    I'm 54 years old now and STILL, that was one of the most brutal assaults on past members of a group done by one who left. I remember that song was the talk of the town and it had the city slightly divided on who's side should you take. I remember thinking back then this could do two things, get real ugly or cause a major shift for NWA. I didn't really expect a response cause how could they come close to doing one after Cude murdered all four on wax. I felt NWA's demise was close and as it turned out, I was right. It takes away the validity of the message, it does not have half the Lyrical finesse of No Vaseline, No Vaseline is a well thought out lyrical masterpiece that felt like it took time and effort to create and was delivered with precision, perfection, calm, and finesse, & Cube had the balls to stand alone and deliver his message. hit em up feels like it was written in 10 mins & some of it was written by a bunch of “knuckle headed gun toting Death Row G’z” and the delivery that’s the end of the track is a bit sloppy. my option for what it’s worth...

Then had to go somewhere quit just to hear it. Don’t let an older family member hear some of the verses. They tried to take the album and break it.

    @reecej71 Před 3 lety +2

    He hears the rhymes but it goes layers deeper. To really appreciate what Cube laid down, one would have to have lived it or maybe watch the movie. This was beef he tried to dodge. When he responded it was after NWA’s song “100 mi. and runnin” and you also need to understand the motivation behind that. It’s a whole saga lol. The CPT, the Lench mob, Amerikkas most and other innuendo add to the track. The broomstick, Willie D and other references baked into this track give it that snap that makes you glad your name ain’t mentioned. “I’ll never have dinner with the president”! Eazy had gone to the White House. That’s the reference. He even used his proper name lolol. He went from the smallest fish and went up the chain while keeping the scope aimed at Jerry for taking advantage of them as a group. This was methodical. You can’t mention diss records without referencing this classic.

    When Cube says "You done run 100 miles but you still got 1 to go" he is talking about the song NWA made when he left, called 100 Miles and Runnin. When he says 'you still got 1 to go' he means that when a prisoner is on death row and about to be given the death penalty, he is referring to the perceived distance the prisoner has to walk from their cell to the death chamber. Like in the move The Green Mile. So he is saying Dre, Ren, Eazy and Yella are going to be killed.
