that.
I really needed to watch this today. You can literally TELL how much David loves God. He didn't choose this path, and now he's choosing to make the most of it and I'm so happy for him!

What an incredible young man. This young man is so in love with God Almighty,and he shows this each and every day to not only his fellow human beings,but to himself. He is so very gifted and we need to let him know that he is so very,very loved by so many. I have a sense of what he is going though because I want to be faithful to God,but want and need to be happy and love myself. It is difficult at times. I have loved your voice since your first audition on American Idol, you are truly Angelic and OMGoodness that voice of yours. I feel every song you sing in my heart deeply. I had the amazing opportunity to see David perform at YLC five years ago in Ontario, Canada. As one of the nurses there, I realized how many of the dear youth were struggling with mental health challenges. When David came to perform, he said he felt prompted to talk to them about something completely different than he and his manager had scripted. He was blessed by the Spirit to share his struggles and challenges with anxiety (and no wonder, given four years later he courageously shared being gay and LDS). I admired him before, but I admired him even more after that experience and that has continued to this day. What a courageous and beautiful spirit! Now that my own child has come out as transgender and non-binary, I realize even more how in tune with the Spirit that David was that day - he knew what they needed to hear and continue to need to hear. What a great role model! Much love from an LDS Canadian mo of an LGTBQ2 child! XO

Dear David, I wanted you to know what you've done by doing this. I'm a few years older than you and I never really fit in anywhere. I spent most of my life hurting and I ended up with a horrible drinking problem and I spent so many days wishing I'd not wake up. But now these days, most everyday I replay this. NEVER had a song make me want to try so hard to give up my bad habits. I think I speak for many when I say that this song makes me want to be a better and stronger person. We come from the same church and growing up in the church have always been raised to embrace *EVERYONE* no matter what. Proof it has a lot to do with how one was raised, some ppl in the church, actually all churches/religions can be awful, some are wonderful people, it all depends on the person, I’ve seen it firsthand. You're right about that. I love his eyes, you can tell he's genuine and that's so rare in our world. Years back I remember hearing about all these young guys from 11 - 17 killing themselves because they were made to feel they couldn't even be close to God. I really wish, they could have heard this, I think it would have helped them so much. But thank God for David. He's nothing less than an angel. Hope he realizes all the lives he has saved. 💕

As a queer person almost 6 decades into this life, for those of you who choose to continue to grow, coming to terms with who you are as a queer person is only the beginning of what I guarantee is an incredible journey, one that non LGBTQ+ people can never know. It won’t be easy, and you will want to give up. Several times. Keep on going. To truly find yourself and your reasons for being here, you must first lose yourself in service to others. Be awesome, and always keep loving.

I’ve been in love with David since I first saw him perform on The Voice. I knew he was gay instantly, same as me. It’s taken me just as long to come to terms and I’m still not there. You may be right about that but honestly it just makes me annoyed with Idol if many people knew he was gay and he ended up getting 2nd place. Clay Aiken, Adam Lambert and David Archuleta all placing 2nd and ALL THREE far and above sold more albums than the "winners" In the end though of anyone ever seen on Idol, David is definitely the closest to an Idol. Who knows how many lives he has saved already. 💕😇

Much love to David, an angel on earth. Faith traditions need to stop the emotional abuse of LGBTQ children, angels, and beautiful souls - and that goes for the Catholic Church as well. It is unconscionable to inflict this unnecessary pain and suffering.
Decades of hatred by the church and the failure of prayers to lift the burden from me to be answered, ended with me and a rope around my neck at 59 years old. No more. I’m agnostic now. I don’t deserve the hate. Took way too many decades to learn that.

If that were true then everytime someone stopped someone from committing suicide then they would be causing abuse. Truth is what matters and if people take offense from the truth then they are ingrained in there sins.

Shooting school children is a sin. Being gay is not. Your God is not my God because I don't believe God is capricious or cruel.
