I won't apologize for waking to the reality I was buying shoes because I liked them and I could, but that didn't mean they made sense when I have sold so many without regret.

At some point, its just hoarding. I got to the point where it was literally stressful trying to pick out a shoe to wear on any given day. That's the point where I told myself enough is enough. I had to consolidate from there.
People would hate to admit that first part but I might do a video on it later this month

I own several of the pairs which were just shown & I'm happy with my collection. I agree 💯 that I don't "need" anymore sneakers.

This is a good debate, ppl got to realize that jordan brand and other brands know how to finesse colorways just enough to change it up to make ppl think "Man I got to have that colorway" even though they have a shoe already that color. It's the fear of not being current in the latest trend that gets most ppl with the I gotta have it mentality.
And trends will get people caught up every time if it's not true to them

I’m lucky to have been in that space for a while now. I’ve never cared about what anybody ever thought about what I have or don’t have so I’ve always just bought and wore what I liked. There hasn’t been one pair of Jordan’s that I’ve even thought about buying this year at all…and you’re right independent thought seems to be a thing of the past. I’ve been passionate about shoes since I was a wee little lad. Aside from being able to finally afford what I want when I want, it’s the gratification I get from securing a purchase at a retail price point. We saw a huge spike during the pandemic and things are simmering down so it feels good to be able to wear what I like at an affordable price again. I completely agree with you regarding this topic, you get to a point where you feel content with what you’ve acquired. Although I’m passionate about shoes, I’ve learned to limit myself as well. I also skate so I’m able to put wear and tear into most of my pairs but I’ve made an adjustment to only go after shoes I really do want to enjoy. As of right now I have a ton of Blazer SBs to go through and several Jordans that I have yet to unbox. I’m only interested in OG Colorways from here on because those are the ones I like most. But if it’s not retail, I don’t mind taking the L. 2024 Shadow lows are my recent purchase and I don’t think I’ll be buying another pair for a while now lol definitely looking forward to more vacations instead.
Vacations are blissful! Enjoy them and enjoy those SBs on board too!

I want to start by saying I really enjoy watching your videos… I was absolutely brainwashed into the narrative that all sneakers are a “must cop”… you have reminded me what’s truly important… I have sold over 57 pair to thin my collection out to what I “truly” enjoy/want, because I certainly don’t “need” all the pairs I own…

It can, sometimes you pop out and say "I promise I'm good". The AMM3 was actually on foot this weekend for a special event.

As a CZcamsr you are in a rare lane TJ and I like it. Most sneaker CZcamsrs either don’t care or don’t realize how powerful their platform is and they sway a lot of people and have them thinking they got to get them all like they are playing Pokémon or something.

I think the issue is this ridiculous standard set by many influencers that buy damn near every release to review for content. They see you not following that playbook, and we get what the internet loves to do best: attack people you don't know. 😮💨 Common sense and kindness don't cost a thing.
They are free but also so hard for people to express. I think that is another conversation likely worth having of the intention of who you're watching versus who you are as a consumer.

that's the thing. shoes are going to keep coming out day after day. its not feasible to get everything and its also dumb to do so. its money, its space, its time, etc. and you have two feet and there are only so many shoes you can wear. also, a lot don't stand the test of time so you can put them on ice just to watch them crumble later on. being selective is a great thing.

My answer to what is considered "enough" is becoming simpler as I now understand what I effortlessly gravitate to in fashion, but also the practical implications of owning pieces. It's a slippery slope to go from owning one thing to acquiring more for the things we own. I don't want to wake up in my mid 20s/late 20s and realize all this excess didn't serve me like I've expected it to. One day I could move out and see time and energy thrown into pairs I don't wear, rather than an entire life well-lived.
A lot of sneaker/fashion CZcamsrs will often make videos about how you only need three to five shoes in your rotation. Ironically, you'll see in their other videos (or even the thumbnails and backgrounds) they have a very expansive collection. I'm not an exception to this observation, I'm just as guilty of it!! But is more "sneaker heat" really a substantial game changer in personal style? A sneaker can only do so much for an outfit or your life, so is it all just marginal improvement with diminishing returns? There's something to be said about one video showing you sneaker "must-haves" that have stood the test of time, yet five minutes later you'll see a new release getting its 15 seconds of fame. You really have to know who you are to be fully satisfied with your decisions.
(This is a really long way of saying, "The Black Gum and White Gum SB Dunks are my end-game pair, and everything else is sprinkles on top.")
Take it from me, a lot of people hit their 30s, move and realize how much junk they've accumulated just because they could and it does little to serve a functional purpose even monthly.
For the 5 must haves right into a new hyped pair getting its 15sec of fame, I will say the game is the game on YT. As a viewer, be smart enough to understand the game and know the 5 styles or functional pairs they show are more in line with how many should approach their wardrobe than chasing every new pair that drops, in my opinion. If you don't understand your own style, lifestyle and limit you will by whatever is shown to you.
Your end-game pairs will serve you well, keeping the main thing of your money the main thing.

It's never enough some people buy these shoes like an addiction and it def become a habit. Just like anything else u do for long periods of time. So sometimes I think people buy shit just off of bad tendencies. That they have built over a long period of time spending money spontaneously for shoes or whatever vs waiting or maybe just passing but. Not every shoe is heat and that's fine but. Just because it's not heat to u doesn't mean someone else won't enjoy it or thinks its heat. Yet u see so many people contradict themselves in this space. Where they will call a specific model of shoe trash or a brick but. Then a decent collab comes out or pretty average in that exact same model that has hype behind it or value. Now all of a sudden, the shoe is fire or hyped. It just comes off fake like show that same energy for everything just stay open minded. Everyone is entitled to their opinion of course but. When people flip flop back and forth it just shows ur word means nothing or u aren't very truthful in ur opinions and u see that so much right now.
I think you're spot on that staying open minded is a great approach and allowing others to do just this means we aren't pushing our agendas on others
